Abstract: A method for distillation of sulfur for preparing radioactive phosphorous nuclide includes the steps of: charging powdered sulfur into a target tube designed to have an upper and a bottom neck; degassing the target tube to form a vacuum therein, followed by heating the upper neck to seal the target tube; irradiating neutrons into the sealed target tube to produce radioactive phosphorous nuclide; heating the distillation zone to distill the remaining unreacted sulfur; and cleaving the target tube at the bottom neck to separate the distillation and the cooling zone from each other, the separated zones containing the radioactive phosphorous nuclide and the unreacted sulfur, respectively, whereby the radioactive phosphorous nuclide of high purity can be prepared while the sulfur can be recovered at high efficiency.

Abstract: A machine tool comprising a cabin (5) provided with side walls (1, 2) and doors (3, 4), a slide (6) for the reception of a spindle head in which tools are clamped, and with a concertina (7) serving as a roof cover, the concertina (7), by means of the slide (6), being able to be unfolded, folded up and/or transported parallel to the longitudinal side (14) of the slide (6) and perpendicular to the side walls (1, 2).
Abstract: There is provided an optical system 8 for a micro analyzing system capable of precisely analyzing a sample. In the optical system 8, after light beams leaving the tip of an optical fiber 14 pass through a condensing part 13, a sample moving in a separation passage 6 due to electrophoresis is irradiated with the light beams. The condensing part 13 includes a first aspherically cylindrical surface 10 being convex toward the optical fiber 14, a second aspherically cylindrical surface 11 being convex on the opposite side to the first aspherically cylindrical surface 10, and a third aspherically cylindrical surface 12 being convex toward the second aspherically cylindrical surface 11. The first through third aspherically cylindrical surfaces 10 through 12 are arranged in that order from the side of the optical fiber 14 toward the separation passage 6.
Abstract: A method of processing a query about an Extensible Markup Language (XML) data. The XML query processing method includes the first step of representing the XML data in the form of an XML graph, the second step of creating and updating an Adaptive Path indEX (APEX) based on frequently used paths extracted from previously processed XML queries and the XML graph, and the third step of processing an XML query using the APEX. The XML query processing is capable of improving the performance of processing the query by extracting frequently used paths from path expressions having been used as queries for XML data and updating the APEX through the use of the frequently used paths.

Abstract: At least one feed core and at least one wall cooling core are assembled with a number of elements of a die for forming a cooled turbine engine element investment casting pattern. A sacrificial material is molded in the die. The sacrificial material is removed from the die. The removing includes extracting a first of the die elements from a compartment in a second of the die elements before disengaging the second die element from the sacrificial material. The first element includes a compartment receiving an outlet end portion of a first of the wall cooling cores in the assembly and disengages therefrom in the extraction.

Abstract: There is provided a metal/ceramic bonding substrate capable of preventing the reverse thereof from greatly warping so as to be concave even if it is heated for soldering. In the metal/ceramic bonding substrate, a metal circuit plate 12 is bonded to one side of a ceramic substrate 10, and a heat sink plate (metal base plate) 14 is bonded to the other side thereof. On the heat sink plate 14, a work-hardened layer 16 is formed by shot peening. On the metal circuit plate 12 of the metal/ceramic bonding substrate, semiconductor chips (Si chips) 18 are soldered (solder layer 20). Then, a power module is produced by a predetermined process. On the reverse (the side of the work-hardened layer 16) of the power module, a radiating fin 26 is mounted via a thermal grease 24 by means of screws 22 or the like.
