Abstract: A process and apparatus for separating briquettes and fragments in a product stream resulting from briquetting direct reduced iron. Separating and cooling of the briquettes and fragments are carried out simultaneously in an initial step with use of separating means submerged in a cooling bath. The process enables use of less rugged apparatus following the initial step and the apparatus is not subjected to handling the product stream at the elevated temperatures at which briquetting is carried out. Capital expenditure and equipment maintenance is thus reduced.
Abstract: An &agr;-lithium aluminate obtained through a solid-phase reaction of a &ggr;-alumina and a lithium compound, wherein said &agr;-lithium aluminate comprises particles having a round shape, with a BET specific surface area in the range of 4-7 m2/g, and substantially not including &ggr;-lithium aluminate. Further, said &agr;-lithium aluminate is manufactured by dry-mixing a &ggr;-alumina having a BET specific surface area in the range of 70-140 m2/g and a lithium compound, and then baking and reacting said compound in solid-phase.
Abstract: Various oxime derivatives are provided, which do not cause any chemical damage to plants and which exhibit sufficient effectiveness against various plant diseases. The oxime derivatives are expressed by two general chemical formulas (1) and (2), as follows.
Agricultural chemicals and plant disease control chemicals are also provided which contain the above mentioned oxime derivatives as active ingredients. Test results of these agricultural chemicals and the plant disease control chemicals are proved to be very effective for downey mildews and late blights or Phytophthora rot etc.
Abstract: A packaging machine has a folding rail 36 for guiding a prefolded bottom forming portion 14 of a container 11 fitted around a mandrel 31 from a first process station to a second process station during the movement of the mandrel 31 from the first to the second station while folding the bottom forming portion flat by contact therewith. The folding rail 36 comprises right and left two rail members 71, 72, with a clearance C formed therebetween for permitting an outer end of the prefolded bottom forming portion 14 of the container 11 fitted around the mandrel 31 to be inserted thereinto during the movement from the first to the second station. An unfolding preventing guide member 73 is disposed in the rail clearance C so as to come into contact with a required part of the bottom forming portion 14 during movement through the clearance.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an ink supplying apparatus equipped with an ink tray capable of improving the productivity based upon the labor-saving of an cleaning operation and the shortening of a preparatory time at ink replacement or the like in a printing press, with the ink tray being desirably attachable/detachable to enhance the operational efficiency. In front of an ink fountain, there is provided a fixing device which, for fixing an ink tray in the interior of the ink fountain, presses a bracket of the ink tray against a stopping section situated in the ink fountain.
Abstract: In a process for manufacturing a heat sink comprising a heat dissipating base plate and a multiplicity of tonguelike fins formed on an upper surface of the base plate, a heat sink blank of aluminum extrudate is formed which has a part for forming a thick portion of the base plate, a fin forming portion provided on an upper side of the thick portion forming part integrally therewith, a thin portion of the base plate provided at at least one of opposite sides of the thick portion forming part, and a level reference ridge formed on an upper surface of the thin portion and having an upper end at the same level as an upper surface of the thick portion to be formed. The fin forming portion of the blank is cut to a raised form at the same level as the level of the upper end of the reference ridge to form a multiplicity of tonguelike fins and form a thick portion of predetermined thickness under the fins.

Abstract: A projection exposure apparatus for projecting a pattern image of an illuminated mask onto a substrate. The optical path can be divided into a plurality of hermetic blocks each having an inert gas sealed therein by a plurality of partition devices. According a one aspect of the invention, a hermetic sealing member is disposed in the space between the substrate-side of the projection optical system and the substrate for replacing the atmosphere existing in the optical path of the illuminating light in that space by a substance other than oxygen. According to another aspect of the invention, a plurality of independent chambers are formed in a frame. Lids, piping, and valves in the chambers are opened or closed in response to the value detected by oxygen density sensors.
Abstract: An apparatus for deflecting light of the present invention comprises: (a) at least one pair of transference electrodes arranged facing one another; (b) a drive circuit which applies a voltage among the transference electrodes; and (c) a liquid crystal which is inserted among the transference electrodes, and whose parallel stripes that function as a diffraction grating when the voltage is applied among the transference electrodes are produced at a pitch corresponding to the applied voltage. The light can be scanned if a diffracted light by the apparatus for deflecting light is converted into a scanning light and a voltage value is changed temporally to apply the voltage among the transference electrodes. In a device for reading information, the scanning light is reflected in a bar code and the reflected light is detected by an apparatus for detecting light.

Abstract: The present invention provides a centrifugal turbomachinery having a good performance which can effectively reduce the secondary flow in the flow passage of the impeller and minimize the loss caused by the secondary flow without an excessive increase in manufacturing cost. An impeller has a plurality of blades (3) between an inlet (6a) at a central portion and an exit (6b) at a peripheral portion, and a flow passage formed between the blades for delivering fluid from the impeller inlet to the impeller exit by rotation the impeller. The blade (3) is leaned toward a circumferential direction so that the blade at the hub side (2) precedes the blade at the shroud side (4) in a rotational direction of the impeller. A blade lean angle, defined as an angle between the blade and a surface perpendicular to a hub surface as viewed from the direction of the exit, shows a decreasing tendency from the inlet to the exit.

The thermal printing mechanism comprises a frame, a motor and a gear assembly driving a roller (7), a thermal printing head (8), a member pressing (9) the head (8) on the roller (7), characterized in that it comprises a member providing at least vertical rigidity (1) to two separate sides of the frame and at least rotational resistance along an axis substantially perpendicular to a third side of the frame, or, at least rotational resistance to two sides of the frame. The invention is useful for printing mechanisms of electronic payment terminals.
Abstract: The floor of a motor vehicle which is assembled in a floor assembly station is transported to a subsequent station using at least two welding robots on each lateral side of the floor assembly station. These welding robots are constituted into dual-purpose welding robots for performing both welding work and transporting work. After the assembling of the floor has been finished, the floor is supported at four lateral and longitudinal jack-up points through the workpiece receiving member by the cooperation of these dual-purpose welding robots, and is transported from the floor assembly station to the subsequent station.
Abstract: A waterproof sheet fixing member for fixing a waterproof thermoplastic resin sheet on a structure to be waterproofed, includes a plate-like main member made of thermoplastic resin, and a conductive multi-aperture sheet having an upper surface and a lower surface. The conductive multi-aperture sheet has a plurality of joining apertures each communicating the upper surface with the lower surface, and is integrally provided in the main member. A method of fixing the waterproof thermoplastic resin sheet includes the steps of fixing the fixing member on a surface of the structure, spreading the waterproof thermoplastic resin sheet on the surface of the structure, and induction heating the conductive multi-aperture sheet via the waterproof thermoplastic resin sheet to melt a portion where the main member contacts the waterproof thermoplastic resin sheet. Thus, the main member is integrally welded to the waterproof thermoplastic resin sheet.
Abstract: An optical information recording/reproducing apparatus records information on and/or reproduces information from an optical recording medium based on a reflected light beam from the optical recording medium. The apparatus includes a light splitting part having a plurality of light splitting stages which split the reflected light beam from the optical recording medium into a plurality of light beams, and a photodetector unit including a plurality of photodetectors which receive the plurality of light beams from the light splitting part. The photodetector unit includes a plurality of photodetectors which receive light beams used to detect a focal error, at least one photodetector which receives a light beam used to detect a tracking error, and a plurality of photodetectors which receive light beams used to detect magneto-optic information recorded on the optical recording medium.
Abstract: A helical antenna having an antenna element covered with an insulating layer is formed by monolithically form the insulating layer so that the antenna element is integrated with the insulating layer. To be more precise, first, a cylindrical shell, which received a core pin in its center hole, is inserted into the antenna element along the longitudinal axis of the antenna element. The antenna element is put in a cavity of a molding die. A moulding resin which was heated and molten at a temperature higher than the melting point of the cylindrical shell is injected into the cavity to form an insulating cover over the cylindrical shell and the antenna element. The surface of the cylindrical shell starts softening upon contacting with the molten resin, and sticks around the helically coiled antenna line, whereby the pitch of the antenna element can be maintained substantially constant even if an injection pressure is applied during the molding.
