Abstract: An optionally glueless storage package for an article includes a plurality of panels, the plurality of panels being movable between an open orientation enabling access to the contents of the package and a collapsed orientation for storage purposes. A holder formed of plastic is disposed on one of the end panels for receiving and maintaining an article thereon. The holder has a far end thereof, remote from the other of the end panels when the plurality of panels is in the open orientation, and an upwardly projecting end wall thereon defining a central recess. An end cap formed of plastic has a near end directly pivotally secured to the holder far end, the end cap far end being a free end.

Abstract: A blank for a sleeve type casing with a cover for receiving a recording medium which is formed by punching out a plastic sheet and folding a punched sheet along ruled lines formed in it, and which has a U-shaped notched portion for finger touch at an edge for forming a part of an opening of the casing, wherein the blank has a cover flap with an insertion flap so that the cover flap covers the opening when the blank is formed into a box-like body and a seam-like cut line having a central portion of a U-shape and side portions extending linearly from both ends of the U-shape central portion so as to extend along the root portion of the cover flap.

Abstract: The invention relates to parallelepipedal packaging containers for recording media in tape form which are wound up onto hubs provided with internal bores and are stacked one on top of the other, comprising a bottom part, a top part and side parts, which are joined to one another by means of molded-on film hinges, and it being possible for a hub support to be pushed through the internal bores of the hubs.

Abstract: A disk storage box including a cover, which has an inside elongated locating block and a stop block with symmetrical series of steps securely fixed to the elongated locating block, and a case body, which has an outer track at one side, an elongated side opening at an opposite side remote from the elongated rail, and a transverse gap through the close bottom side thereof adjacent to the elongated side opening, wherein the cover is covered on the case body when the stop block is inserted into said outer track; the cover can be turned upside-down to hold the case body in the open position for easy access of storage disks by inserting the elongated locating block and the stop block into the elongated side opening and the transverse gap, permitting storage disks to be partially pushed out of the case body for easy access.

Abstract: A storage case for flat, uniformly shaped quadrilateral objects such as floppy disks includes a rectangular box like lid and base portions hinged to both sides of a central spine portion. Inside each of the base and lid portions two pair of ribs are provided for firmly gripping a floppy disk, or the like, inserted therein. The ribs may include a pressure applying first rib opposed to a top gripping second rib for added security. A central spine of the case includes additional ribs for grippingly engaging a third floppy disk which may thus be held separately from the disks inserted in the base and lid such that three disks may be securely held without rattling. The edges of the case are provided with three closing members corresponding to three engaging members to assure secure closure and, in addition, mating edges of the side wall portions may be formed at compatible angles which interlock in a closed condition of the case preventing plastic deformation thereof when the case is carried.

Abstract: In the storage case, rotation preventive projections 67 engageable with hubs 22 provided in a tape cassette 2 and recessed portions 81, 82, 83 for receiving the increased thickness portion 23 of the tape cassette 2 are arranged in a cover part 61 and a casing part 62 in such a manner that the tape cassette can be loaded not only forwardly but also reversely. The recessed portion 81 in the cover part 61 is formed as a recessed portion necessary not only for the forward loading but also for the reverse loading and serves also as a card storage portion for storing the index card.

Abstract: A package or case for a compact disk record, comprises a molded plastic nest member formed as a slab having in one side a circular recess constituting a nest formation in which the CD record fits and is placed. Two plastic cover pieces are carried on the nest member, at least one such piece being slidable between positions which either block or else provide access to the nest formation, said cover pieces have facing, opposite edges which are curved in a manner to provide easy access to the nested record. Cooperable detents on the nest member and cover pieces control the positioning of the latter. The nest member has affixed to its back a covering card with descriptive material, such card having upturned flanged edge portions which are fitted to opposite edges of the nest member and which are also capable of displaying descriptive material relating to the record.

Abstract: Packaging device, in particular for magnetic tape reels or socalled pancakes, with an inner collecting tank and an outer support frame, which totally encloses the collecting tank. The collecting tank, which has closed walls and can be closed on the front side by a removeable plate, is attached on a rear side so as to hang freely on the support frame, which is designed as a framwork construction with stiles and rungs. The collecting tank has several receiving mechanisms for the magnetic tape reels that are to be packaged and that enable the packaging device to be automatically loaded and unloaded.

Abstract: A compact disc container that allows the user to open the container and insert the disc into a compact disc container using only one hand is disclosed. The container includes a tray that slides along the container between a retracted position and an extended position. The user controls the sliding of the tray by sliding a knob mounted on the tray and protruding through the cover of the container. When the container is opened along one wall of the container, the tray is slid out of the container to its extended position so as to enable removal of the compact disc. A hinged panel on the tray, normally engaging the disc to support it during its travel drops down releasing the disc for insertion into a compact disc player.

Abstract: A modular, portable apparatus for storing and carrying a plurality of disc shaped recording media has a housing including a lower base component and an upper cover component. The lower base component and the upper cover component are pivotally coupled. Slots within the housing retain a plurality of disc shaped recording media in a plurality of parallel adjacent positions. A disc selector selects and automatically retains a particular one of said plurality of disc shaped recording media within the upper cover component while the remainder of said plurality of disc shaped recording media remain within said lower base component during pivotal movement of said upper cover component with respect to said lower base component. A connecting device on each of the two ends of the housing is adapted to selectively couple the modular apparatus to either an end of another identical modular apparatus or a carrying device for carrying the modular apparatus.

Abstract: A disc package comprised of a paperboard carton adapted to store, e.g., a compact disc, and a separate paperboard sleeve of substantially the same thickness as the carton. The carton is slideable into and out of a shallow seat defined at one end of the sleeve. When the carton is seated in the sleeve, the assembly so formed is enclosed within a wrap to establish a disc package for a retail store's shelf. The sleeve cooperates with the carton when seated one with the other to provide an extended package length so that the package cannot be easily concealed by a retail consumer in order to protect against prospective retail store theft. The sleeve is thrown away after the package has been unwrapped, and after the carton has been separated from it. However, the carton itself is reusable, and constitutes a permanent storage box for the disc.

Abstract: A floppy disk accommodation device has a synthetic resin sheet for accommodating and storing a plurality of floppy disks in a stable state. The synthetic resin sheet has one or more floppy disk accommodation recesses 3 formed at respective positions thereon. In a lower portion of each floppy disk accommodation recess 3, a bag-like floppy disk detachment-free accommodation section 5 is formed. The surface of the floppy disk accommodation recess 3 is formed, above an upper opening of the accommodation section, with stoppers 6 for preventing detachment of the floppy disk 4. The recess surface is also formed, between the opening of the bag-like floppy disk detachment-free accommodation section 5 and the stoppers 6, with a ridge 7 for providing a gap between the back surface of an upper portion of the accommodated floppy disk 4 and the floppy disk accommodation recess surface.

Abstract: A clear plastic box having a cover is hinged to a bottom member includes a relatively brittle clear (translucent or transparent) thermoplastic molded compact disc (CD) receiving tray, typically polystyrene. The tray has a central rosette of inwardly extending resilient fingers each with an outer radially facing recess for resiliently receiving the CD via a rim at the CD central opening. A plurality of molded ribs rigidify at least two pairs of opposing fingers to preclude breakage of the fingers during resilient displacement. The rigid fingers receive the CD in resilient deformation of either the fingers or CD or both without damage to the CD and fingers. All of the fingers may be rigid with a corresponding rib.

Abstract: A casing for housing a cartridge includes an upper half and a lower half which are formed in two parts and are assembled so as to be adapted to house a cartridge in the casing; an opening for allowing the cartridge to be inserted into the casing and to be withdrawn from it, which is arranged in one of the sides of the casing; and a holding portion which is elastically engageable with a recessed portion in the cartridge wherein the holding portion is connected to at least of one of the first half and second half.

Abstract: A container for carrying and transporting computer tape cartridges comprising a container top pivotally secured to a container base. Both the top and the base are provided with hollow walls and ends. Both the base and the top are further provided with ribs and ridges which hold computer tape cartridges stationary while the container is being carried and/or transported. A caddy is removably disposed in said container.

Abstract: Packaging for data or recording media, for example for magnetic tape cassettes or compact disks, consists of snapped together lower and upper parts and a support frame, in the end areas of which spring elements are formed which press the lower part and upper part apart. The spring elements are formed in the shape of legs at the end of the support frame, which is in the shape of a crosspiece, into which a resilient clasp can be inserted, the end sections of which press on the insides of the lower part and upper part. Tongues formed on the crosspiece and connected with the legs assure the mechanic stability and torsion stiffness of the support frame along with the most economical use of the material and form receptacles for the secure holding and positioning of the recording medium.

Abstract: A container for a recording medium, such as a magnetic tape cassette, consists of a receptacle, which receives the recording medium in a partially pocket-like manner, and of a cover pivotably connected with it. The faces and side walls of the container are distributed between the receptacle and the cover in such a way that the receptacle constitutes a face of the container as well as at least a portion of the side walls adjoining this face, while the opposite face of the container is formed by the cover, so that a removal opening for the lateral insertion or lateral removal of the recording medium is formed. If the face formed by the cover directly adjoins a portion of the side wall of the container, also formed by the cover, a manipulation surface is created by means of which the container can be opened, similar to a pocket lighter, by a simple movement of the thumb, while the hand of the user firmly grips the receptacle.

Abstract: A rectangular holder (1) has two main walls (2,3) and three side walls (4,5,6) and is open at a fourth side (7) and comprises a clamping member (11) for clamping a cassette in the holder (1), which clamping member is situated at the location of at least one side (4) adjacent the open side and is made of an elastic material. The clamping member has an internal cavity substantially at the location which projects into the holder interior.

Abstract: A portable recording media storage apparatus for storing and carrying a number of disc shaped recording media, such as records or compact discs. A housing having a pivotally coupled lower base component and an upper cover component is provided which includes a large number of slots therein for retaining disc shaped recording media in parallel adjacent positions. An axially displaceable selector is mounted to the upper cover component and may be utilized to select and automatically retain a particular disc within the upper cover component during pivotal movement of the upper cover component relative to the lower base component, so that the disc may be readily removed manually from the upper cover component. In this manner a large number of discs may be stored and carried in a substantially smaller volume than previously known storage devices. In a preferred embodiment, a removable transparent cover is provided and may be utilized to cover removable indicia identifying each disc stored within the apparatus.

A modified plug structure utilizes radial compression grooves formed within the cylindrical base, wherein the compression grooves are provided with an adhesive that upon directing the base into a companion bore, directs the adhesive exteriorly of the grooves into communication with the bore to affix the plug with the bore.

Abstract: Storage case for a plurality of record carrier discs, in particular CD-singles, includes a housing (1) with a plurality of superposed plate-shaped tray bodies (3). The tray bodies each have a supporting surface (5) for supporting one of the discs, and for moving the discs into or out of the housing, they are each individually pivotable about a pivoting spindle (11). The housing has side walls (19, 21) and rugged partitions (37, 47) which extend parallel to said supporting surfaces to guide and support the tray bodies. At least one of the side walls (19) has an inwardly offset wall portion (35) which serves to minimize the dimensions of the partitions (37) for given outer dimensions of the housing.

Abstract: A container for storing a tape cassette of the type having a pair of spaced tape reel hubs. Each hub has a cylindrical sidewall which defines a recess in the hub. The storage container includes enclosure means for receiving and enclosing a cassette in the container. Diametrically opposed pairs of fingers are molded integrally with a bottom wall of the container and project into the hub recesses through an aligned access opening formed in a bottom wall of the tape cassette upon placing the cassette into the container. The fingers are formed with a concave inner edge, and a convex outer edge having an elongated straight portion and an undercut formed thereon adjacent to the container bottom wall. The convex outer edge of the fingers are engaged by the hub sidewall, whereby the combination of the undercut and curved inner edge enables the fingers to flex inwardly upon initial placement of a cassette into the storage container.

Abstract: The invention provides a seal for a box (10, 11) enclosing a compact disc, which comprises two rectangular box halves hingedly interconnected. The seal comprises a blocking element (14, 15, 16) to be applied to the box on the outside thereof, and this blocking element engages the two box halves with the box in closed position and is engaged therewith by means of a latch mechanism (18, 19) positively locking into the box halves. The latch mechanism can be operated to an unlocked position by means of a special tool for disengaging the blocking element from the box.

Abstract: A container for flat recording media with a housing and at least one slidably movable slider member, the front wall of which closes the opening in the housing. The front wall has a cut-out which makes it possible for a recording medium lying flat in the slider member to be grasped by its broad faces, the cut-out preferably being coverable by means of a separate component.

Abstract: Display means are disclosed for aesthetically storing a signal receiving means such as video cassette tapes, audio cassette tapes or compact discs. The display means include a jacket having substantially no printing matter on an end wall facing the user. On the end wall a receiving area receives an assigned code for the program of the tapes stored in the jacket and an index booklet of the same shape and style of the jacket is provided for identifying stored programs.

Abstract: An audio disc storage container having a movable flexible, transparent wall which allows inspection of the contents, the wall having an aperture provided in it to permit insertion and removal of audio discs. The aperture in the wall may be aligned with a seal member to prevent the entrance of contaminants into the storage container which may damage the discs.

Abstract: A container for storing recording media, especially compact discs has a housing and at least one transport member for holding the recording media, the transport member being displaceable relative to the housing under the influence of a spring assembly from a storage position into an ejected position in which the recording medium is rendered accessible and being locked in the storage position by a manually releasable locking arrangement against the force of the spring assembly. The container also has covers associated with each transport member for closing the associated housing opening in the storage position of the transport members, the covers being individually moved out of registration with their transport members in response to ejection thereof whereby it is possible to remove and insert a recording media in a straight line.

Abstract: Easily operable apparatus for storing and retrieving recording media, magnetic tape cassettes and compact discs for example, is characterized by a housing and at least first recording media carrier slidably supported therein for movement between a stored position and a recording medium removal position under the influence of an ejection spring. The storage apparatus is provided with a locking mechanism, for retaining the carrier in the stored position, which will not be unintentionally released in response to rapid acceleration or deceleration when the storage apparatus is mounted within a motor vehicle.

Abstract: An information recording carrier-holding sheet in which laterally and vertically extending partition walls are formed in a single rigid resin sheet to form a plurality of rectangular depressions for allowing information recording carriers to be housed therein. Planar lugs are formed on the opposite side walls of each of the rectangular depression while projecting from almost the central portions of the opposite side walls in the longitudinal direction thereof to the inside of the rectangular depression. Guide members for guiding the movement of the information recording carrier in the rectangular depression are provided at the planar lugs in each of the rectangular depressions or in the vicinity thereof.

Abstract: Container for gramophone or video discs or similar flat recording media with a housing in which the discs may be housed in closely spaced adjacent storage compartments and may be removed individually, wherein a guide arrangement with an inlet opening which is wider than the width of the storage compartments in the direction of the disc thickness is provided, and wherein an outlet opening which may be brought according to choice into alignment with each storage compartment is provided.

Abstract: A cassette having a drawer composed of a rigid support shelf and one or two data cards mounted to the shelf, and a rigid cassette case having sides defining a slot at a front end in the case for edgewise insertion of the drawer into the case. The drawer has at least one and preferably two holes at a front end therein coinciding with notches in sides of the case. A boss on either the drawer or the case is received by a groove in the other when the cassette is closed, thereby forming a detent. A second boss and groove may be provided on the opposite side. Each data card may be composed of a thin backing sheet adhered to the shelf, a strip of laser recording material disposed on the backing sheet and a transparent scratch-resistant plastic cover disposed over the strip.

Abstract: A container for use in the mailing of flat recording media, discettes having computer programs or the like recorded thereon for example, comprises a pair of cover members which cooperate to define a pocket therebetween, at least two parts of these cover members being relatively movable with respect to each other to open and close the container. The relatively movable cover parts are provided with receivers for closure elements, the closure elements and the cover member receivers being designed such that once the container has been closed and the closure elements inserted the container may not be re-opened without destruction of the closure elements.

Abstract: A magazine for sound recording media suitable for vehicle installation comprises an outer housing which defines, through the use of a plurality of inwardly extending ribs, a recess which receives the inner housing or housings which include the media receiving drawers or sliders. An impact absorbing frame is provided around the access opening at the front of the outer housing. The outer housing is mounted, by means of integral hubs, from a support by means of a yoke. The hubs are relatively rotatable with respect to the yoke to permit the outer housing to be positioned in a desired angular orientation.

Abstract: A beverage container lid made of relatively thin, flexible and sound resounding material, provided with cross-slits at its center with a sound reading member in the form of a sharp projection engageable with an in-depth recording soundtrack linearly embossed on the peripheral surface of a coacting drinking straw. By pushing the drinking straw through the cross-slits in the lid, the sharp projection engages the linear soundtrack on the straw thus causing the lid to vibrate and emit a sound corresponding to that recorded on the straw soundtrack.

Abstract: The video disc caddy comprises a record retaining spine removably received inside an outer protective cover. The spine has an opening for receiving a disc record. Each side of the spine is provided with a pair of oppositely disposed, substantially semicircular wiping pads around the record receiving opening therein.

Abstract: A video disc caddy comprises a jacket and a record retaining spine. The jacket includes a U-shaped rigid frame having a peripheral edge wall and an intermediate flange extending inwardly from the edge wall at substantially right angles thereto. The intermediate flange in conjunction with the interior surfaces of the edge wall defines a pair of channels. A pair of inexpensive panels, made from sheet stock, are securely mounted in the respective channels to define a record enclosing cavity.

Abstract: A phonograph record turntable assembly comprises a rotatable turntable having a rubber or other elastically flexible sheet overlying a substantial portion of its upper surface and secured thereto at least along an edge or edges of the sheet for defining at least one sealed interior space which contains a fluid material, preferably in the form of a viscous liquid, so as to provide a cushioned, vibration-damping record supporting surface which conforms to the shape of a warped or otherwise distorted phonograph record placed thereon. In order to avoid the accumulation of the liquid at any one portion of the interior space when the turntable is not horizontally disposed, such interior space may be divided into a plurality of liquid-containing compartments which are isolated from each other, as by partitions therebetween, and/or each interior space or compartment may further contain absorbent material which takes up the viscous liquid.
