Abstract: A calibration information calculation unit (540) calculates a plurality of candidates of first coordinate transformation information using a plurality of candidates of second coordinate transformation information, a sensor measured value, and the position and orientation of a video camera (100) on the world coordinate system. The calibration information calculation unit (540) then calculates a piece of first coordinate transformation information by combining the plurality of calculated candidates. Then, the calibration information calculation unit (540) makes iterative calculations for correcting calibration information using a candidate of the second coordinate transformation information and the first coordinate transformation information as initial values of the calibration information.

Abstract: A pixel position corresponding to dust present on an image sensor and its optical system is detected from a dust detection sensed image. It is checked for a normally sensed image obtained by normal image sensing whether each pixel data is data at the pixel position corresponding to dust. Data at the pixel position corresponding to dust undergoes a correction process. An image sensing apparatus capable of suppressing the influence of dust on a sensed image even if dust attaches to the image sensor or its optical system can be realized.

The additional information includes the thumbnail image of the digital image.
Abstract: An apparatus, such as a focus adjusting apparatus, includes a focus adjusting system, a driving device which drives the focus adjusting system from one of a state in which a near-distance object is in focus and a state in which a far-distance object is in focus to the other, and a control device which repeatedly performs determination of a focusing state of the focus adjusting system while causing the driving device to drive the focus adjusting system, and, if the focus adjusting system has been driven in one direction until the number of times of the determination repeatedly performed reaches a predetermined number of times, restrains the focus adjusting system from being driven in the one direction, so that a focus adjusting operation can be appropriately performed.
Abstract: An image-taking apparatus is disclosed, which is capable of reducing the influence of the one-side blur by the automatic focusing function. The image-taking apparatus comprises a focus detector, which detects the focus state of the plurality of focus detection areas, and a selector, which selects a focus target area from a plurality of focus detection area based on the detection result of the focus detector. In a case where a first object distance to a first object is longer than a first predetermined distance, and a second object distance to a second object, which exists on an outer side of the first object in the image-taking screen, is shorter than the first object distance by a second predetermined distance or more, the selector selects the focus detection area corresponding to the second object as the focus target area.
Abstract: A reproducing apparatus calculates available dubbing speeds based on a transmission capacity of the reproducing apparatus. The reproducing apparatus selects a dubbing speed N among the available dubbing speeds, wherein N is 2, 4 or 8. The reproducing apparatus reproduces digital information including a plurality of fixed-length packets from a first recording medium at a bit rate corresponding to the dubbing speed N. The reproducing apparatus (a) determines the number of the fixed-length packets included in one transmission packet in accordance with the dubbing speed N, (b) generates transmission packets from the digital information reproduced from the first recording medium, wherein each of the transmission packets includes the determined number of fixed-length packets, and (c) transmits the transmission packets to an external recording device so that the external recording device can record the digital information to a second recording medium at a bit rate corresponding to the dubbing speed N.
Abstract: A client computer installs a plurality of functions in advance, and the client computer accesses a server computer to inform a function desired to be used to the server computer. The server computer charges the price of the informed function to a user, and transmits the fact to the client computer. By removing the function limitation of the charged function, the client computer becomes possible to use the function. Consequently, because the user can use a necessary function by paying only the price of the function, the user can save the costs of the use. Moreover, because the user is not required to download a new function, the user can save time.
Abstract: An image sensing apparatus includes an optical member that bends and changes the optical path of the incident light; a first lens group, that is driven to retract at least partially inside the image sensing apparatus when a picture is not to be taken and to be projected outside the image sensing apparatus and toward the subject when a picture is to be taken; and a second lens group, as well as a lens barrier for protecting the first lens group when said first lens group is retracted inside the image sensing apparatus. The optical member moves to a position where the optical path of the optical image of the subject, which is incident via the first lens group, is changed to the direction of the second lens group when a picture is to be taken, and moves to a position where it is withdrawn from this area when a picture is not to be taken.
