  • Patent number: 6327920
Abstract: Fluid sampling device for use in obtaining a precise volume of fluid to be sampled from sealed pressure vessels equipped with a hydraulic fitting to which the fluid sampling devices are connectable. The first embodiment of the device a fluid float chamber with an internally sealable top opening which opens into an upper fluid passage. A floating ball is located in the fluid float chamber and is sized to be sealable at the top opening. A non-floatable ball is sized to seat on a lower seat through which fluid can enter the fluid float chamber. A vacuum line connects between the top opening and the sealed pressure vessel. The second embodiment of the device has a vacuum chamber into which is received a fluid sample container. A fluid supply tube connects between the vacuum chamber and the fluid inlet. A fluid overflow tube also connects between the vacuum chamber and the vacuum cylinder.

  • Patent number: 6276220
Abstract: Embodiments of a multipurpose groundwater sampler device are shown and described, each having a sample tube part of which forms a sample chamber, a top portion having a handle, a novel inlet portion, a sediment trap, novel valve means and a means to join the assembly together. The novel inlet portion is of a size and shape that facilitates rapid filling of the sample chamber and facilitates the collection of layers of fluid which can be measured in the sample chamber to directly represent the in situ thickness of a stratified layer. The novel valve means also facilitates fast filling and incorporates a sediment trap, which keeps sediments from interfering with the valve workings. The multipurpose groundwater sampler device of the present invention is adapted to be provided with an extension tube of the same inside opening as the sample chamber to extend the wide inlet a greater distance from the valve means for collecting thick layers of stratified liquids at their in situ thickness.

  • Patent number: 6272938
Abstract: A sampling device can monitor contaminants in groundwater. The sampling device comprises a semi-permeable membrane for contact with groundwater, in which the semi-permeable membrane is permeable to contaminants and impermeable to groundwater; an inner chamber formed by the semi-permeable membrane for containing the contaminants from the groundwater that diffuse through the semi-permeable membrane; and a sensor device communicating with the inner chamber. The sensor device is in contact with the contaminants contained within the inner chamber for monitoring the contaminants.

  • Patent number: 6271043
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for supplying a portion of a fluid stream and, alternately, a fluid of known composition and concentration to an analyzer are provided. The fluid stream is directed through a series of connected chambers formed in an integral housing. A sampling needle has an inlet in one of the chambers and an outlet in fluid communication with the analyzer. When desired, a tube or vial containing a known fluid may be inserted into a chamber containing the sampling needle, so that the known fluid will be supplied to the analyzer. A second needle provides ventilation to the vial to prevent the formation of a vacuum as the known fluid is drained from the vial.

  • Patent number: 6182517
Abstract: A burette tip (1) for metering a titrating agent consists essentially of a burette body (10) with a seat (3) for a membrane and with such a membrane (2). The burette tip (1) comprises, for protecting the membrane (2) and the seat (3) against mechanical damage, a covering (4, 5, 15) which at least partly encloses and covers the membrane (2) and the seat (3). The membrane (2) is clamped between the burette body (10) and a cover part (5) and is held in the burette body (10).
