The transfer station (16) has suction assistance (32) bearing on the ends of the cigarettes to allow separation of cigarettes in a container into batches for transfer during unloading. The transfer station (16) preferably also includes a conveyor (26) with retractable spaced partitions (30) for supplying or receiving successive batches, and at least one pusher (32,34) for transferring batches to or from the conveyor in a direction parallel to the cigarettes.

    Abstract: A hermetic rotary compressor has a motor unit composed of a stator and a rotor which are arranged in an upper portion of a hermetic housing, an oil-lubricated compressor unit arranged in a lower portion of the hermetic housing, a crank shaft which interconnects said motor unit and said compressor unit, a discharging silencer which is formed by a lower bearing of the compressor unit positioned around the lower end of the crank shaft and a cover of the lower bearing. The hermetic rotary compressor further has a lower balancing weight mounted around a lower shaft end portion of the crank shaft which extends to a position below the discharging silencer and a weight cup surrounding the lower balancing weight. In this hermetic rotary compressor, the lower balancing weight is not disposed within the discharging silencer.

    Abstract: A ceramic conduit with a metal outer tube is joined to bonding rings through insert members between end surfaces of the rings and annular bonding surfaces, with the annular bonding surface being not parallel to the axis of the conduit and the insert member being bonded to the ring and conduit. The rings are joined to the outer tube through welds between forward ends of annular protrusions provided in end surfaces which are the reverse surfaces of the surface bonded with the insert members and the forward ends of annular protrusions provided in axial end surfaces of the outer tube. The inner periphery of the outer tube is fitted on the outer periphery of the conduit with a small gap therebetween. The rings are bonded to the conduit with the insert members by being pressed against the conduit in the axial direction of the conduit and only a small quantity of heat is transmitted from the welds to other portions.

    Abstract: A paper feeding device for a paper cassette of an image processing apparatus. The paper cassette is mounted at a specific position on the image processing apparatus in a manner permitting the cassette to be pulled out. A preliminary feed roller feeds the paper on the paper cassette toward a feed roller which is normally energized in a paper pressing direction. When the paper cassette is mounted in the image processing apparatus, the document setting board disposed in the paper cassette is upwardly turned by a pressing mechanism. When the paper cassette is pulled out, the feed roller from the paper cassette is turned in reversed direction. A feed channel to guide the paper from the paper cassette is formed in a curved manner, and a normally turned delivery roller is provided inside the curved channel.

    Abstract: A carbon-carbon mirror for high thermal input space applications is comprised of a plurality of thermally conductive, metallic layers formed as a laminate structure atop a carbon-carbon substrate. Within the laminate structure, a first thin adhesion layer of chromium is formed directly on the surface of a carbon-carbon substrate. Atop the adhesion layer, a plating base layer of gold or copper is deposited, followed by a thick working/smnoothing layer of nickel, which serves as the optically reflective surface of the mirror. The nickel layer is polished to a precision flatness or smoothness. Because the underlying gold and chromium layers possess high thermal conductivity, they enhance the transmission of heat from the cladding layer to the underlying carbon-carbon substrate, thereby preventing the laminate from absorbing heat, which would lead to delamination of the structure.
