Rolling, Rotating Or Orbitally Moving Tool Patents (Class 172/518)
  • Patent number: 4147448
Abstract: A compaction roller assembly and a method of operating it. The assembly comprises a draw frame and a non-circular lobed compaction roller connected via its axle to the draw frame. The assembly has restraint means mounted on the frame which is slidably engageable during rolling with one or both of the roller ends, and the method involves slidingly engaging the roller ends during rolling with the restraint means, to restrain undesired movement of the roller relative to the frame.

  • Patent number: 4112857
Abstract: The spot planter includes a frame movable forwardly over the ground behind a towing vehicle. A reciprocating dibble is pivotally mounted on the frame and reciprocates toward and away from the ground to cut a series of planting pockets in the ground, and a seedling ejector reciprocates with the dibble and ejects seedlings into the planting pockets. A packing wheel is also mounted on the frame and is positioned behind and to the side of the dibble and also moves toward and away from the ground to engage the ground adjacent the planting pockets and to close the planting pockets about the seedlings. A passenger compartment is mounted on the frame on the other side of the dibble from the packing wheel and a workman repeatedly places a seedling in the seedling ejector and actuates the planting cycle of the machine.

  • Patent number: 4109729
Abstract: The device is pulled behind conventional sod cutting apparatus and includes an angled roller that diverts the various sod rolls sequentially discharged from the apparatus, doing so to one side of the path traversed by the apparatus. The device also includes a frame having ground supports for supporting the roller at a slight elevation above the ground so that the roller is free to rotate in a direction determined by the still moving rolls of sod. Provision is made for optimumly adjusting the roller angle and once adjusted to maintain the same angle when changing the setting back and forth to divert rolls either to the left or right. The device also includes a hitch by which the device can be quickly unhitched at the end of each run to permit the sod cutting apparatus to be turned around more readily. Also, the roller supporting frame is adjustable to accept rollers of different lengths for accommodating sod rolls of different sizes.

  • Patent number: 4034687
Abstract: A cultivator has a beamed frame with a coupling member that can be attached to the lower points of a lift device on a tractor. The cultivator has an assembly of blades mounted on a horizontal shaft which is driven via a forward transmission connected to the p.t.o. of the tractor. A power driven roller is turned by a rear transmission that is interconnected to the forward transmission by a telescopic shaft. The roller is mounted on a supporting structure including overhead beams that extend forwardly to a pivot connection on top of the coupling member. The roller is vertically displaceable and mounted on pivoted arms of the structure. Hydraulic assemblies can raise and/or lower the roller relative to ground wheels on the structure, for transport. A delivery mechanism including a hopper with a connectable feeder drive is supported on the structure in front of the roller. The roller can be driven to aid the forward travel of the implement.

  • Patent number: 3999814
Abstract: A bearing spool for a disc harrow including a frame means having at least a pair of spaced-apart bearing brackets extending therefrom. A bearing is mounted in each of the bearing brackets and has the bearing spool rotatably mounted therein. A section shaft extends through the bearing spool and has a plurality of spaced-apart disc blades mounted thereon which are spaced by means of spacer spools. Each of the bearing spools comprise first and second spool members having means thereon for preventing relative rotation therebetween. Means is also provided on the spool members and the adjacent disc blades for preventing relative rotation therebetween.

  • Patent number: 3980355
Abstract: An improvement in bearing boxes adapted to mount on rotary shafts objects subjected to twisting moments. Such objects are conventionally mounted by means of a pair of oppositely disposed conical roller bearings, and the improvement comprises a third conical roller bearing disposed adjacent to the sides of the objects opposite to the sides subjected to the twisting moments. The invention is particularly adapted to, and is illustrated in the context of, agricultural earth-working implements such as harrows.
