The system includes at least one processing component, at least one memory component, a video, an extraction component, and a graphing component. The extraction component is configured to extract image and text data from the video, identify entities in the image data, assign at least one entity relation to the entities in the image data, identifying entities in the text data, and assign at least one entity relation to the entities in the text data. The graphing component is configured to generate an image knowledge graph for the entity relations assigned to the entities in the image data, generate a text knowledge graph for the entity relations assigned to the at least two entities in the text data, and generate a weighted knowledge graph based on the image and text knowledge graphs.

Abstract: A system that distributes channels, to be viewed on consumer devices, receives a media feed and a first programming schedule of a first channel from a source device, and selects pre-encoded media assets for insertion in the media feed based on defined selection parameters. New channels are dynamically created based on the inserted selected pre-encoded media assets in the new channels and based on the defined selection parameters. The defined selection parameters correspond to user-preferences received from the plurality of consumer devices on which the first channel is viewed, and/or a received input that corresponds to user-selections on the consumer devices. The defined selection parameters may include audience-based parameters from an external data source. The first programming schedule is modified based on the differential insertion of the selected one or more pre-encoded media assets in different channels to generate a plurality of programming schedules for the plurality of new channels.

A Predicted Annoyance Level (PAL) management unit processes content of frames of an endless-loop cinemagraph content-item, and determines a PAL score that indicates a predicted level of annoyance that the content-item is predicted to cause viewers due to motion of content in its content-item. The determining of the PAL score is based on comparison of content of pairs of frames of the endless-loop cinemagraph content-item; content of each frame of is compared to content of its immediately preceding frame, except for the first frame of the endless-loop cinemagraph content item which is compared to the last frame thereof. The PAL score is adjusted based on time-length and frame rate of the content item. Analysis of the PAL score triggers one or more notifications, alerts, or mitigation operations.

Abstract: Methods and systems for facilitating discovery of fresh content in a grid guide are described herein. The system generates for display a grid guide with a first set of content identifiers populating the grid guide. The system receives an input to shift the grid guide and, in response, identifies a second set of content identifiers that would populate the grid guide following the shift. The system determines duplicative content identifiers between the first and second sets of content identifiers. The system then removes the duplicative content identifiers or highlights the non-duplicative content identifiers in order to emphasize fresh content in the grid guide. The system may additionally add identifiers to the content identifiers to indicate recorded or previously watched content and may collapse the grid guide if there are blank rows or columns. These methods and systems provide the user with easier access to fresh content in the grid guide.

Abstract: Methods and systems for video segmentation and scene recognition are described. A video having a plurality of frames and a subtitle file associated with the video are received. Segmentation is performed on the video to generate a first set video frames comprising one or more video frames based on a frame-by-frame comparison of features in the frames of the video. Each video frame in the first includes a frame indicator which indicates at least a first start frame of the video frame. The subtitle file associated with the video is parsed to generate one or more subtitle segments based on a start and an end time of each dialogue in the subtitle file. A second set of video frames comprising one or more second video frames are generated based on the video frames of the first set of video frames and the e or more subtitle segments.

Abstract: A lyrics analyzer generates tags and explicitness indicators for a set of tracks. These tags may indicate the genre, mood, occasion, or other features of each track. The lyrics analyzer does so by generating an n-dimensional vector relating to a set of topics extracted from the lyrics and then using those vectors to train a classifier to determine whether each tag applies to each track. The lyrics analyzer may also generate playlists for a user based on a single seed song by comparing the lyrics vector or the lyrics and acoustics vectors of the seed song to other songs to select songs that closely match the seed song. Such a playlist generator may also take into account the tags generated for each track.

Semantic analysis is performed on content that appear on social media sites. The results of the semantic analysis can be used to identify themes within the social media data over a period of time. Trend analysis is performed over the identified themes. An enterprise or business can more effectively market to the consumers based upon this knowledge of the consumers' interests.

Abstract: A television program switching method includes that a program selection instruction entered by a user is received when an electronic program guide (EPG) screen is displayed on a mobile terminal, where the program selection instruction includes a program identifier, and where the EPG screen includes at least two program identifiers and first program information corresponding to each program identifier. The EPG is searched for program frequency information corresponding to the program identifier according to the program identifier, and the program frequency information is sent to a to-be-controlled television.

Abstract: The content items presented to a user account as part of a media station can be recorded in a content history index, which can be requested and presented to the user account. The content history can enable a user to revisit the content items included in the content history and/or provide feedback regarding the content items. The version of the content item returned to the user can be based on the client device used to request the content item. For example, a user that was presented a content item on their mobile device, can later request to revisit the content item on their PC and receive a version of the content item best suited for presentation by the PC, rather than the version presented on the mobile device.

Abstract: A processing device for generating a viewing data report is disclosed. The processing device may include a memory device and a processor. The memory device may store instructions. The processor may be operatively coupled to the memory device. Abstract: Novel tools and techniques to enable more robust electronic program guides in television distribution systems. Some solutions can obtain data (e.g., from the Internet) about a program listed on an electronic program guide and integrate that data with electronic program guide. In some cases, this information can be obtained and/or updated dynamically, in real-time or near real-time, for example to provide, up-to-date information can be provided in the electronic program guide, rather than requiring the viewer to tune to an information channel. In some cases, the system can provide a generalized electronic program guide that can be rendered by the system to be displayed on a plurality of different devices.

Abstract: Systems and methods for sorting favorite content sources are provided. A list of favorite content sources arranged in a first order is stored. The favorite content sources in the list are accessed according to the order of the favorite content sources in the list. At a given time, a user request to change a currently accessed content source to one of the favorite content sources in the list is received. In response to receiving the user request, an attribute of content presented on the currently accessed content source at the given time is identified. The favorite content sources in the list are rearranged into a second order based on the identified attribute. The favorite content sources in the list are accessed according to the second order in response to receiving the user request.

The media guidance application may determine the next episodes of the program series the user can watch before the start time of the media asset and present them using a virtual content source.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for highlighting a program listing in a set of program listings based on selection criteria. The selection criteria may indicate that the a broadcaster has agreed to pay a service provider in return for the service provider ensuring that a program listing, corresponding to the program of the broadcaster, is highlighted in a program page that displays a set of program listings, such as television program listings. If there are multiple program listings, listed in a program page, that are to be highlighted, then details of the respective contracts may be used to determine which program listing to highlight. Such details may include the total contract value, a ratio of contract value-to-page view, and/or the time of contract formation.

Abstract: Techniques are described herein for a multimode graphical user interface (GUI), where a first mode of the GUI uses an unguided navigation model and a second mode uses a guided navigation model in which the GUI is distilled down to only its most critical elements. This may be achieved by sequentially displaying a single user interface element and removing all other user-interface elements of the GUI. The second mode of the GUI may lead a user through multiple options one at a time, thus creating a guided navigation model. The second mode may be initiated upon detecting a certain event (e.g., a period of inactivity, an explicit command from the user, etc.). The multimode GUI may be used to guide a user through one or more recommended items of media content from one or more different content-providing sources.

A client includes client content rights data in association with each request, (e.g., via a token), and the data service uses that client content rights data as query parameters (constraint criteria) in making a request for a data item. Client content rights data also may be used for accessing cached data. Availability constraints may include client location, brand, channel, device class and time (commence and cease).

Abstract: An Intelligent TV can organize metadata about media items for display in a variety of contextual panels. The panels may be interactive or informational and may provide recommendations of other media items to the user. The Intelligent TV can receive a request to activate a panel through the reception of signals from a remote control or a user interface. Based on the request, the Intelligent TV can determine the type of panel requested by the user. The layout, information, and content of a panel may depend on the context and content of the media item with focus when a user activates the panel. The Intelligent TV can retrieve metadata for the requested panel and can then transition to the desired panel and provide the retrieved metadata.

Abstract: Systems and methods for allowing a user to access a different version of a blocked media asset. These systems and methods allow a first user to request access to the blocked media asset from a second user who has authority to approve access to the blocked media asset. These systems and methods determine different versions of the media asset available from different sources. These systems and methods notify the second user that the first user has requested access to the blocked media asset and include, in the notification, an option to unblock any one of the different versions of the media asset available from the different sources. This allows the second user to determine if there is a version of the media asset that the second user deems suitable for unblocking.

Abstract: One embodiment may take the form of method for providing highlights of multimedia content that may be of interest to a user of a television system. The interest of a particular user of the television system may be obtained from a viewing history gathered about the user. From this information, one or more available multimedia programs may be identified as being of interest to the user. Highlights of such content, such as pay-per-view or other premium content, may be gathered and sent to or recorded on the receiver associated with the user such that the highlights may be presented to the user during use of the television system. The highlights may be viewed by the user through the television system and, if the user is interested in the content, may also purchase or otherwise access the highlighted programs.

Abstract: Embodiments enable display updates other than a video stream in a graphical user interface (GUI) to be rendered, encoded, and transmitted exclusive of the video stream. A virtual machine generates a GUI that includes an encoded video stream and other display updates. A virtual graphics processing unit (VGPU) stack associated with the VM renders the other display updates of the GUI to a framebuffer. The rendered display updates are encoded and transmitted to a client for display. The encoded video stream, or a modified (e.g., reduced bit rate) version of the encoded video stream, may be transmitted to the client, such that the client can display the encoded video stream within the GUI. For example, the encoded video stream may be selectively transmitted to the client based on the performance capabilities of the client.
