  • Publication number: 20130167721
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a fabric filter system, which may be used for removing particulate matter from a gas, such as a combustion process gas. The fabric filter system includes fabric filters (3) in a filter module. From the fabric filters (3), gas flows through a filter plenary space (5) and into an outlet duct (7). A flow control device (17) controls the amount of gas flowing into and through the outlet duct (7). The flow control device (17) comprises a guillotine-type damper (17). The guillotine-type damper (17) provides reliable and efficient control of the gas flow from the filter plenary space (5) into the outlet duct (7). A collar (21), fluidly connecting the filter plenary space with the outlet duct, improves the gas flow into the outlet duct (7).

A conduit is fluidly connected with the gutter to conduct water away from the gutter and the opening in the housing to inhibit separated moisture from re-entering the air flow through the opening to the gas turbine.

Abstract: An air inlet system (100) for an internal combustion engine includes an air filter (1) and a flow resistance means (2). The air filter (1) includes one or more filter elements (12), an interior chamber (3) and a suction opening (6). The suction opening (6) is provided to connect the interior chamber (3) to a suction channel (7) of an engine. During operation of the engine, the combustion air flows through the one or more filter elements (12) into the interior chamber (3) and from the interior chamber (3) into the suction channel (7). Further, the interior chamber (3), the suction opening (6) and the suction channel (7) together define a combustion air flow path. The flow resistance means (2) is provided in the combustion air flow path. During the operation of the engine, a portion of the combustion air flows through the flow resistance means (2).

Abstract: Fluted filter media includes filter material having a plurality of flutes formed therein having alternating ends of adjacent flutes closed to force fluid through filter material. A first embodiment of the filter media includes tapered flutes which have the open ends of the flutes larger in cross-section than the closed flutes, wherein the upstream open flutes converge toward the downstream end and the upstream closed end flutes diverge toward the downstream end. A second embodiment includes filter media which is asymmetric formed with dissimilar upstream and downstream flute cross-sections with larger flute openings to the upstream side of the filter. A third embodiment includes filter media with an upstream edge crushed to improve flow at the upstream edge. A fourth embodiment includes filter media with the upstream sealing material recessed from the upstream edge for reducing effects from blockages at the upstream edge of the filter.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention generally provide a containment system having integrated bubble tight-dampers. In another embodiment, the containment system includes an integral auto-scan mechanism disposed in the housing of the containment system so that a filter element, disposed in the housing, may be leak tested without accessing the interior of the housing. In yet another embodiment, a method for testing a filter disposed in a containment system includes challenging an upstream side of a filter element disposed in a housing of the containment system with a test aerosol, and automatically moving a probe disposed within the housing to obtain samples for leak testing.

Abstract: A dust screen for an inspection hatch disposed in the roof or a side wall of a dry bulk storage unit for use during pneumatic loading of aggregate material from a pneumatic trailer via air pressure ducted into the bulk storage unit. The dust screen includes an elastic cord in a hem surrounding an open end of the screen to secure the dust screen to the inspection hatch. An alternative embodiment may include a binding strap having a ratchet buckle to supplement the elastic cord. As the dust screen extends upward in the presence of said air pressure, the dust is allowed to settle into the storage unit. No separate container to contain the dust is required, and no separate structure is required to support the dust screen during operation. The dust screen is light weight, portable and reusable, and low in cost.

Abstract: An improved system and method for purging a microenvironment to desired levels of relative humidity, oxygen, or particulates through the implementation of a purge gas delivery apparatus and method that provides even distribution of the purging gas within the microenvironment. A substrate container has a tower therein with a fluid flow passageway extending the length of the tower. Apertures with porous media between the aperture and fluid flow passageway regulate the volume and pressure of air discharging at each aperture. Alternatively, the tower may be formed of a porous tubular polymeric material. A sleeve may direct the discharge purge gas in the interior.
