  • Patent number: 4867425
Abstract: A one-piece elongated rectangular metal fence plate adjustably attachable to a cutable guide base of plywood or plastic. One longitudinal edge of the fence plate is formed into a guide fence for hand held power circular saws or saber saws. The invention has straight widened edges of adjustably bolting to the surface of the guide base. The fence plate attached to the guide base provides an elongated saw guide fence for straight cutting of large building material panels such as plywood. The guide base is a rectangular panel sized equal in length to the fence plate. The guide base is initially of greater width than the width of the fence plate plus the width of the base of the power saw. For the initial set-up, the fence plate is bolted to the guide base. The guide base is then cut to size using a power hand saw with the guide fence of the attached fence plate serving as the saw guide to assure parallel alignment of the guide fence relative to the cut edge of the guide base.

The forward end of the wood strapping terminates in the guide's sheath-like structure. The forward flange guides the power saw across the front of the device. The side flange positions the device on the workpiece. The gauge section also has a sheath-like structure mounted on a square metal plate with a downwardly directed user side flange and a downwardly directed rear flange. The wood strapping passes through the gauge's sheath-like structure and is fixedly attached thereto. The flanges hold the device in position on and at one end of the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 4608902
Abstract: A guide provides a straight edge along which a cutting tool may be guided to form V grooves in fiber glass sheet material. The guide has indicia and line markings at spaced locations thereon, selectively alignable with the edge of the last previous groove cut in the sheet or panel. When the guide is so located, according to the transverse dimensions of the several walls of the duct that is to be formed from the fiber glass panel, it automatically accounts for the width of the cutting tool that is to be moved along the straight edge of the guide, to assure that the next V groove will be formed at an exact distance from the groove that was last cut.
