  • Patent number: 5915449
Abstract: A bomb blast drapery is defined by a sheet of substantially resilient fabric having high burst strength and substantial fullness in width and length such as to project peripherally beyond a glass window in a wall opening of an associated building. The fabric sheet has a fullness in a width direction approximately 21/2 times the wall opening width and a length fullness ranging from 20" for a window height of approximately 10" up to approximately 380" for a window height of up to 190". The burst strength of the fabric sheet is approximately 110 lbs. and the weight thereof is substantially 4.2 oz. per linear yard. A bottom hem of the flexible sheet includes a weight and the hem further includes a multiplicity of overfolds housed in a trough.

  • Patent number: 5911551
Abstract: A can end 50 is attached to a flange 16 of a can body 1 by means of a double seam. The radius r.sub.2 of the seaming panel 55 of the can end is related to the radius r.sub.1 of the body flange radius 17 by the formular.sub.2 =r.sub.1 +twhere t is the thickness of the body flange. The benefit arising is that a longer body hook in the seam is achieved so that the overlap of body hook and can end is reliably increased so that reduced axial pressure may be used during formation of the double seam.

  • Patent number: 5895909
Abstract: A hybrid card and a processing device capable of rapidly identifying a read/write unit corresponding to an IC module from a plurality of read/write units and preventing fraud in respect of the IC module. Identification data identifying the type of an IC module 11a is held in for example a magnetic stripe 11b outside the IC module 11a of a hybrid card 11. Authentication data corresponding to the identification data is held in the IC module 11a. An R/W unit adapted to the IC module 11a is selected in accordance with the identification data read from the location outside the IC module 11a. The identification data read from the location outside the IC module 11a and the authentication data contained in the data read from the IC module 11a are compared and, only if the two agree, the reading from or writing into the an IC read/write unit 130 is permitted.

  • Patent number: 5892296
Abstract: A basic circuit (10) includes an oscillator (11) whose frequency can be set via a frequency-determining component (15). At outputs (A1-A5), the basic circuit (10) cyclically generates pulses by which consumers (L1-L5) are driven. A switch (18) is connected in parallel to the frequency-determining component (15), said switch being controlled by the outputs (A1-A5) and changing the oscillator frequency during an output pulse. Thus, the output pulses change the oscillator frequency and thus their own pulse duration themselves.

  • Patent number: 5887770
Abstract: A multiple use pack is designed for convenience, security and optimal use of space and structures which can be sued as a waist pack, a day backpack or a shoulder bag. A back face of the waist pack slides by means of a long belt loop on a removable, adjustable belt with quick release buckles allowing the waist pack to serve as a fanny pack/belly pack. The waist pack converts into a day backpack by opening a zippered main compartment posterior to the waist pack's main storage compartment. The zipper is stopped by a strip of fabric located in the middle bottom of the waist pack's main storage compartment connected to the middle bottom of the back face of the waist pack. The connecting fabric strip becomes a combined zipper stop and weight-bearing hinge which keeps the zipper slider from being pulled apart by the weight of items stored in the pack when used in the day backpack mode.

The tail tab portion and the buckle tab portion are each constructed from a single piece of injection molded synthetic polymeric/copolymeric plastic material. The tail tab portion is injection molded with a slot between two connecting tabs into which is slid a terminal end of the mid-portion of the belt which is stitched and/or adhesively bonded thereto. The buckle tab portion is defined by central and opposite end portions with intermediate portions of lesser thickness therebetween about which the buckle tab portion can be folded to unite thereto a buckle and a looped portion of the elastic belt mid-portion.

  • Patent number: 5871089
Abstract: The package (10) provides a first panel (11) and a second panel (12) foldably connected thereto. The first panel (11) serves as a winding panel and is connected at opposite sides to various separation panels (18,19, 20,21). Thread coils (42) can be wound on the first panel (11), the needles (43) thereof are inserted into a foam material needle support (24). After that, a separation panel (19) is folded over to cover a part of the finished thread coil (42). Above that, a further thread coil is produced. The individual separation panels (18-21) each only cover a part of the thread coil below, yet keep the threads from becoming entangled with one another.

  • Patent number: 5871427
Abstract: The machine tool comprises a machine stand (10) with a vertically movable vertical carrier (12) carrying a spindle head (SK1) for treatment of a workpiece. To exchange the spindle head (SK1) against a new spindle head (SK2), an exchange unit (15) is provided, comprising an exchange arm (16) pivotable by 90.degree. about a vertical axis (37). Two holding couplings (17,18) are mounted above each other on the exchange arm (16), each adapted to carry a spindle head (SK1,SK2). A delivery means (21), gripping the spindle heads from above, is used to supply the spindle heads for transfer to the exchange unit (15). The exchange unit (15) grips the spindle heads from the side. By pivoting the exchange arm (16) over 90.degree., the spindle head is pivoted to a position in front of the machine stand (10) and thus can be taken over by the vertical carrier (12).

  • Patent number: 5860714
Abstract: A vandal-proof vending machine includes a rigid frame housed within an opening of a building with a cabinet of the dispensing machine being housed entirely within the building and thereby being rendered inaccessible from the exterior. A front opening of the frame to which products housed in an interior of the cabinet can be viewed is protected by a laminate of tough transparent material and tough metal mesh. The cabinet has rollers at a bottom thereof and one corner is secured by pivots to a side of the frame. The cabinet can thereby be rolled between a closed dispensing position and an opened servicing position.

  • Patent number: 5860595
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for heating the passenger compartments of motor vehicles by means of the heat given off by the engine (1) via the coolant which is taken back to the engine (1) through coolant lines via a heat exchanger to heat the passenger compartment, and a device for implementing the process. The heating capacity provided for the passenger compartment can be markedly increased by the use of a counterflow heat exchanger (3) and reducing the coolant flow through the engine (1) and/or the heat exchanger (3) by a proportion determined by the permissible limit values of engine cooling. A counterflow characteristic can be obtained, in particular, by the series connection of conventional cross-flow heat exchangers. Further improvements are possible by specially designing the heat exchanger fins and the dimensions and insulation of the coolant lines (2, 4).
