  • Patent number: 7703856
Abstract: A manhole cover frame removal apparatus has a ring-shaped base with a circular track thereon and a saw mounting framework disposed atop the base. Rollers allow the saw mounting framework to advance in rotation about aligned vertical axes of the frame and the base. A saw mounting arm is joined to the framework and may be raised and lowered and locked in the raised position. A saw carriage is mounted on the saw arm for reciprocal movement toward and away from a saw arm hinge axis. A single saw motor is mounted on the carriage and can be immobilized at selected angles. Separate horizontal-cut and vertical-cut saw blades are alternatively and interchangeably attached to the saw blade rotor.

Abstract: A cut guide for a portable hand-held saw that has a blade with a cutting portion that is disposed along a generally vertical axis. The cut guide includes a mounting portion, which is configured to be coupled to the saw, a guide block portion, a guide portion and an adjustment mechanism. The guide block portion, which defines a generally vertical cutting stroke axis, is pivotally coupled to the mounting portion such that the cutting stroke axis can be pivoted relative to the cutting portion of the blade. The guide portion is movably coupled to the guide block portion along the cutting stroke axis. The guide portion includes an abutment structure with at least one feature for establishing an orientation of the cutting stroke axis relative to a longitudinal axis of a workpiece. The adjustment mechanism pivots the guide block portion relative to the mounting portion to thereby adjust an angular relationship of the cutting stroke axis relative to the longitudinal axis of the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 6796211
Abstract: A circle cutting machine includes a template that is removeably installed in the bottom of a base. On the base bottom surface are a number of segments that define respective grooves for receiving the template. The base has a cross-beam that defines an axis of rotation and that receives a handle. On one end of the handle is a crank. The handle second end holds a cutting arm. A handle spring biases the cutting arm to contact the cross-beam. The handle is slideable in the cross-beam to locate the cutting arm below the plane of the base bottom surface for easy removing of the cutting arm from the handle. An adjuster rigidly locks and resiliently unlocks the cutting arm to the handle. The template has a circular periphery that enters the base grooves, and a tab that is between two segments, when the template is installed.

  • Patent number: 6757981
Abstract: A handheld circular saw incorporating an improved rip guide is illustrated which guarantees accurate cuts in the ripping of sheet workpieces. The guide is precisely clamped to the upper surface of a foot assembly of the circular saw. A guide member is slidably movable along the longitudinal length of a bar section of the guide and securely locked in a desired position where it assures that a workpiece can be cut to a precise width desired, as a result of the accuracy of alignment of a flat surface of the guide member which is precisely parallel to the plane of the circular saw blade, that is then moved flush along an edge of the workpiece being ripped.

Abstract: A guide for guiding a hand held saw is disclosed. The guide has a locating member for locating the guide relative to an edge and a guiding member that guides the saw. The guiding member can be locked at any angle between 0 and 90 degrees relative to locating member and is invertible so that angles between 90 to 180 degrees can be guided. The guide has an angle gauge and also stops for 45 and 90 degrees. A clamp interfits with the locating member to quickly secure the guide to the material to be cut.

  • Patent number: 6742432
Abstract: The present invention involves an elongated frame assembly to permit the securing and proper angular cutting to length of a plurality of balusters which are utilized to support a handrail. The frame assembly comprises a pair of spaced-apart parallel side rails connected to a first and a second end rail and a separate support base arranged under each end rail to provide support the respective ends of balusters in the frame assembly. An adjustable slide member is arranged to permit the length of a plurality of balusters to be fixedly set according to a desired length to eliminate inaccuracies in cutting thereof.

  • Publication number: 20040079215
Abstract: The invention relates to an elongate guide (4) for guiding a tool (1) in the longitudinal direction of the guide as the tool performs an operation extending along a straight line on a workpiece (3), wherein the straight line extends parallel to the longitudinal direction of the guide, wherein the guide can be divided into a number of mutually connectable elements. In order to prevent play, a force-transmitting coupling is preferred. It is of course possible to apply a screw connection as force-transmitting coupling, but an attractive embodiment results when the coupling comprises a male part (17) mounted on a first end of the element and a female (18) of the female part extending substantially in the longitudinal direction of the guide is adapted to be in contact at least at two points with an outer wall (19) of the male part of the coupling, and that the coupling is provided with a pressing element (22) adapted to press the inner wall and the outer wall and the outer wall against each other.
