Abstract: A gate latch device consists of a length of chain coupled to a gate post and wound on a drum rotatably mounted on a fence post adjacent the gate. The chain draws the gate into closed position in the fence as the drum is manually rotated.
Abstract: A common indicator unit for a radio receiver and transceiver includes a segment type indicator consisting of a plurality of digits. An indication output corresponding to the receiving frequency of the radio receiver and an indication output corresponding to the channel of the transceiver are applied to the input terminal of the indicator after selection by switching.
Abstract: Optical transmission line glass includes phosphorus pentoxide and germanium dioxide as the major glass forming oxides and gallium trioxide for waterproofing and refractive index control. A method of manufacture of such glass material utilizes a gas phase chemical reaction.
Abstract: A pair of rectangular parallelepiped boxes are affixed to the oversurface of a base member which is mounted on wheels. Each of the boxes is positioned at a corresponding one of a first pair of sides and extends between a second pair of sides of the base member. Each of the boxes has a top and an open end at one of the second pair of sides. The open ends are selectively coverable by doors. A bed support member covers the camper by resting on top of the boxes and extending therebetween when the camper is in transit and resting on the tops at the other of the second pair of sides when the camper is assembled. A plurality of support devices are provided on the bed support member and on the top of the boxes for supporting tubular brace members for maintaining the bed support member level above the ground and for supporting arcuate tent support members for maintaining a tent above the base member and the bed support member. A plurality of legs are foldably mounted on the undersurface of the base member.
Abstract: An endotracheal support and stabilization device has a generally oval frame framing the face of a user. The frame has a cross-member extending across the face of the user at the level of the nose. The cross-member is movably adjustably mounted on the frame for adjustment to different positions according to different nose positions on different faces. Clamps on the cross-member secure external hoses to the cross-member in a manner whereby tubing from the hoses is maintained inserted into the nostrils of the user without pressure on the nose. A fastener is affixed to the frame and extendable around the back of the user's head for releasably supporting the frame in position framing the user's face with the cross-member extending across the user's nose.
Abstract: A ball joint is affixed to the harness of a kite and a kite string is tied at its first end to the ball joint. A kite tethering device is affixed to the frame of a bicycle for affixing the second end of the string to the bicycle. The kite tethering device comprises an elastic cord affixed at its first end to the second end of the kite string. A tubular member has a ball joint seat formed in a first end thereof for accommodating the ball joint. The elastic cord passes through the tubular member and out of such member at the second end thereof. A clamp affixed to the second end of the elastic cord is clamped to the frame of the bicycle between the seat and the rear wheel thereof whereby when the kite is not borne aloft, the elastic cord maintains the ball joint seated in the ball joint seat of the tubular member.
Abstract: A farm machine coupling utilizes a wedge having an internally threaded bore formed therein for accommodating a bolt threadedly coupled in a coupling member of a shank affixed to a farm machine. When the coupling end of an agricultural attachment for performing an agricultural task is positioned on the free end of the shank and the wedge is positioned in the rectangular sleeve type coupling end next-adjacent the shank and the bolt coupled in the coupling member is threadedly coupled in the wedge, the attachment is removably tightenable on the shank via the bolt and the wedge.
Abstract: A smoker's pipe has a tobacco bowl for burning tobacco and a stem extending from the bowl. A control system produces a draft via a free flow of air through tobacco in the bowl whereby the tobacco burns freely and evaporates moisture in the tobacco and eliminates nicotine and tar to provide a milder smoke when the pipe is free from drawing and puffing by a smoker. The control system draws smoke from burning tobacco in the bowl through the stem to the smoker's mouth when the smoker draws or puffs.
Abstract: A holding part is affixed to the holding member of pruning shears and extends perpendicularly from the backing surface of said holding member along a blunt corner edge thereof. A clamping part is slidably mounted on the facing surface of a blade of the pruning shears for movement in directions toward and away from the cutting edge of the blade. The clamping part extends perpendicularly from the facing surface of the blade and has the same configuration as the holding part. The clamping part is spring-biased in position spaced from the cutting edge of the blade in a manner whereby when the shears are fully closed after severing a stem, the clamping part and the holding part securely clamp the severed stem between them.
Abstract: A wall-mounted fork lift has a pair of support arms hingedly affixed to support members which move up and down along a pair of guide rails mounted on a vertical wall. The support arms are mounted for movement to a rest position in close proximity with the wall and to an operating position perpendicular to the wall. The support arms have pallet-supporting devices extending therefrom for supporting a loaded pallet between them.
Abstract: A lever is pivotally mounted in the back of a cage at the center of the lever and is balanced therein. The lever has a first end in the cage with a tray thereon for bait and a spaced opposite second end movably positioned between a first pair of spaced parallel posts supported a predetermined distance from the back of the cage. A trip rod has a length longer than the distance between the posts and rests on the lever between the posts and the cage. A cord has a first end affixed to the front bottom edge of a trap door hingedly affixed to the top of the cage at the front thereof and a spaced opposite second end affixed to the center of the trip rod. The cord is guided along the top of the cage and around the cross bar in a manner whereby the trap door is held open and when an animal depresses the front end of the lever by taking the bait, the second end of the lever moves upward and knocks the trip rod free thereby slackening the cord so that the trap door is released and closed.
Abstract: A vehicular burglar alarm system has an actuating relay which is energized when an intruder closes the ignition switch after the user has set an alarm switch. When the actuating relay is energized, it energizes a control relay which closes various relay contact switches to sound the horn, energize the headlights, energize the emergency lights and cut off the engine of the vehicle.
Abstract: A pair of symmetrical elongated gripping members are affixed to each other in angular relation by a generally V-shaped resilient joining member. Each of the gripping members has a length-extending edge with a plurality of spaced partially circular notches formed therein. The notches have diameters varying from a minimum in the area of the joining member to a maximum in the area of the free ends. Handles extend from the free ends of the gripping members to facilitate urging such free ends toward each other to grasp a lid of a container between corresponding notches of the gripping members.
Abstract: A fish lure has a top plate-like strip mounted on a closed loop and extending diametrically across the loop perpendicularly to a fishing line affixed to the top of the loop. A pair of bottom plate-like strips are mounted on the loop in the bottom part thereof and extend at an angle with each other. Each of the bottom strips is mounted on the loop at one end in angular relation with the top strip. Each of the bottom strips is essentially planar and curves slightly at its farther end from the loop. Fishing hooks are affixed to the distant ends of the bottom strips.
Abstract: An annular slide member has an inner circular surface and a circular slot formed in its inner surface. The slide member is rotatably mounted for free rotation about its axis. A guide device, adjustable in length, is provided as a variable length diameter of the slide member and is fixed in the slot of the slide member so that it is freely rotatable with the slide member about the axis of the slide member for marking a circle or part of a circle of any diameter smaller than that of the slide member.
