An indication may be provided to the user indicating the availability of additional interactive content in a variety of ways. Upon user request, the content associated with the tags may be presented to the user. The additional content may be provided to the user in a hybrid fashion which involves rendering the video content and additional interactive content simultaneously or by enabling full screen browsing experience.

The media guidance application may determine a program series a user is currently watching. The media guidance application may receive a user selection of a media asset. The media guidance application may determine a length of time between a current time and a start time of the media asset. The media guidance application may determine the next episodes of the program series the user can watch before the start time of the media asset and present them using a virtual content source.

The system comprising a content creator and a television network, the content creating configured to retrieve a video from a memory for delivery to the television network, generate an ID3 tag for the video, the ID3 tag including information about the video, insert the ID3 tag into a vertical ancillary data (VANC) space of the video, and transmit the video including the ID3 tag to the television network. The television network configured to receive the video including the ID3 tag from the content creator and transmit the video including the ID3 tag to a display device.

For a particular member of the website, the website generates socially relevant ads for the member based on the actions logged for other members on the website to whom the member is connected (i.e., the member's online friends). The advertiser associated with the social ad may compensate the social networking website for publishing the ad on the website. When presenting a member with a social ad, the website may optimize advertising revenue by selecting an ad from the received ads that will maximize the expected value of the social ad. The expected value may be computed according to a function that includes the member's affinity for the ad content and the bid amount. The technique is also applied for providing socially relevant information off the social networking website.

Abstract: A method for facilitating multiple recordings via a single tuner includes isolating data packets associated with recording candidate media assets from at least two broadcast data streams, generating at least one broadcast recording data stream from a subset of the isolated data packets, broadcasting the at least one broadcast recording data stream in parallel with the at least two broadcast data streams, where the broadcast recording data stream is broadcast via at least one dedicated broadcast “recording” device, and the at least two broadcast data streams are broadcast via other broadcast devices, storing remaining data packets not included in the isolated data packets in broadband data segments, and transmitting the broadband data segments via an IP connection to facilitate reassembly of partially recorded the media assets, where the partially recorded media assets were recorded from the broadcast recording stream. Some embodiments provide a remote storage manager as part of a media device, such as a set-top box. In one embodiment, the remote storage manager causes a media content event to be recorded on a remote persistent storage device by receiving the media content event from a program distributor, and then transmitting the media content event to the remote persistent storage device. In another embodiment, the remote storage manager instructs the remote persistent storage device to obtain the media content event from the program distributor, so that the remote persistent storage device can record the media content event without the media content event first being received by the remote storage manager.

In some cases, this information can be obtained and/or updated dynamically, in real-time or near real-time, for example to provide, up-to-date information can be provided in the electronic program guide, rather than requiring the viewer to tune to an information channel. In some cases, the system can provide a generalized electronic program guide that can be rendered by the system to be displayed on a plurality of different devices.
