Deflector And Terminal Flow Element Patents (Class 239/518)
  • Patent number: 8214935
Abstract: Pop-up fountain embodiments are provided which successfully combine aesthetics, utility and ease of installation and are thus especially suited for installation into spas, hot tubs, pools and the like. Different embodiments include a fountain body and a fountain valve which is slidingly received in the body. The valve terminates in a cap which substantially fills an aperture of the body when the valve is in a quiescent position. Applied water pressure forces the valve into an energized position where the form of the valve directs water laterally in an aesthetically-pleasing pattern. The valve preferably includes a deflector which is arranged below the cap and configured to control and enhance the lateral deflection.

Abstract: The present invention is to offer a fan diversion structure which is adapted to be disposed on a fan, and the fan diversion structure comprises at least one deflector and at least one connecting part. The deflector, which is adapted to be disposed across front of an air outlet of the fan, is disposed on one side next to a center of the fan and without overlapping the center of the fan, wherein the deflector extends outwardly so as to deflect an airflow to the side direction of the fan. The connecting part is adapted for connecting the deflector to the fan. Thereby the airflow from the fan not only converges in the axial direction, but also moderately extends to the side of the fan so as to increase the blowing angle and enhance convection efficiency around the fan.

  • Patent number: 8162239
Abstract: A nozzle that produces an outlet velocity air, or other fluid jet, is provided with safety passages which achieve the safety requirement of automatically reducing the local exit pressure “dead end” limit to 30 psig or less when the nozzle outlet is partially or completely obstructed. The safety passages do not reduce the effectiveness of the normal function of the air, or other fluid, jet through the provision of a check valve to block undesirable reverse flow in the safety passage(s) thus avoiding ambient fluid flow to the nozzle exit that degrades the nozzle's normal operating air, or other fluid, jet. This is especially useful for supersonic air gun nozzles which have been adapted to digging in the ground, and other purposes, but it is also useful for sonic and subsonic nozzles that are used for other purposes such as cleaning, and other applications.

Abstract: A pressure swirl atomizer includes a nozzle having an exit orifice and a plurality of tangential swirl channels and a pintle that is movable within a pintle bearing between a closed position that closes the exit orifice and an open position that opens the exit orifice. The atomizer also has a pole piece having a channel, and the pole piece and the pintle are separated by an air gap when the pintle is in the closed position. A space between the pintle and the pintle bearing, the air gap, and the channel together form at least a part of a return path. Fluid from the tangential swirl channels drains through the return path when the pintle is in the closed position. To open the atomizer, a solenoid generates a magnetic force when energized, attracting the pintle toward the pole piece into the open position. A check valve disposed in the return path generates a fluid back pressure when the solenoid is de-energized to push the pintle toward the closed position.

Abstract: A pressure swirl atomizer has a swirl chamber with an exit orifice and a plurality of tangential swirl channels disposed around the circumference of the swirl chamber. A pintle bearing surrounds a pintle. The pintle has a body portion and a nose portion that is narrower than the body portion. The nose portion has a tip that opens and closes the exit orifice and a side that is movable in the pintle bearing. In one embodiment, a return path formed between the nose portion of the pintle and the pintle bearing drains fluid from the swirl chamber when the exit orifice is closed. The nose portion positions the return path closer to a centerline of the atomizer, forcing fluid to swirl in the swirl chamber before draining. Since the fluid does not remain static in the chamber, less energy is needed to increase the fluid velocity and quickly form a desired spray pattern when the exit orifice is opened.

Abstract: A sprinkler nozzle is described, having a hydrofoil member located on a lower surface near the nozzle exit aperture. As the water exits the nozzle, a portion of that water moves over the hydrofoil, causing it to be gently directed downwards with minimal turbulence. A portion of this water may be further directed by ramps extending from the face of the nozzle. Ultimately, the water is distributed to close-in areas of turf at about the same rate as other distances in the watering radius, eliminating “close-in” overwater that occurs in prior art nozzles. Additionally, by providing a less abrupt flow-directing feature than the prior art, the rate and therefore the force of the nearby watering flow is less (i.e., more gentle) than prior art nozzles.

  • Patent number: 7731107
Abstract: The invention concerns a sanitary component (1) that has a jet regulating device (4) in the interior of a mounting housing (6). The jet regulating device (4) includes at least one directly-mounted element (5) housed in the mounting housing (6), this element being provided with ridges (11) transverse to the flow direction and defining between them passageways (12). The invention is characterized in that the ridges (11) of at least one directly mounted element (5) are arranged in the form of a grid or network and intersect at junction points. The component (1) according to the invention, which can be manufactured inexpensively, exhibits the best possible jet regulating characteristics, even if the transverse surface is relatively small; moreover, the component (1) according to the invention requires little maintenance, without any risk of malfunction resulting from dirt carried by the liquid flow.

  • Patent number: 7726587
Abstract: An irrigation sprinkler nozzle for use in a rotary sprinkler for projecting the entire fluid stream between about 15 and about 35 feet from the rotary sprinkler regardless of the upstream pressure. The irrigation sprinkler nozzle comprises a nozzle body having a longitudinal axis, a side wall, and an exit wall. Coupled to the nozzle body is a restrictor plate that is spaced from the exit wall. Defined by the side wall, the exit wall, and the restrictor plate is a fluid chamber. The nozzle includes an inlet to the chamber defined by the restrictor plate. Preferably, the inlet has a cross-sectional area so that a pressure inside the chamber is less than a pressure upstream of the inlet. The nozzle also has an outlet from the chamber defined by the exit wall for projecting a fluid stream outwardly from the irrigation sprinkler nozzle. The chamber may be configured to form a turbulent flow within the chamber.

  • Publication number: 20100065663
Abstract: A nozzle for a fuel injector, in particular for a gas-turbine engine, is provided comprising a planar conductive electrode with a sharp edge forming an aperture, an upper insulation layer above the electrode and a lower insulation layer below the electrode, both insulation layers having apertures, and a swirler arrangement for creating a swirling action in liquid fuel introduced into the nozzle. The axis of swirl is generally perpendicular to the plane of the electrode. In use, the swirling fuel passes through the aperture of the lower insulation layer, the aperture of the conductive electrode and the aperture of the upper insulation layer. As the fuel passes through the aperture of the electrode, the electrode charges the swirling fuel, so that the nozzle supplies charged droplets of atomised fuel from an outlet orifice. The swirler arrangement may be a radial or axial swirler arrangement.

Device uses elastomeric flow control where the emission channel is large enough to purge particulate matter from it's channels and the spray head has large enough orifices to allow the particulate to pass unimpeded through the discharge arena. This device is designed to utilize flow rates of less than 2 gallons per hour and can compensate for pressures between 10 and 60 pounds per square inch. Construction of this device is through the use of polymers, but other materials can be used as the design is such as to allow for a large variety of applications. This device can be used in the agricultural or horticultural application and is adapted for use in vineyards and can be used singularly or in multiple head arrangements. Design of inlet portion allows for use with flexible or rigid water supply means.
