Filtering Patents (Class 95/273)
  • Publication number: 20140083291
Abstract: A non-fouling, bypass filter is disclosed. The filter is formed of a tapered structure having particulate material filtering properties. The tapered structure has an open base and a closed top, with its exterior surface being exposed to a gas/fluid stream to be filtered. A gas/fluid stream generating device generates a gas/fluid stream that is drawn into the tapered structure's interior and that is filtered due to the particulate material filtering properties of the tapered structure. The external profile of the conically shaped structure is adapted to cause a plurality of gas/fluid streams from the ambient gas/fluid to flow against the exterior surface of the tapered structure to prevent the building up of particulate material on the exterior surface.

  • Patent number: 8673065
Abstract: Sintered fiber filters are provided that can afford high particle capture efficiency and/or low pressure drop during operation, and are useful in applications such as semiconductor processing. The shape of at least a portion of the individual fibers (e.g., metal fibers) used to make the filter have a three-dimensional aspect, which allows for a low packing density and high porosity filtration media. Certain filters have a cylindrical or tube-like shape with tapered ends of higher density. Methods of making such filters, for example, using axial pressing, are also described.

  • Patent number: 8663371
Abstract: A frac truck is provided for the portable metering and dispensing of sand into a fractionation fluid system. Hopper vessels for powder, sand or other aggregate have a discharge vent for releasing air that is displaced during the filling of the hoppers. Venting is required to prevent over pressurization; conventionally, this vented gas entrains a significant amount of solids that would subsequently be released into the atmosphere. A dust collector is mounted for receiving the vented air displaced when powdered material is loaded into the hoppers. The dust collector is connected through a vent tube communicating between the hoppers and the dust collector. Air vented from the hoppers is drawn though the dust collector and past and through a filter media, where clean air is discharged and solids collected. A low profile rotary airlock is used to discharge solids from the bottom of the dust collector.

  • Patent number: 8663353
Abstract: A filter including multiple tanks connected in series by connecting ducts. In the filter a flow of gaseous flows encounters multiple obstacles in it, an effect of which is efficiently to block constituents with heaviest molecular weight, without substantially hindering diffusion of lighter constituents. This may be obtained by internal baffles, or by a bank of finer ducts, for example at an inlet of the filter. Such a filter may find application to separation of hydrogen and radon produced by nuclear waste.

  • Patent number: 8657959
Abstract: An apparatus for atomic layer deposition of a material on a moving substrate comprises a conveying arrangement for moving a substrate along a predetermined planar or curved path of travel and a coating bar having at least one precursor delivery channel. The precursor delivery channel conducts a fluid containing a material to be deposited on a substrate toward the path of travel. When in use, a substrate movable along the path of travel defines a gap between the outlet end of the precursor delivery channel and the substrate. The gap defines an impedance Zg to a flow of fluid from the precursor delivery channel. A flow restrictor is disposed within the precursor delivery channel that presents a predetermined impedance Zfc to the flow therethrough. The restrictor is sized such that the impedance Zfc is at least five (5) times, and more preferably at least fifteen (15) times, the impedance Zg. The impedance Zfc has a friction factor f.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and device for the purpose of filtering particulate laden air exiting a rooftop from a commercial kitchen or other high particulate laden air exhaust. By positioning a filter at a distance from the air exhaust exit in such a manner that the air flow is reflected off the filter a substantial portion of the particulate matter is filtered out of the air without substantially obstructing the flow from the exhaust preventing problems that might be caused from creating back flow in an exhaust system.
