  • Patent number: 6918491
Abstract: A display stand has supporting base which is self-erecting by a pivotal board located within the base. The pivotal board is biased by an elastic cord and is pivotable between a horizontal position transverse to the base and a vertical downward position at which it is juxtaposed to the front panel of the base. The pivotal board is engageable with a horizontal slot opening formed in the rear panel of the base for maintaining the base in the erected condition. The side panels of the base are also foldable inwards along two vertical fold lines formed in the middle therein. A second elastic cord is connected between these fold lines so that it would pull the side panels to fold inwards at the vertical fold lines when the pivotal board is pulled downwards to disengage from the horizontal slot opening. A display tray is disposable in a forward sloping position on the base and the base in the collapsed folded condition may be placed within the tray for shipping, transporting, or storage.

  • Patent number: 6897573
Abstract: A manually operated voltage generating device provides an electrical voltage for operating an electronic unit such as a remote control handheld unit. The device has a permanent magnet mounted in a horizontal manner at the underside of a mild steel plate. The magnet is normally located in a spaced manner from the central post of an E-shaped core. A winding is wound on the central post. A compression spring mounted over the core maintains the magnet normally spaced above the core. The mild steel plate is operative in an up and down manner against the spring force of the spring to move the magnet in a reciprocating movement relative to the core so as to generate a current in the winding. The current charges a capacitor, and the voltage across the capacitor provide the electrical voltage for operating the electronic unit.

  • Patent number: 6882594
Abstract: The system repels noxious flying insects such as female mosquitos from an intended area by broadcasting a series of ultrasonic turbulence waves over the area. The turbulence waves have frequencies which are multiples of the wing beat speed of the insects. The ultrasonic waves are inaudible to humans or animals and they cause the wings of the insects to fluctuate and vibrate such that the insect avoid flying into the intended area.

  • Patent number: 6871750
Abstract: A foldable display stand having three opened side shelves is formed by two stepped side panels, a front panel, and a rear panel which are formed from a single geometrical figure formed in a single sheet material. The stand is foldable into a collapsed condition relative to two vertical fold lines formed on the side panel and located opposite to one another. The front panel will abut the rear panel when the stand is folded in the collapsed condition. The shelves are formed by a plurality of panels formed in an upper extension to the front panel and the rear panel. These panels are foldable relative to horizontal fold lines to form the three shelves resting horizontally on stepped upper edges of the side panels. Open end slots are formed in a free end edge of end panels of the front panel and rear panel, which are engageable with upper edges of the side panels for latching the opened side shelves securely in the horizontal position.

  • Patent number: 6857552
Abstract: A method and apparatus for soldering terminal ends of an antenna embedded in a plastic smart card to contact terminals of an IC module disposed on the card are shown. The enamel coated antenna terminal ends are pre-coated with solder with a heater having horizontal opening with melted solder retained therein. The solder pre-coated terminal ends are maintained in a secured contact with the terminal contacts of the IC module by heating coils mounted at a free front end of two pivotal elongated cantilever arms. A piece of predetermined amount of solder is dropped into the cavity of each heating coil, and the heating coils are actuated with a low electrical current to generate a concentrated intense heat to melt the piece of solder to form secure permanent solder joints between the terminal ends of the antenna to the contact terminals of the IC module.

  • Patent number: 6838859
Abstract: A device for increasing an extreme low voltage from a heat to electrical voltage thermopile is shown. The device has an oscillator including two MOSFET transistors coupled to a transformer having four bifilar windings wound on a core having a high permeability. The two transistors operate alternately to generate an intermediate voltage which is increased in magnitude by a voltage doubling and rectifying circuit to obtain the substantially constant operating output voltage. The output voltage is further maintain constant by a current control cirucit including an adjustable potentiometer adjustable to vary the current.

  • Patent number: 6796223
Abstract: The machine is operable for continuously extracting moisture or dehydrating food. A plurality of food tray are insertable into a main chamber having an air diffuser mounted on one side and an air collector on the opposite side. Air is drawn through the chamber by a blower. Heat is applied to the food by heater element incorporated at the underside of the food trays. Dampers are located at the air inlet and air exhaust ducts, which may be monitored and adjusted by temperature and moisture sensors for maintaining a selected temperature and moisture condition to extract the moisture content of the food to a desirable condition. The processed food may be retrieved from the machine while a new tray of food is being placed into the chamber.

  • Patent number: 6793073
Abstract: A window blind is mounted within a rectangular box having two opposite opened ends. The box has a longitudinal length shorter than the width of the window blind such that two end portions of the blind extend beyond the opened ends of the box respectively. Spacers are provided by tabs integrally formed on top and bottom panels of the box, which are foldable downward inwardly to locate between the slats and the head rail of the blind. The spacers press the slats and the head rail respectively tightly against the side panels of the box, and they also provide the required space for locating the end portions of the slats and the head rail in the cutting means of a trimming machine for trimming the window blind to a desirable width.

  • Patent number: 6608286
Abstract: A continuous welding electrode suitable for short circuit welding is provided. The electrode has a continuous metal core with a welding flux material coated on its entire outer surface and circumscribing gaps are formed at regular interval over its entire length to expose a portion of the metal core. The gaps are adaptable for applying the welding current to the electrode in the welding operation. The melting temperature of the welding flux material is about 0.8 to 0.9 times the melting temperature of the metal core; and the unit weight of the welding flux material coating is about 0.37 to 0.48 times the unit weight of the metal core.

  • Patent number: 6553215
Abstract: This system is for automatically controlling a radio receiver to provide an audible broadcast of the weather alert from weather stations. It may also be incorporated in a multi-band radio for automatically switching between AM/FM broadcast and weather alert broadcast. A scanning means operates continuously to tune the weather band portion of the receiver automatically in a stepping manner to receive signals from the weather stations regardless of whether the receiver is operating in any selected AM or FM broadcasting in the multi-band radio. A combination switching comparator and switching means automatically switch the system over to the weather broadcast when a weather alert signal is detected. The switching means also automatically switches the system back to the original selected broadcast after the termination of the weather alert broadcast.

  • Patent number: 6507971
Abstract: This toothbrush would operate normally only when the user brushes in a correct manner. It has a brush member slidably mounted to a handle. A latching arrangement is provided between the brush and the handle such that when the toothbrush is operated incorrectly in the direction along its longitudinal axis, the toothbrush would either slide freely in and out or completely detach from the handle rendering it inoperable. When brushing with the correct motion in the up and down direction perpendicular to its longitudinal axis, the latching arrangement would maintain the brush member securely mounted to the handle.
