Abstract: Apparatus is illustrated for fastening a petroleum delivery drop hose having looped reinforcement to a fitting wherein a clamping member includes a pair of opposed grating members A and B which may be opened and closed to receive and to exert a gripping force on the hose, by receiving the looped reinforcement between transverse grating bars, resisting longitudinal movement during insertion of the fitting in an open end of the hose.
Abstract: This invention relates generally to pumps, and more particularly, to a new concept in pumps where the principle of operation is based on the change in momentum of a curved, fluid jet curtain, with the pump itself containing no moving parts.
Abstract: An ornamental pressure operated musical display assembly is illustrated wherein a pressure actuated electrical music box and the like is provided with a depressible indicia carrying member C extending thereacross on one side for actuating the music box and for displaying the indicia E with a magnet G extending across a portion of a bottom of the music box for mounting the assembly on a magnetic surface.
Abstract: A fluid operated apparatus having a cylinder assembly, a piston and a rod is illustrated wherein cap members are provided with a first circumferential groove and a reduced end portion while a second circumferential groove is carried opposite the first circumferential groove within the cylinder assembly forming a seat for a deformable ring. A method of assembling the fluid operated apparatus contemplates inserting an end cap into the cylinder and then mounting a deformable ring in an adjacent groove in the cylinder and then forcing the cap out so that the ring passes over a reduced end portion of the cap and is positioned in the seat formed between the opposed grooves.
Abstract: A tenter frame is illustrated wherein a chain is fabricated by press fitting a pin receiving bushing constructed of Vespel and the like into a steel bushing and then boring a pin receiving opening therein and utilizing wear strips constructed of Vespel in a dovetail configuration opposite the tenter chain providing a lubrication free tenter wherein the chain may be tensioned without excessive stretching. Also illustrated are lubrication-free tenter-clip jaw pivot bushings.
Abstract: A novel process of broadcasting live televised programs, whereby multiple video options are made available to the viewer on existing conventional cable ready receivers and are obtainable by viewer selection.
Abstract: A textile fabric dryer and method of heat treating a shrinkable web in a range is illustrated wherein a plurality of serially arranged driven conveyor modules are provided for more accurately controlling tension in the web during heat treatment.
Abstract: A coalescer filter is illustrated for removing material from a gas wherein a collection of liquid coalesced by passing a gaseous stream upwardly within a coalescing material packed in an upright cylindrical housing is facilitated by creating a pressure drop in a tube by venturi action and communicating the pressure drop to a canister. The use of a float valve is also illustrated for controlling the discharge of liquid collected in a sealed drainage canister receiving coalesced liquid from a lower portion of an upright column or housing containing coalescing material through which a gaseous stream is passed upwardly.
Abstract: An improved probe for the measurement of the skin temperature of a living organism is provided. The probe has a probe head constructed of thermally and electrically insulative material and having a generally convex surface for skin contact. The probe head defines a depression in the surface wherein a thermocouple will lie. Additionally, provided is an apparatus using an improved first probe and an improved second probe mounted onto a housing in a mutually symmetrical relationship to measure the temperature differential of bilateral areas of the skin of a living organism.
Abstract: A curved stairway is illustrated wherein the usual wooden components, including the stringers A, are provided with steel reinforcement, including metallic stringers B provided with cross bracing D and E in order to provide a composite structure affording rigidity with minimal reinforcement.
Abstract: A combustion chamber for eliminating used steam and condensate from a frankfurter peeler is provided having a jacket utilizing a source of vacuum for receiving exhaust steam and condensate from an extension of a perforate frankfurter conditioning chamber and for discharging said exhaust steam and moisture having been used for conditioning a frankfurter for removal of its cellulosic casing prior to packaging.
Abstract: A batch dyeing machine 10 has separate imperforate compartments A and B for facilitating washing of a length of fabric as it is transported from one compartment to the other. A squeeze roll 50 prevents used wash water from passing from one compartment into the other with the fabric. By separating the compartments, wash liquid is conserved in that only one of the compartments need be filled at a time and a counterflow wash system is provided. Thus, the washing capabilities of a batch dyeing machine have been enhanced.
Abstract: A clip is illustrated for attaching a fiching lure to a line which includes a line attaching loop and a pair of elongated diverging tension bars extending symetrically from free ends of the loop and with the tension bars having a pair of inwardly converging bars carried thereby with overlapping end portions for holding a pair of overlapping loops which are separable by depressing the tension bars between a thumb and forefinger for changing or replacing a fishing lure.
Abstract: A device for providing an adjustable hanging file holder frame which is adaptable to a variety of existing office and desk organizing systems. In the preferred form of the invention, resilient, flexible clips are used to attach support rods to existing office or desk organization systems. The support rods provide the frame or rail upon which hanging files may be placed. The support rods are reversibly attached to the resilient clip members by a coupling head. The coupling head is configured to allow its forcible insertion into a mated receptacle within the clip member. When the support rod coupling head is within the receptacle, the clip mechanism is free to rotate about the support rod. The clip permits a variety of different shaped objects to be secured, providing a versatile, adaptable means of providing a hanging file folder frame.
Abstract: A gas purification apparatus which is operable utilizing an upflow direct impingement coalescer. A central inlet in the lower portion of a column expands the flow of air and liquid droplets (vertical flow to horizontal separation). The droplets lose velocity and are impinged in the packing. Migration is first outward from the main gas flow and then downward. Finally, the liquids are drained at the bottom. A collar around the central inlet insures that liquid will not reenter into the central inlet.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for locating and determining the quality of a downhole wet cement abandonment plug positioned in an open bore hole. The quality of the plug is detetmined by retrieving a sample of the wet cement mixture to the surface by remotely operating a fluid sampler included as one component in a logging tool. The sample permits the determination of the purity and quality of a downhole wet cement plug, providing valuable information for assessing whether the plug will set properly. Thus the method and apparatus greatly reduces the risk of plug failure due to an inferior cement mixture resulting from the intrusion of contaminants in a wet cement plug.
