Abstract: A plasticizing unit having a plasticizing screw, an injection piston connected to the screw, a quill connected to the piston, and hydraulic cavity formed by the piston and a quill end face. Hydraulic fluid is transferred to the hydraulic cavity to move the piston and screw away from the quill. The screw and piston are subsequently moved towards the quill to displace hydraulic fluid out of the hydraulic cavity and cause back pressure. The back pressure is counteracted by acting on the back of the quill.

Abstract: Apparatus for treating composite elements for the recovery of valuable substances therefrom, including providing a flow path for a transport fluid carrying solid particles from the composite elements, an array of mutually successive acceleration tools which are moved relative to a stator and which each form in the flow direction a break-away edge for producing turbulence from the transport fluid and its solid particle load, wherein the accretion tools are arranged at a spacing relative to each other on a structural circle in a plurality of mutually superposed acceleration planes above a housing bottom on plates about a central shaft of a rotor and within a cylindrical wall of a housing as said stator.
Abstract: In a driving recorder, angular velocity data and acceleration data of a vehicle are sequentially measured and stored into a memory along with time information, thereby updating the data stored in the memory in sequence. If a shock due to crash or the like occurs at the vehicle, a given time period is set for further data storage. When the time is up, the data storage into the memory is stopped. Thus, the memory holds at least the angular velocity data and the acceleration data for the set time period after detection of the occurrence of shock and for a given time period before detection of the occurrence of shock. Upon analysis, a travel analyzer is connected to the driving recorder for reading out the data stored in the memory. Based on the read-out data, the travel analyzer produces data representing a travel history of the vehicle and visually expresses such travel history data.
Abstract: The present invention teaches a method of extracting TAXOL.RTM. from the leaves of taxus cupidata plants. The process comprises a series of steps, including the concentration of the extracts obtained from the plant, the separation of the aqueous and chloroform phases, and several purification procedures. In addition, the present invention teaches a multi-step process wherein the virtual removal of chlorophyll is achieved prior to the introduction of the extract into the silica gel packing material. This prevents the deactivation of the silica gel packing material by chlorophyll in the extract solution.
Abstract: A process for conversion of iron oxide to iron carbide, including the steps of: providing a fluidized bed reactor having a metallizing zone and a carburizing zone; feeding iron oxide to the reactor; feeding a reducing gas to the reactor so as to provide reduced iron in the metallizing zone; and feeding a carburizing gas to the carburizing zone so as to provide a final iron carbide product in the carburizing zone having between about 2.2% wt. and about 6.5 wt. % carbon and at least about 80% wt. iron.
Abstract: A non-volatile static random access memory device configured by adding a floating gate type metal oxide semiconductor device to an SRAM including a pair of access elements respectively switched on and off in accordance with the state of a signal on an address line and adapted to establish a data transfer path between memory cell and associated negative and positive data lines, and a pair of inverters respectively coupled to the access elements, thereby allowing the SRAM to exhibit non-volatile memory characteristics. The floating gate type MOS device has a silicon substrate, a tunneling oxide film formed over the silicon substrate, a floating gate formed on the tunneling oxide film, an oxide film formed over the floating gate, a control gate formed over the oxide film, and a source and a drain respectively formed in an upper surface of the silicon substrate at both sides of the control gate.

Abstract: Filler spatula/plane made of plastic for removing material from surfaces that are to be repaired by means of a filler. The filler can be introduced as before using the filler spatula/plane, whereby at the same time, there remains enough space in the working device for a cleaning tool for the surface of the spatula and for a device that is suitable for removing the excess material in the intact area around the damaged site. The filler spatula/plane has ribs on the outside which are elevated out of the plane of the outside and run across the longitudinal edge with a spacing between them, and between the two insides of the broad sides, it has a removable tool for at least cleaning the ribs and the interspaces between the ribs. In addition, a nonwoven emery cloth can also be arranged between the two insides.

Abstract: High strength, high conductivity copper alloy wire and a cable therefrom and method for manufacturing same, wherein the copper alloy contains chromium from 0.15-1.30%, zirconium from 0.01-0.15% and the balance essentially copper. The alloy wire is heat treated, cold worked to an intermediate gage, heat treated, cold worked to final gage, and finally heat treated.
Abstract: A process for scavenging hydrogen sulfide and mercaptan contaminants from a fluid, including the steps of: providing a fluid containing hydrogen sulfide and mercaptan contaminants; mixing the fluid with a benign contaminant scavenger so as to provide a fluid mixture; and subjecting the fluid mixture to scavenging conditions so as to provide a fluid product containing benign contaminant transformants.
Abstract: A trunk lid for convertible vehicles with a foldable hard top can be opened from the rear towards the front for access to the trunk or from the front towards the rear for placing and stowing the folded hard top in the trunk. The trunk lid comprises two members fastened together when the trunk lid is opened from the rear towards the front, one of these two members being dissociable from the other member so that it can be pivoted from the front towards the rear.
Abstract: An aiming device for handheld firearms comprises a rear notch sight and a front sight, in which case the rear notch sight (1) has an essentially trapezoidal rear notch sight cutout (6) which diverges downward from an upper edge (5), and the front sight (2) has an essentially triangular outline whose upper tip (10) bisects the upper side (7) of the trapezoidal rear notch sight cutout (6), so that an unobstructed gap (15, 16) is formed in each case between the sides (8, 9) of the trapezoidal rear notch sight cutout (6) and the sides (11, 12) of the triangular outline of the front sight (2). This provides an aiming device which quickly and unambiguously points the eye at the target while aiming.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a cooling device to be used with an index molding machine having a rotary turret block with at least two movable mold halves thereon. The cooling device includes a frame attached to a support for the rotary turret block, cooling tubes for receiving and cooling at least one molded part, which cooling tubes are mounted to a surface of a carrier plate connected to the frame, and an actuation device for moving the carrier plate between a first orientation where the cooling tubes are aligned with the at least one molded part and a second orientation where the at least one molded part cooled within the cooling tubes. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the cooling device also includes at least one blowing tube for blowing cool air onto the at least one molded part.
