Tool Driver Movable Relative To Tool Support Patents (Class 83/627)
  • Patent number: 4462291
Abstract: A machine for punching or pressing sheet material comprises a support base, a stationary machine member and a machine member which is rectilinearly displaceable relative thereto for the working movement. At least one such member is fitted with a tool and in order to produce the working movement, a wedge is displaceable transversely to the direction of the said movement in a reciprocatory manner by means of a drive provided between the base support, or a member connected thereto, and the displaceable machine member, or a member connected thereto. The load transmitting surfaces on the wedge and the load transmitting surfaces facing the same on the adjacent support base and displaceable member are formed by hardened body-surfaces.

  • Patent number: 4459889
Abstract: A cutting or shaping mechanism is described in which the cutting or pressing force is applied to a moving blade or shaping assembly over a limited part of the length of that assembly, including where the assembly is in engagement with the work. The application of the cutting or pressing force is moved progressively along the assembly to cause the assembly to roll on the work and progressively cut or apply pressure to the work. The invention is particularly applicable to a rolling cut shear having a single moving blade assembly or a pair of oppositely curved moving blade assemblies.

  • Patent number: 4302119
Abstract: In a matrix printer, the knife blade (27) of the cutting device for the imprinted paper is integral with a cam carrier of a planar sliding cam drive roller (3) supported on the matrix printing head (1). Three cam sections (41, 42, 43) on the cam carrier are contacted by the drive roller (3) as it moves back and forth with the matrix printing head (1) during printing, and the drive roller contacting one of the cam sections (42) to move the knife blade laterally of the imprinted paper to cut it as it leaves the printing site, and contacting another of the cam sections (43) to return the knife blade to its retracted position.

  • Patent number: 4249444
Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved means for the stability control assembly of a cutter of nut former. This means comprizes a driving roller positioned on the center line of movement of the cutter axis enabling the cutter not to roll driving the process of cutting. A plate spring and helical spring cooperate together to reduce the variation range of spring strength, this minimizing wearing of each operating part and to reduce chattering of the cutting tool.

  • Patent number: 4031792
Abstract: A press adapted to operate dies such as tubing cutoff dies through a lightweight ram mounted on a parallelogram linkage for oscillating motion rather than for the usual reciprocating motion on a slide. The ram linkage is operated through a crankshaft and connecting rod by a motor, clutch, brake and flywheel. The machine is compact and uses radial bearings rather than slide bearings to guide the ram. The crankshaft and drive mechanism for the ram linkage is conveniently and accessibly located.

  • Patent number: 3951025
Abstract: An overload safety device having a housing reciprocally movable through forward and reverse strokes of a set length. The housing has a cylinder and a piston mounted for reciprocal movement in the cylinder between a normal extended position and a retracted position. Fluid pressure is directed against one side of the piston for releasably holding the piston in its normal extended position. The piston has a rod to which a tool is attached at one end for performing an operation on a work piece upon reciprocal movement of the housing. If the tool should strike an obstruction, a slight displacement of the piston relative to the housing away from its normal extended position discontinues the fluid pressure directed against one side of the piston and directs it against the opposite side of the piston for rapidly moving the piston to its retracted position. The overload safety device may further be operated as a double acting cylinder.

  • Patent number: 3933070
Abstract: A wedge actuated cutting and/or forming tool comprises a frame including spaced guide portions. A fixed platen is mounted on the frame and a movable platen is mounted on the guide portions of the frame for reciprocation toward and away from the fixed platen. A wedge is supported for lateral reciprocation with respect to a backup and thereby effects reciprocation of the movable platen. The wedge is driven by a hydraulic cylinder and switch means are provided for regulating both the separation between the movable platen and the fixed platen at the closest point and the total stroke of the movable platen. The frame further includes a hydraulic reservoir which receives a substantial quantity of hydraulic fluid. By this means the structure of the reservoir and the hydraulic fluid therein tend to stabilize the tool and dampen vibrations caused by the operation thereof.
