Abstract: In a modular system (10), with a holder part (12) for clamping in a spindle of a turning machine and a machining tool (14) attached interchangeably to this, the machining tool (14) has a hollow cylindrical shaft part (18) which overlaps a receiving mandrel (20) on the holder part (12) and is fixed to the holder part (12) by means of a screw device (28, 30) mounted on the holder part (12) and generating a tension or compression force via a tension or compression rod (22) running through the holder part (12) and the receiving mandrel (20). The end of the tension or compression rod (22) facing the machining tool (14) is expanded and under the effect of the tension or compression force leads to an expansion of the receiving mandrel (20) such that the peripheral surface (42) of the receiving mandrel (20) and the inner surface (44) of the shaft part (18) are clamped against each other to form a friction connection.

Abstract: A pneumatic cylinder, inside which a piston is displaced and which defines two chambers. The chambers are communicated through a first conduit passing through the piston and a second conduit at the ends of which there are variable flow valves. The first conduit has an adjustable valve. The load at any air chamber results in a working load which causes contact of the wheel with the ground for a longer period of time. An expansion spring is located at the lower air chamber. The piston is engaged with means for sensing its displacement. The invention could be applied to any kind of vehicle.
Abstract: An apparatus and process for attaching a protective thin film layer to a surface of a compact disc stamper are disclosed. An apparatus for carrying out the process comprises a base for supporting the compact disc stamper, a supply roll for providing the thin film protective layer to the compact disc stamper, and at least one bladder for inflating. The bladder is operative to be inflated against the protective layer for pressing the protective layer against the compact disc stamper. The apparatus may also include a mechanism for directing a vacuum induced suction force against the underside of the compact disc stamper for securing the same to the base while attaching the thin film protective layer to the compact disc stamper.
Abstract: A separator for use in a direct reduction reactor comprises an elongated tubular housing having a cooling chamber for receiving a cooling medium for cooling the internal wall surface of the separator contacted by metallized iron fines.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and a system for preventing mold flash. The method broadly comprises the steps of: introducing a fluid under pressure into a mechanism for applying a clamping force such as the clamping cylinder of a piston-cylinder unit; increasing the pressure of the fluid in the clamping force applying mechanism so as to apply a clamping force to the mold; injecting moldable material into the mold; measuring actual pressure in the clamping force applying mechanism; and determining whether the mold is close to blowing open when the moldable material is injected into the mold using the actual measured pressure in the clamping cylinder.
Abstract: An open-in-the-ear auditory pathway stimulator device includes a noise generator in the device for generating noise and controls in the device for adjusting the volume of the noise. The device is preferably open ear. The device is preferably programmable. The device can also include a hearing aid for amplifying ambient sounds.
Abstract: A catalyst for production of alkyl tert alkyl ether from sulfur contaminated feedstock includes an ion exchange resin; a palladium first metal phase supported on the resin; and a sulfur inhibiting second metal phase supported on the resin for inhibiting sulfur deactivation of the first metal phase, wherein the first metal phase is present at an atomic ratio to the second metal phase of between about 1:20 to about 1:0.1. A process for producing alkyl tert alkyl ethers includes the steps of providing a liquid olefinic hydrocarbon feedstock containing sulfur and having a total sulfur content of up to about 300 ppm; providing a catalyst as described above; mixing the feedstock with alcohol and hydrogen to obtain a reaction feedstock; and contacting the reaction feedstock with the catalyst under etherification conditions so as to produce alkyl tert alkyl ether.

Abstract: The invention proposes an apparatus an a method of welding together articles made of a termoplastic material by means of a butt welding method. The articles are held in coaxial relationship by means of a pair of clamping mechanisms. A heating element can be brought between the two articles to heat up their respective facing front faces, whereafter the heating element is removed and the heated front faces brought into mutual contact. For determining the strength of the welding zone, the ambient temperature is considered. For this purpose, a thermal sensor is provided that is arranged at the welding apparatus. The thermal sensor is thermally insulated against the welding apparatus.
Abstract: A machine to make up doses of semen in a container comprising welded thermoplastics films that can be opened by hand without using instruments in order to insert therein an insemination probe includes a tubular needle having a nozzle over which is threaded a cleaning ring to prevent coating of a region to be sealed by welding with semen and to keep the walls of the thermoplastics films dry after filling the dose with semen. The sealing weld is made by a device having inverted U-shape jaws. An incision perpendicular to the branches of the U-shape is made at the same level as the latter by an incision device including an orientable blade.

Abstract: A system for clamping an object, such as a heater, to a cylindrical member, such as a nozzle or a hot runner channel is described. The system has at least one deformable elastic member for applying a clamping force to the object so as to hold the object against an outer surface of the cylindrical member and an annular sleeve for compressing the at least one deformable elastic member and for directing the clamping force radially inwardly toward the cylindrical member. The deformable elastic member, in one embodiment, is formed by a spring member which surrounds the object and the cylindrical member. In an alternative embodiment, the deformable elastic member comprises a plurality of hollow tubes surrounding the object and the cylindrical member, which tubes are hollow, thin walled, and elastic. The annular sleeve is preferably formed from a material having a thermal expansion coefficient less than the thermal expansion coefficient of the material forming the cylindrical member.
