Abstract: An objet of the present invention is to obtain a disc storage case capable of storing a large number of discs and of reducing a time taken for picking up an intended disc therefrom. In accordance with the present invention, two disc storage cases are coupled to each other via a hinge to be free to open and close, wherein each of the two disc storage cases has a plurality of triangle-shaped partition plates which are displaced and aligned at a predetermined distance, and a top of each of alternate ones of the partition plates is provided with an identification tab extending therefrom. Recognition marks are displayed on the same-directional faces of the identification tabs for making more clear positions of disc storage chambers for convenience of storing discs. A hinge member as a coupler is attached to the two disc chambers for coupling them to each other for providing a connection part thereof with improved strength and durability.

Abstract: A wafer-shipping device and a wafer storage method for protecting bonding pads from fluoridation. First, at least one through hole is drilled in the shipping box. The wafer is then placed in the shipping box. A packaging bag containing the shipping box is put into a vacuum packaging machine to remove air from the packaging bag and the shipping box. A dry inert gas is then introduced into the packaging bag and the shipping box until approaching atmospheric pressure as so to prevent the shipping box from collapse. The packaging bag is then sealed.

Abstract: A storage case is comprised of a case main body, a cover, a rotating means and a tilt means. The case main body has a bottom plate, the front plate, a back plate, a right plate and a left plate which are arranged so that the front, back, right and left plates surround four sides of the bottom plate. The cover is installed to the case main body so as to open and close an opening of the case main body. The rotating means swingably and slidably connects the cover with the case main body. The rotating means has a rotation shaft installed to the cover and a bearing portion installed to the case main body. The bearing portion is formed into an elongate groove extending in a vertical direction of the case main body. The front plate is tilted forward by the tilt means.

Abstract: A cassette housing case for regulating positional shift, having an engagement recess and an engagement protrusion. The engagement recess is formed in the top surface of the cassette housing case and has a pattern which is asymmetrical with respect to at least either a first center line drawn on the top surface in parallel with a reference surface, or a second line drawn on the top surface which bisects the first center line in a direction perpendicular to the first center line. The engagement protrusion is formed in the bottom surface and has a corresponding pattern engageable with the engagement recess.

Abstract: A system and method for carrying personal and/or medical information includes a locket designed to contain a memory electronic device to store information about the user. The locket is design to be opened to provide ready access to a machine readable portion of the memory device by a reader. The locket is combined with a pocket in a shoe to carry the locket unobtrusively. The locket and pocket can include a logo which will alert medical or other emergency personnel as to the existence of the locket during an emergency.

Abstract: CD container essentially formed of a box body obtained by suitably folding a punched sheet material, comprising a substantially rectangular bottom wall (5) connected along one side to an above-lying front wall (8), which is also substantially rectangular, but shorter than the bottom wall (5) and is provided, at the center thereof, with a round hole (7) having a diameter slightly longer than that of the CDs, between which there is interposed a bearing face (3) shorter than said walls (5, 8) and partially surmounted on two opposite sides by a holding-back fin (2) and by a retaining tongue (13) respectively, the structure of said box body being completed by a couple of side fins (9 and 10) of the front wall (8) folded backwards and inserted between the bearing face (3) and the bottom wall (5). The sheet material is punched according to the accompanying drawings.

Abstract: A disk drive enclosure system includes an enclosure, a cage configured to mount a plurality of disk drives, and foam between the cage and the enclosure. The foam is characterized by a compliance, and has a plurality of voids selectively formed therein. The voids can be selectively formed to thereby increase the compliance of the foam. The voids can be formed through the entire thickness of the foam, or through only a portion of the thickness. The voids can be configured to form cooling air passages for cooling air circulated in the disk drive enclosure system. The foam can be a foam system having foam components, and the voids can be formed only in selected ones of the foam components. The enclosure system can include a plurality of disk drives mounted to the cage, and the voids can be located near the disk drives.

Abstract: A MD, CD and magnetic disk box structure includes a connecting plate having a first side provided with a first box, and a second side provided with a second box. The first box has a peripheral face having a determined height, and the second box has a peripheral face having a determined height, so that the fist box and the second box may be combined to form a closed state.

Abstract: A media storage container has at least one media storage tray connected to a flexible cover with a mechanical connection. One embodiment of the media storage container includes two media storage trays connected together with a mechanical connection that traps an inner cover member between the media storage trays to connect the cover to the trays. Embodiments are provided wherein the inner cover member is connected to one outer cover member and two outer cover members.

Abstract: A container for disks having a central opening includes a case having hingedly connected lid, spine, and base portions, a pedestal projecting forwardly from a panel portion of the base for holding one of the disks, and a hinge structure projecting forwardly from the base for pivotally supporting one or more trays holding additional disks. The hinge structure includes a spaced pair of posts, each post having a spaced pair of leaf members and a reinforcing bridge connecting inwardly facing tips of the leaf members, for snap engagement with pairs of inwardly facing stub journals that are formed on the trays. The case has a closed position with the lid and base portions snaped together, each having a compact recessed overhanging lip formation opposite the spine portion for facilitating opening of the case.

Abstract: A storage container (10) comprising an outer shell (12) and an insertable drawer member (14) configured and dimensioned for receiving and storing information-bearing discs (16) and accompanying printed matter (17). The insertable drawer member (14) includes features (78) to store the discs (16) by contacting non-information bearing surfaces thereof as well as structure (32, 36) for selectively retrieving the printed matter together with the disc (16) from the outer shell (12). The container (10) of the invention additionally comprises a tamper seal (86) formed integral therewith which fractures the first time the drawer member (14) is withdrawn from the shell (12) for determining whether the storage container (10) has ever been opened to access its contents after it was sealed at the factory.

Abstract: A label applying apparatus and method for concentrically applying annular labels (having adhesive on one side) to compact discs. The apparatus has a similar size and shape as that of a conventional jewel case and has first and second platforms capable of hinging relative to each other between open and closed positions. When in the open position, a compact disc may be mounted on the first platform, and an annular label delicately retained on the second platform with the adhesive side up. Preferably, the annular label is retained on the second platform by means of several centrally located fingers which contact an inner circumference edge of the annular label. When the first and second platforms are hinged to the closed position, the annular label and the compact disc are concentrically aligned and joined together in a bonding relationship.

Abstract: An indexing system with a label display configured for connection to a stack holder for placement adjacent a stack of sheets held in the stack holder. The display has a label portion disposed in a viewing position beyond the stack and is configured for displaying label indicia thereon for identifying a section of the stack. A divider is configured for dividing the section of the stack from other sections and for mounting in the stack holder within the stack. A tab connected to the divider and positionable extending beyond the stack and over the label portion is configured to permit viewing of the indicia therethrough with the divider held in the stack holder. An indexing system package and a system for displaying indexing system packages is also disclosed.

Abstract: An anti-theft case for products, particularly for compact disks, video cassettes, music cassettes, and the like. The anti-theft case is adapted to occupy as little space as possible during product exposition and to prevent unwanted twisting forces against it. The case is equipped with a locking and unlocking device completely inserted inside the case and cooperating with the case and a moving abutment member to lock the product into the case. The case is further equipped with anti-twisting structure to prevent unwanted extraction of the products by violent and abrupt torsion forces.

Abstract: A disc storage device includes a transparent top shell having opposing sides interconnecting a front, a back and a top panel of the top shell, along with a bottom shell having opposing sides interconnecting a front, a back, and a bottom panel of the bottom shell. A plurality of different colored disc cases are disposed within the top and bottom shells with colored differentiation of the cases being observable through the transparent top shell. Side panels orient the cases in a vertical manner within the bottom shell and the colored cases are arranged within the device for exhibiting bands of different color through the shell.

Abstract: A disk drive enclosure is provided with a disk holder. The disk holder for holding disk products is provided on the top panel as an integral part of the enclosure, and has a shape for receiving and fitting thereto a side of each disk product. The shapes include grooves, slots, continuous ridges, discontinuous ridges, and a plurality of projections.

Abstract: In a card socket (21-1) having a socket body (21) in which a memory card (10-1) is set and socket electrodes (22) formed on a bottom surface of the socket body (21) to be electrically contacted to exposed electrodes (12) of the memory card (10-1) when set into the card socket (21-1), the memory card (10-1) is magnetically contacted and fixed to the bottom surface of the socket body (21). The card socket (21-1) further has a card removal button (24) for releasing the memory card (10-1) from the card socket (21-1).

Abstract: A storage case for small format memory cards is taught which utilizes those sections of known and existing computer furniture specifically designed to receive compact disc jewel cases to thereby allow for more reliable storage of small format memory cards. The storage case includes a compact disc jewel case without a disc retaining mechanism therein. A foam insert resides within the compact disc jewel case and has at least one precut cut-out section therein which is removable to provide at least one space in the foam insert to receive a small format memory card. The jewel case is preferably formed from a clear plastic material and there is preferably an insert sheet adapted to be retained proximate to a front wall of the jewel case.

Abstract: A system and method for carrying personal and/or medical information includes a locket designed to contain a memory electronic device to store information about the user. The locket is design to be opened to provide ready access to a machine readable portion of the memory device by a reader. The locket is combined with a pocket in a shoe to carry the locket unobtrusively. The locket and pocket can include a logo which will alert medical or other emergency personnel as to the existence of the locket during an emergency.

Abstract: A disk holder according to the present invention has a first core 1 and a second core 2. The cores are members having a given length with a generally U-shaped cross section and combined to oppose to each other so that adjustment of expansion and contraction of the cores can be carried out between an expanded diameter position and a contracted diameter position. The surfaces of the cores 1 and 2 are provided with rows of guides 7a and 7b and supports 8a and 8b. The row of the guides 7a and 7b forms flutes for receiving disks D one by one inbetween the guides to hold the disks at predetermined intervals. The supports 8a and 8b are projected rows for supporting the inner periphery of the axle hole of the disk by three-point support, the supports 8b being provided with resiliency. The holder 5 is inserted into the axle hole of the disk D at the contracted diameter position and supports a plurality of disks D, D, D . . . in a row at the expanded diameter position.

Abstract: This invention provides an apparatus or container for a compact disc having a central holding portion to retain the disc through a central aperture. The central holding portion has a plurality of inwardly directed radial arms that are depressible towards their inner ends. Each arm includes a raised mid section which includes a rib, lip or similar to engage over the disc. Also, a bearing means bears on the underside of the disc around the central aperture on the non-data carrying portion of the disc adjacent that aperture. The disc is firmly supported between these two points of contact.

Abstract: In accordance with the invention, a fixture is provided to receive a label to be applied to a CD disc. The fixture includes a base having a well of a dimension approximately the shape of the label and CD disc. The label, after printing indicia thereon, is placed adhesive side up in the well of the fixture. Since the well also approximates the shape of the CD disc, the disc may be placed in the well first, within the bounds of the well of the fixture, with its unwritten side facing up. The disc or label is then overlaid on the other manually in the well, and pressed in place, to adhere the label to the disc. A pair of oppositely disposed cutouts are provided in the fixture to enable the composite card and adhered label to be removed from the fixture by inserting the fingers beneath the laminate and lifting it up from the fixture.

Abstract: A compact disc handler includes a picker elevator containing a helically threaded lead screw journaled for rotation about a vertical axis and having a traveling nut thereon to which a disc picker arm is attached. A guideway in the tower cooperates with the picker arm to constrain the picker arm from rotating until reaching a predetermined height elevator. Using this design, a CD can be retrieved from an input hopper, placed in a label printer or other CD publishing/playing device and upon completion of same operation on the disc, it is transported by rotation to an output hopper.

Abstract: A storing case for holding a recording medium is provided where the recording medium can be easily stored and removed. The storing case has a sturdy structure that is durable and in which the stored recording medium is securely retained. The storing case comprises an outer case and an inner case, which are assembled to provide a storage cavity. First engaging portions and a second engaging portion are formed in upper and lower parts of inner side surfaces of a right wall and a left wall of the outer case. Third engaging portions and fourth engaging portions are engaged in the first engaging portions and the second engaging portions and are formed in the upper and lower parts of outer side surfaces of a right wall and a left wall of the inner case. Engaging pawls for engaging recessed portions of the recording medium are provided in the right wall and the left wall.

Abstract: A variety of closures are provided for use with a drink cup or other container wherein the closures provide a compartment for receiving a digital media disk or other merchandise. Examples include various closures formed of inner and outer members connected by a hinge with the inner and outer members forming a compartment for closely receiving a digital media disk. Other examples include a closure having a single lid portion with a retaining mechanism for retaining a digital media disk to a top surface of the lid. The retaining mechanism includes, for example, elastic retaining bands or resilient tabs. In another example, the closure provides a curved compartment for receiving a booklet wherein a closure for the compartment includes snap-fit members for attaching the compartment closure to other portions of the container lid. Still other embodiments are provided for enclosing toys or the like including one embodiment wherein the closure is configured to retain both a compressible ball and a backboard.

Abstract: A hard disk carrier includes a core rod for collectively holding hard disks in a state of piercing center holes of the hard disks arranged in the axial direction with predetermined separations, a release means for collectively disengaging the holding state of the hard disks by the core rod, a container body for accommodating the hard disks held by the core rod and a cover body for sealing the opening of the container body accommodated with the hard disks.

Abstract: A closure is provided for use with a drink container wherein the closure includes an inner member, having an opening formed therein for receiving a straw and having a peripheral portion for mounting to the drink container, and an outer member configured to be fitted to the inner member forming a compartment therebetween. The outer member also has an opening, with the opening of the outer member aligned with the opening of the inner member while the outer member is fitted to the inner member. The aligned openings permit penetration of a straw therethrough. The inner member is shaped to prevent any beverage from within the drink container from entering the compartment even while a straw penetrates the aligned openings of the inner and outer members.

Abstract: A sleeve-type cartridge case includes an upper half, a lower half connected thereto, a connecting protrusion arranged on each side plate of the upper half, and a connecting concavity arranged in each side plate of the lower half. The connecting protrusion is engaged with the connecting concavity when placing the upper half on the lower half. An amount of engagement of the connecting protrusion and concavity is larger than a difference between a width of a cartridge and a distance between two of the side plates of the upper and lower halves which are positioned inside.

Abstract: A compact disk receiving device includes a base plate with a circular flange extending therefrom which has a lip portion extending radially inward therefrom so as to engage with two engaging plates extending from the bottom of an engaging member which is rotatably mounted to the circular flange. Two hook members extending radially outward from the flange and which are pushed outwardly and downwardly by the long side of the engaging member when rotating the engaging member so as to compress a compact disk mounted onto the flange.

Abstract: A CD containing case has a function of ornament and/or fragrance as well as a function of a distinction between one's own product and other's product and an ornamental effect by means of a photograph, a picture, characters or the like on a jacket. It is possible to present an ornamental effect and a fragrant effect to the CD containing case by disposing filling members for use of ornament and fragrance in a space for a hinge portion of a main portion of the CD containing case. The filling members may be disposed in an ornamental case arranged in the space for the hinge portion or disposed in a case portion formed in the hinge portion of the main body. The ornamental case or the case portion may be provided with at least a partition for dividing its interior or with a pivotable lid.

Abstract: A device for automatically publishing a plurality of compact disks includes a labeling station, a cleaning station, a recording station, a verification station, a transport mechanism and a controller. The transport mechanism includes separate bins for a supply of blank disks, correctly recorded disks, and reject disks. The transport mechanism also includes a picker for moving individual disks between the various bins and stations. The controller automatically controls the various functions of the various components of the device.

Abstract: A multiple media storage device for attachment to a conventional book leaf. The device includes a two dimensional storage compartment and/or a three dimensional storage compartment which has an optional data entry area associated with the storage compartments. The data entry area is a writing area provided for entry of printed information on the device. The device is attached to a conventional book leaf via a substrate that holds the integral storage compartments and data entry areas and adheres to the surface of the book leaf. An alternative embodiment integrates the device into a book leaf structure. The book leaf structure may have multiple devices on a single page, each of which may hold two and/or three dimensional items in combination with data entry areas for printed information related to objects in the storage compartments. The storage compartments may be transparent to allow viewing of the contents without opening the storage compartment.

Abstract: A housing for a personal computer card has a U-shaped plastic frame including flexible lateral arms and a connecting stay connecting the lateral flexible arms. The flexible lateral arms and the connecting stay define a plane of the plastic frame and delimit an inner receiving space for a personal computer card. The U-shaped plastic frame has an open end opposite the connecting stay for inserting a personal computer card into the plastic frame. The plastic frame has a guide arrangement open inwardly relative to the inner receiving space. The guide arrangement positions and secures the personal computer card in the plastic frame laterally and in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the plastic frame after insertion of the personal computer card into the inner receiving space.

Abstract: A holder for a compact disc. The holder includes a base approximating the size of a compact disc for nesting a compact disc. A centrally located rosette integrally cast with the base centers the CD. The rosette has engagement arms molded to and extending upwardly from the base for centering the CD, and further extending radially inwardly, creating a circular opening. It also includes a lid pivotally mounted on the base and having a centrally located retaining ring and button fastener for insertion into the circular opening of the rosette as the lid is moved from the open position to the closed position. With the lid in the closed position, the button fastener holds the CD firmly in place and additionally functions as a latch to retain the lid in the closed position.

Abstract: A case structure with two openable sides including an upper casing, a lower casing, a series of hingedly connected holding plates disposed between the upper and lower casings, and a plurality of hinge/latch blocks. The upper casing is provided with hinge/latch blocks at both a front end and a rear end thereof at corresponding positions, such that the case may be openable from the front end or the rear end with the hinge/latch blocks at either end as pivots. Each holding plate is double-sided so that it may contain objects on both of its sides to effective use the space available in the case. The holding plates may hold compact disks, magnetic disks, cosmetics, and the like.

Abstract: A media storage container has a body portion, a lid, and an injection valve which enables the injection of a protective atmosphere into the interior of the container from outside the container. A vent enables the escape of atmosphere from within the container when the protective atmosphere is injected into the container at a pressure higher than the ambient atmosphere outside the container. Co-acting first formations on the body portion and lid constitute a cam closure mechanism in which, in a first position, the lid is a loose, unsealed fit on the body portion enabling venting of the container while continuing to inject protective atmosphere to allow the inside of the container to be purged, and in a second position the camming action of the closure mechanism seals the lid to the body portion to enable the cavity to be pressurized.

Abstract: A housing for accommodating at least one disc-shaped information carrier, for example a CD, includes a bottom part, a lid part, and a support part held by the housing for retaining the information carrier. The support part includes a raised side grip which enters a recess of the lid part when the housing is closed. To increase the stability of the housing and to provide better identification for different housings, a closed reservoir is arranged in at least one hollow space formed in the housing and filled with a substance.

Abstract: A karaoke system has a player for presenting a karaoke accompaniment according to a song data selected in response to a request, and a loader coupled to the player for downloading thereinto a song data. The loader is comprised of a casing having a first face, one coupling member disposed in the first face, a primary storage disposed in the casing for storing a plurality of song data, and a transmitter for retrieving the song data from the primary storage to transmit the same through the one coupling member.

Abstract: A storage apparatus for storing a collection of compact discs and other recording media in an orderly manner and containing a locking assembly to prevent the unwanted removal of individual compact disc storage cases. The storage apparatus is fashioned generally from top, bottom, back and side walls with the front of the apparatus being open for insertion and removal of compact discs. A plurality of side rails are organized on each side wall such that compact disc storage cases may be held horizontally in a coplanar relationship. The security assembly is described in various embodiments, each having in common the ability to prevent removal of the compact disc storage cases while simultaneously permitting the informative labels contained in the cases to be viewed for easy identification.

Abstract: A MD cartridge encasing case includes a box-shaped body having a space for receiving a disc cartridge therein and an inlet opening which is in communication with the space and through which the disc cartridge is to be introduced into the space. The box-shaped body includes a main case body and a closure member which is enabled to open and close relative to the main case body. It is possible to place an index sheet in a cartridge receiving space by opening the main case body and the closure member relative to each other, and fix the index sheet in the cartridge receiving space by closing the main case body and the closure member relative to each other. The encasing case is enabled to readily receive the index sheet therein and prevent the received index sheet from slipping out.

Abstract: A disk holder for holding compact disks, CD-ROM disks, digital video disks, video game disks, and the like is disclosed. The disk holder comprises a base having two walls disposed thereon, the walls spaced apart by a distance sufficient to receive the disk therebetween. The walls contain grooves formed therein for receiving the edges of the disk. One of the walls comprises a series of flexible, finger-like members, each finger bearing a groove such that the finger biases the disk against the opposing wall.

Abstract: A paper or vinyl folder with a built-in disk folder include surfaces for holding the disk within the paper or vinyl folder to prevent the disk from being removed from the folder.

Abstract: A printing apparatus for a cassette accommodating a recording medium such as a tape-shaped recording medium or the like or a cassette accommodating case includes a cylindrical member and a cylindrical pad. The cylindrical member is supplied with an ink which contains an inorganic filler having a comparatively large particle size. The ink is added with a titanate coupling agent or an aluminate coupling agent. The cylindrical member has the concave printing plate formed on its peripheral surface and is supported rotatably. The ink on the concave printing plate is transferred to the cylindrical pad. The cylindrical pad is supported rotatably. The cylindrical pad is brought in contact with the concave printing plate and the surface of the conveyed cassette accommodating the recording medium or the conveyed cassette accommodating case.

Abstract: An apparatus for securing a computer diskette to an object. The diskette securing apparatus comprises a diskette holder and a retaining member extending from the diskette holder. The retaining member is adapted to engage the object to secure the diskette holder to the object.

Abstract: A rack for storing a plurality of recording media in a stacked configuration. The rack includes a platform upon which a stack of recording media can be positioned. The platform is movably mounted to a support assembly for supporting the platform relative to a surface. A biasing assembly urges the platform towards an upper portion of the support assembly and permits an insertion of additional recording media into a portion of the stack positioned upon the platform.

Abstract: A loose leaf page for selectively storing four compact discs (CDs) on each side of the page, or for storing two CDs and associated printed and graphic information on each side of the page. A flexible, plastic, two-sided, loose leaf page includes four CD storage pockets per side of the page, and includes a hole pattern that facilitates releasably mounting the page in a standard cover-size 1-inch, 1 1/2-inch or 3 inch three-ring binder notebook, certain embodiments also facilitating mounting of the page in a three-ring Chicago-posted binder. In order to prevent interference between two CDs that reside closest to the binder rings when a user manually leaves through binder pages, the page includes a six-hole pattern, or a three-hole/three-notch pattern, that is configured to ensure that a vertical pivot line, or binder edge, on the page being turned moves past the vertical leading edge of the three rings, and then moves backward under the three rings.

Abstract: Packaging containers, comprising an at least two-part cardboard blank, for pancakes are described, bottom part and top part containing a central circular clearance, through which a hub sleeve consisting of plastic is inserted. The pancakes are stackably arranged one after the other on said hub sleeve, after which the top part is placed on and then the side parts are folded up. A shrink film is drawn over the entire pack. In this way, the contents of the pack are protected against damage during transit both by the cardboard and by the shrink film. The pack is recyclable or reusable.

Abstract: A case for a recording medium which provides superior handling in inserting and taking out a recording medium, and further prevents entrance of dust into the case. A case of the invention for encasing, for example, a video cassette includes a case body and a closure member which are connected to each other through a connection member in such a manner that the case is foldable. On the bottom surface of the case body is formed a frame defining a space into which a cassette is to be stored. On an upper surface of the closure is formed a peripheral wall structure which covers or overlaps with an external surface of the frame when the case is closed. An upper edge and opposite ends of the peripheral wall structure are formed with a projection, whereas an internal surface of the case is formed with grooves into which the above groove is to be fit.

Abstract: A security package having a locking mechanism capable of securely encompassing an audio cassette, a video cassette, compact disc, or the like within the security package, wherein the security package has an internally disposed pocket for receiving an electronic article surveillance (EAS) tag therewithin. The EAS cavity or pocket is completely sealed and tamper-proof while in the audio-video article is locked within the security package and the locking mechanism does not interfere or intrude within the EAS cavity.
