Abstract: A manufacturing method for a composite alloy bonding wire and products thereof. A primary material of Au and Ag is melted in a vacuum melting furnace, and then a secondary metal material of Pd is added into the vacuum melting furnace and is co-melted with the primary material to obtain a Au—Ag—Pd alloy solution. The obtained Au—Ag—Pd alloy solution is drawn to obtain a Au—Ag—Pd alloy wire. The Au—Ag—Pd alloy wire is then drawn to obtain a Au—Ag—Pd alloy bonding wire with a predetermined diameter.

Abstract: It is an object of the invention to provide a magnesium welding wire excellent in surface cleanliness and a method for manufacturing the same. A welding wire according to the invention can be manufactured by drawing a base material such as an extruded material made of pure magnesium or a magnesium-based alloy and, after then, by shaving the surface of the thus drawn wire. Execution of the shaving operation makes it possible not only to effectively remove a lubricant and a coating used in the drawing operation but also to effectively remove an oxide generated during the drawing operation. Thanks to this, the thus obtained welding wire is excellent in surface cleanliness. As a lubricant to be used in the drawing operation, preferably, there may be used an oil lubricant or a wet-type lubricant which can be removed easily by a cleaning operation or by a grease removing treatment.

The method comprises forming an intermediate body by surrounding a quantity of the oxide powder (e.g., Ba.sub.2 YCu.sub.3 O.sub.6.9) with an appropriate normal metal jacket, reducing the cross section of the intermediate body by any appropriate technique (e.g., drawing or rolling), and heat treating the elongated body such that substantial sintering of the powder results, and such that, after completion of the heat treatment, the sintered oxide has a composition that is associated with superconductivity in unclad bulk samples of the oxide. The latter condition requires that at least the portion of the cladding that is in contact with the oxide powder is substantially inert with respect to oxygen and the oxide under the conditions of the heat treatment. Silver is the currently preferred inert normal metal. Exemplarily, Ag can be used to provide a diffusion barrier with other normal metal (e.g.

Abstract: Method of making copper clad conductor by impinging of copper particles upon a heated steel wire to cause adhesion of the particles to the wire, by coalescence, building up the particles to form a coating and then drawing the coated wire to the required diameter. The coated wire may be heat treated to cause flow of copper to improve the surface finish before the drawing process. The copper particles may be directed at the wire by a spraying technique. Alternatively, the wire is passed over a fluidized bed of the particles and through a cloud of particles thrown up by the bed.

Abstract: The mentioned ceriated tungsten material is a non-radioactive, hardly consumable or nonconsumable matallic electrode material, utilized in the inert gas shield arc welding, plasma welding, cutting, spray coating and smelting. It can also be used as electrodes for laser transmitting source and gas discharging light source. Moreover, the said material can be utilized to make as the cathodic filament used in film deposition by electronic beam under vacuum, etc. This invention employs the technique of powder metallurgy, by strictly controlling the processing parameters to fabricate the ceriated-tungsten material, containing 1.0-4.5%* ceric oxide. Thereby, the difficulties, that had been existed for quite a long time of its processing brittleness in forging the ceriated tungsten material over 1.0%, have now been satisfactorily overcome.

Abstract: A method is disclosed for preparing consumable insert rings for use in welding of conduit and the like, which utilizes a drawing operation. Particularly, a ring having a multiple gauge configuration is drawn by a process whereby the first drawing pass achieves 80 to 90% preparation of the final cross-sectional configuration. The drawing operation may be conducted at speeds of about 1' per minute, and final dimensions and shape of the inserts may be achieved by as few as two drawing passes. Surface uniformity is achieved and work hardening of the insert during formation is minimal. Starting stock utilized in the present method may be of lesser diameter than that used in conventional processes.

Abstract: A machine draws stock from a source to a first work station at which a first operation is performed on the stock. The stock is then delivered to a second work station so a second operation may be performed on the stock. The machine has an electromechanical system which drives the machine and a switch energizes and deenergizes the system. The stock is engaged by a lever arm as it moves toward the first work station, the lever arm being held in a first position when engaging the stock and moving from the first position toward a second position when the end of the stock is reached. A contact bar moves the switch from its "on" to its "off" position to deactivate the electromechanical system and terminate the drawing of stock. The lever arm and the contact bar are interconnected so movement of the lever arm from its first position to its second position is transmitted to the contact bar.
