Abstract: Methods and systems for displaying increments of time in a calendar view are disclosed. In an embodiment, a method receives a selection of commonly-used increments of time for the calendar and allots equal amounts of display space in the calendar view for each commonly-used increment. The method allots less display space for other increments of time that are not commonly-used as compared to space allotted for the commonly-used increments. In another embodiment, a system presents a calendar view having a plurality of increments of time and events in a display. The system includes an input device for receiving a selection of commonly-used increments of time and a processor configured to alter the calendar view by displaying the commonly-used increments of time linearly with equal amounts of display size for commonly-used increments of time and decreasing the size of other increments of time in proportion to their proximity to commonly-used increments.

The selection probability calculation unit calculates a selection probability of the relevance category having a first attention degree as a screen attention degree to be higher than that having the second attention degree lower than the first attention degree; and calculates a selection probability having a first number as the number of selection times to be higher than that having a second number smaller than the first number.

Abstract: A method, computer program product and system for displaying Web services. Web services may be displayed by generating a data model of a description of the Web service. A perspective visitor may be applied to the generated data model where the perspective visitor corresponds to a preselected domain. A perspective of the Web service associated with the preselected domain may be displayed in response to applying the perspective visitor. The perspective visitor may include a visitor pattern for encapsulating an operation to be performed on elements of the data model.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit to perform printing, or scanning, or copying or facsimile, or any combination thereof; a user authentication unit to authenticate a user of the image forming apparatus; a display unit to display a function menu to the authenticated user; and a controller to determine whether any function in the function menu displayed to the authenticated user has not been used for more than a reference time, and adjusting the displayed function menu to remove any function in the displayed function menu that has not been used for more than the reference time.

Abstract: An enhanced telephony (ET) computer user interface that seamlessly integrates features of a personal computer (PC) and a telephone into a coherent user interface. The user is provided with a rich variety of functionality that leverages the fact that the PC has considerably more processing power and greater access to variety of data than the ordinary telephone. This processing power and data access is used to the user's advantage as the telephone's capabilities and functionality are greatly expanded. In general, the ET user interface includes a plurality of environments for the user to choose. These environments include a My Contacts environment, a communication preferences environment, and a Call History environment. Each of these environments contains certain available processes and features for controlling and managing telephones.

Abstract: Tokenless biometric authorization of transaction between a consumer and a merchant uses an identicator and an access device. A consumer registers with the identicator a biometric sample taken from the consumer. The consumer and merchant establish communications via the access device. The merchant proposes a transaction to the consumer via the access device. The access device communicates to the merchant associated with the access device. After the consumer and merchant have agreed on the transaction, the consumer and the identicator use the access device to establish communications. The access device communicates to the identicator the code associated with the access device. The identicator compares biometric sample from the consumer with registered biometric sample. Upon successful identification, the identicator forwards information regarding the consumer to the merchant.

Abstract: Multiple degrees of context for media content that is consumable on computing platforms including PCs and personal media players is provided by logically organizing context objects into halos that surround each piece of consumable content. The context objects represent information and experiences that are contextually associated with media content to enable users to easily discover content and experiences that they will find interesting in a rich and personal manner. As a user navigates from a content item to a context object in the halo, the context object itself morphs into content that is then surrounded by a new halo of context objects to which the user may navigate. The organization of media content and information into halos enables an effective contextual paradigm that cuts across strict hierarchical structures to allow the user experience to be much more seamless and free-flowing.

Abstract: Content management architecture for a portable wireless device. Caching and fetching techniques are provided to improve content handling for portable devices such as cellular telephones and portable computers. A search component automatically performs searches as a background process, and potentially desired content is received and cached by a content storing component to be available in the future when and if needed, mitigating latency associated with slow download speeds, refresh rates, and other system and/or network impediments. Content from background search results can be trickled into the device as part of the background process so as not to burden system resources for other processes. As part of memory management, aged and/or low priority or low interest content can be selectively removed or archived to increase available cache or memory space, as well as to maintain relevant content within the device. A presentation component facilitates presentation of the pre-stored content.

Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for intelligent command prediction are provided. The method includes determining a command prediction preference associated with a user from user profile data, and selecting one or more command history repositories responsive to the command prediction preference. The one or more command history repositories include command history data collected from a plurality of users and classification data associated with the plurality of users. The method also includes calculating command probabilities for commands in the command history data of the selected one or more command history repositories as a function of the classification data associated with the plurality of users in relation to the user. The method additionally includes presenting a next suggested command as a command from the command history data of the selected one or more command history repositories with a highest calculated command probability.

Abstract: A search and find user interface is provided that is integrated with a data indexing engine to allow efficient and high-speed data search and retrieval across data storage folders associated with a given software module or associated with a number of disparate software modules. An expanded form of the search and find user interface is provided for advanced searching. Where searching is required beyond a present search scope, an automatic “upscoping” mechanism is provided for expanding a search to data storage folders outside a current data storage folder on which an initial search is executed.

Abstract: A media player stores, or has access to, a set of media items. The player presents a first of the media items. The set of media items are ordered according to at least one criterion indicative of similarity of the media items to the first media item. The player determines what amount of the first media item was presented before an input is received from a user control. A second media item is selected for presenting using the determined amount as a measure for selecting the second media item from the ordered set of media items. A single user input (e.g. from a single button) can be used both to control the selection of the next item, and to determine the similarity of the next item. The ordering can be based on similarity of features or similarity of metadata.

Abstract: The present invention has the advantage over the prior art that it provides a labeling method suitable for a complete medical report. Abstract: The present invention provides an originating user with a prioritized list of communication contacts associated with the various communication devices of a destination user, wherein the originating user will initiate communications with the destination user using one of the communication contacts provided in the prioritized list. Upon selecting a destination user, a request is sent to a service node, which includes rules for establishing the prioritized list based on various prioritization criteria. The prioritization criteria may include static information and dynamic information, such as time, day of the week, and date, as well as presence information bearing on the availability or location of the destination user. Information may be provided in the request corresponding to the originating user, the type of communication desired by the originating user, the relative priority of the communication, among other information, which may be used to create the prioritized list.

The spoken dialog system uses the assumption dialog motivator in either a-priori or a-posteriori modes. A-priori assumption is based on predefined requirements for the call flow and a-posteriori assumption can work with the confirmation dialog motivator to assume the content of received user input and confirm received user input.

Abstract: A computer implemented matching method for matching a user with one or more romantically compatible users of the method. In one example the method comprises: receiving a profile generated by recording user choices from a field of images displayed to the user; applying a logistics regression model to the image choices to determine compatibility between two users. Creating a baseline template of the user's aesthetic preferences then applying this model to templates created from other users of the method. Any results within a desired confidence level are returned to the user. For mutual compatibility the user's own image is compared to that of the query's preference template to determine the presence of mutually compatible aesthetic attraction. Users can also use facial recognition to run personality test on themselves or potential matches to determine a if there is personality compatibility to the combination as well.

The user interface may also include a menu locator indicating a location of a menu within a multi-level menu structure. The menu locator may include a first indicator of a position within a first level of the multi-level menu structure and a second indicator of a position within a second level of the multi-level menu structure.

Abstract: Some embodiments of the invention provide several novel techniques for manipulating radial menus in graphical user interfaces of an application. In some embodiments, radial menus include multiple selectable items arranged about an internal location (e.g., a center of the radial menu). The novel radial menu techniques of some embodiments include (i) non-uniform spacing of menu items, (ii) the use of shading or highlighting within a region associated with an item to indicate the present selectability of the item, and (iii) the use of radial gestures for opening sub-menus and the subsequent display of the sub-menu.

In addition, the size of the menu options may be further adjusted to return to the original arrangement, e.g., in which the size of each of the selection areas is equal or occupies some predetermined area. The invention may leverage a chronological timeline of user action information to infer relationships between objects in a search result. The search may be iterative. Search results may be graphically represented as tiles. In one embodiment, the tiles may provide a graphical representation of users associated with an object. The tiles may be updated dynamically upon user action that occurs subsequent to the search. In an alternative embodiment, search results are organized by object type and each tile represents an object within a particular object type. A default action may be associated with an object type.

Abstract: A toolbar in a client application such as a web browser may be miniaturized. The miniature toolbar annexes itself to a part of the chrome region of the client application, modifying the functionality of the annexed part. The annexed part may be a search box. At least a subset of the features of the toolbar is accessible from the miniature toolbar, but some toolbar features may not be accessible from the miniature toolbar. Some features of the miniature toolbar may replace some features of the annexed search box.

The use of a lexicon of pictorial icons facilitates such communication in an easily recognizable and language-independent manner.

The device provides output in the form of a default output and a number of variants. The device enables editing during text entry and also provides a learning function that allows the disambiguation function to adapt to provide a customized experience for the user. The disambiguation function can be selectively disabled and an alternate keystroke interpretation system provided.

Specifically, a program, when run on the computing system, may perform a method including creating a candidate list of words based on received user input. The top-tier partial matches may be presented, and user input corresponding to a selected partial match may be received. A set of candidates related to the selected partial match may then be presented for user selection.
