Two flexible webs are spaced between the holes and conform to and engage the screw when inserted into one of the holes. A pair of legs mirror each other and are adapted for insertion into the slot for engaging the panel and retaining the plastic nut to the panel. Each leg has an inner surface having a series of molded curved surfaces aligned with the holes in the head.

  • Patent number: 5028190
Abstract: A vehicle plastic panel is mounted by means of a one-piece molded screw anchor on a substructure member in a bi-directional tolerance compensating manner. The screw anchor is adapted for snap-in capture in a substructure elongated rectangular aperture enabling it to slide along the aperture major axis. Upon the insertion of a self-tapping screw in a panel circular opening overlying the screw anchor, the screw tip enters the anchor upper lead-in chamber. If the screw and anchor are misaligned, the screw tip contacts a subjacent one of a pair of opposed anchor ramped side surface portions whereby the anchor is cammed for limited adjustment along the aperture major axis. The anchor ramped surface portions terminate in a lower, elongated channel extending transverse to the major axis. The anchor base wall is adapted to be threadably engaged upon driving the screw at a piercing point in vertical alignment with the panel opening.

The tapered plug has a threaded bore therethrough for threading onto the mine roof bolt. The tapered plug tapered surfaces have an angle of taper of at least 6.5.degree. to the axis of the mine roof bolt. The expansion leaves each have seven serrations formed on the surface such that the serrations are formed by the intersection of a planar surface perpendicular to the axis of the mine roof bolt and a frusto-conical surface. The frusto-conical surface is at an angle of 72.3.degree. to the planar surface.

Abstract: An expansion anchor assembly for use in a borehole formed in a receiving material has a leading end and a trailing end relative to the insertion direction of the assembly into the borehole. The expansion anchor assembly includes a tie rod with an expansion cone at its leading end, an expansion sleeve through which the tie rod extends and a cone sleeve positioned around the expansion cone and between the expansion cone and the leading end of the expansion sleeve. The radially outer surfaces of the expansion cone and the cone sleeve each have a different cone angle. Due to the different once angle, when the tie rod is drawn into the expansion sleeve toward the trailing end of the assembly, the part with the smaller cone angle moves in the same direction into the expansion sleeve until it contacts a stop. Subsequently on continued inward movement of the tie rod, both the expansion cone and the cone sleeve are drawn into the leading end of the expansion sleeve and effect an increased expanding action.
