Abstract: A slicer generally resembling a hand held wood planing tool sits atop a block of food to be sliced or shaved, such as cheese. The slicer has a main platform or base which supports a carriage slidable on a guide groove formed in the base. The carriage supports a shaft rotatably mounted therein, from which shaft depends a pair of arms holding a cutting wire between them. The arms are pivotally and adjustably mounted to the shaft. The arms are fixed in place at a desired cutting depth by a screw. A stop located on the underside of the base counteracts the tendency of the block of food to be pushed by the cutting wire. A curved handle disposed upon the carriage enables the same to be moved, thus slicing the food, with one palm bearing thereagainst.

  • Patent number: 5253400
Abstract: Horizontal motorized drive rods in an upright rectangular frame control the movement of vertical guide rods in the X direction of the frame. Motorized guide rods move a router on a movable mount along the Y direction. A plungeable router, spring-mounted on the guide rods, is moved adjustably into the plane in the Z direction. The router removes glazing from a window sash and cuts deeper into the rabbit joint of the sash to allow double pane glass to be inserted into the sash. A rotary saw, with blade depth adjustment is swivel mounted to another vertical guide for cutting a slot in both vertical and horizontal rabbit joints to receive glazing beads. Pins rigidly mounted in front of and behind the cutting edges of the rotary saw blade act as guides and stops for the saw. Horizontal threaded rods with opposing right and left threads on either side of the center of the horizontal rod forms a centering device.

  • Patent number: 5226345
Abstract: A saw guide for use with a hand power saw comprising in combination a guiding platform with two generally planar edges which underlie or form two guiding edges for guiding the shoe plate of a hand power saw across a workpiece to make cuts at various angles, and two workpiece guide bars; one guide bar is generally stationary, engaging the end surface of a workpiece to initially align the guide; the other guide bar is slideable, engaging the opposite end surface of a workpiece. The sliding guide bar is releasably clamped in position. Both guide bars work in unison to hold the saw guide in relation to both workpiece edges, allowing the saw guide to slide along the top surface of a workpiece, but not swivel out of position. Two kerf gauges are slideably interlocked at both ends of the stationary guide bar. These gauges measure a cut line along both the top surface and edge surface of a workpiece. These gauges are easily swapped or replaced for use with different power saws, blades or blade tilts.

  • Patent number: 5138759
Abstract: A cutting guide assembly consists of a pair of guide rails in end-to-end abutting relationship with a clamping plate frictionally engaging each guide rail to secure the rails together. Each guide rail has a cross section defining a channel. A ramped or inclined lip is disposed within the channel, and is engaged by the end of a flange provided on the clamping plate to force the flange toward an inwardly facing stop surface defined by a wall of the guide rails. A series of set screws provide relative downward movement of the clamping plate, to cause the end of the flange to ride on the inclined surface and to force an outwardly facing surface of the flange against the stop surfaces of the guide rails. In this manner, the vertical guide surfaces of the guide rails are automatically aligned with each other when the rails are secured together. The clamping plate includes a second flange, which engages a supporting surface formed on a second inwardly extending lip.
