  • Patent number: 7097743
Abstract: A method is provided for operating a coke oven battery including many identical coking chambers, a raw gas receiver, and throttle devices arranged in the receiver for individually controlling the gas pressure in the chambers. Each throttle device includes an immersion bucket acted upon by water. Gas lines terminating in immersion pipes in the immersion buckets connect the chambers with the receiver. Throttle devices are employed that include an overflow that can be vertically adjusted by an actuating drive for controlling the liquid level in the immersion bucket. For a coking chamber to which a pressure control device is allotted, the setting signals for the actuating drive allocated to the time pressure curve in the process of carbonizing coal to coke are recorded as a position-time curve. The actuating drives of throttle devices that are allocated to coking chambers without pressure control devices are controlled according to the position-time curve.

  • Patent number: 7096756
Abstract: A sintered connecting rod for an internal combustion engine comprises a connecting rod eye (1) for receiving a piston pin, a connecting rod big end (3) for holding the crank pin and a shaft (2) made of two diverging longitudinal bridges (4) which are optionally stiffened by a connecting bridge (5) and whose mutually facing bridge flanks (11) are connected in the zone of the connecting rod big end (3) by a central concave rounding (9). In order to ensure advantageous loading conditions it is proposed that the longitudinal bridges (4) of the shaft (2) diverge from the connecting rod big end (3) to the connecting rod eye (1).

  • Patent number: 7094321
Abstract: A device for controlling the gas pressure in a coke oven chamber, has an immersion cup, to which water is supplied, and with an immersion pipe which is connected to the gas space of the coke oven chamber and terminates in the, immersion cup. The immersion cup has an overflow and a closeable outflow. To control the liquid level, an outflow pipe for water is provided, the inflow-side end of which projects into the immersion pipe and contains casing-side inflow orifices for the inflow of water. Within the outflow pipe is arranged a slide which is open on both end faces and which closes the inflow orifices of the outflow pipe in the longitudinal direction according to the position of said slide and forms a vertically adjustable overflow for the water flowing into the outflow pipe.

  • Patent number: 7094305
Abstract: A method of producing batches of micro particles includes affixing a substrate sheet to a support and cutting the substrate sheet with a laser device to define a plurality of micro particles. Before, after or during the cutting of the substrate sheet, the region of the substrate sheet defining each micro particle is marked with a code or other identifying marking using a laser device. The code or other identifying marking is unique to the particular batch of micro particles to uniquely identify that batch. The micro particles are removed from the support by a solvent. Preferably, a single laser device is used for cutting the substrate sheet and marking the micro particles. Alternatively, separate laser devices may be used for cutting the substrate sheet and marking the micro particles.

  • Patent number: 7095033
Abstract: A system and method for authenticating a multi-sided die by viewing the die under invisible ultraviolet light. A die body has a plurality of sides of substantially equal area. A plurality of visible markings for indicating a roll of the die are disposed on the die sides. One or more of the markings include a substance which visibly reacts with invisible ultraviolet light. One or more authentication marks including a substance which visibly reacts with invisible ultraviolet light are arranged in a selected pattern on one or more of the die sides. A position of the authentication mark or marks in the selected pattern corresponds to the visible marking having a substance which visibly reacts with invisible ultraviolet light. An overlay key correlates the position of the authentication mark with the visible marking.

  • Patent number: 7093431
Abstract: The present invention relates to an exhaust gas treatment device (1), in particular for an internal combustion engine, preferably in a motor vehicle, comprising a housing (2) as well as a substrate body (3) which is situated therein and through which exhaust gases can flow in an axial direction (5). The substrate body (3) is supported axially on the housing (2) via an axial bearing (8) on at least one axial end face (11). To improve the axial support of the substrate body (3), the axial bearing (8) has a supporting ring (10) mounted on the housing and having a U-shaped profile (12), which is open axially toward the end face (11). A bearing ring (17) made of bearing material engages into the U-shaped profile (12) of the supporting ring (10) on its axial end, which faces away from the substrate body (3) and is supported thereon axially. With its axial end facing the substrate body (3), the bearing ring (17) is supported on the end face (11).

  • Patent number: 7088212
Abstract: A transformer having variable reluctance, that controls the amount of power conveyed from an input to a load, based on a value selected by a computer control. The load power is varied by controlling the section and air gap between two parallel iron cores and a magnetic reluctance shifter positioned between the cores to vary the magnetic reluctance. The shifter is rotated by a motor. The position of the shifter varies the reluctance of the transformer and thus varies the amount of voltage transmitted from the primary winding to the secondary winding of the transformer. The iron core transformer is mounted in a non-magnetic frame and the windings are made from insulated braided copper strips, or insulated twisted cable.

  • Patent number: 7083235
Abstract: A convertible piece of upholstered furniture can be converted via motorized conversion aids from a seat function into a bed, by way of any desired number of intermediate stages, and vice versa. All movable parts can be fully stressed by a person during conversion, even when a person is sitting or lying on the piece of furniture. These changes can take place even when the piece is being used by a person, whereby each movable part of the piece of upholstered furniture can be changed by means of a motor drive having a control. The footrest and the seat part are configured so that they can move out of a base frame with their metal fittings. A lever construction arranged on the metal fitting of the footrest and a motor drive adjusts the height and angle of the footrest and moves the piece of furniture to the various positions.
