  • Patent number: 5215327
Abstract: The stiffness of the suspension is very much a function of the load in hydro-pneumatic vehicle suspensions. With high loads the vehicle suspension is stiff and with a light load it is relatively soft. In addition, the vehicle suspension of the wheel on the outside of the turn is stiffer than that of the wheel at the inside of the turn. The changes in the stiffness of the vehicle suspension are very disagreeable and can result in dangerous driving conditions. Equalization of the stiffness of the vehicle suspension is provided with the aid of a supplemental force. The supplemental force acts in the same direction as the load force of the vehicle chassis. The vehicle suspension is preferably suited for motor vehicles.

  • Patent number: 5209211
Abstract: Heating devices are used to prevent icing and deposition of fuel on the throttle valve under adverse operating conditions; these device comprise electrical resistance hot wires applied to the surface of the throttle valve, yet these wires lead to undesired turbulence in the fuel-air mixture flow. As the length of time in operation increases, the efficiency of the hot wires is lessened by corrosion of their surface. These disadvantages are avoided by integrating the heating device with the component to be heated. To this end, the heating device is disposed in an axial bore of the throttle valve shaft. This arrangement is used especially with mixture-compressing internal combustion engines equipped with carburetors or central injection systems.

  • Patent number: 5209199
Abstract: The control apparatus has a fuel injection pump, into which suction chamber fuel is fed by a feed pump that aspirates from a tank. A reversing valve is included in the connecting lines between the tank and the fuel injection pump, and by means of this valve, to turn off the engine, the line connections can be changed such that the suction chamber communicates with the feed side of the feed pump and the compression side of the feed pump communicates with the tank. The reversing valve is embodied as a two-position multiposition valve and has an electromagnet, disposed, partly spray-coated, in the valve housing, which is of plastic, of the multiposition valve. A valve member can be displaced counter to the force of a restoring spring by the electromagnet; the valve member acts upon one ball at a time, serving as a closing body, of double seat valves disposed on both sides of the valve member.

  • Patent number: 5209116
Abstract: The present invention relates to an unbalance point positioning method and an apparatus therefor, which carry out a positioning operation with high precision and within a short time by using, as a trigger, an unbalance phase signal due to revolution of an unbalance point of a measured object, and effecting deceleration control through feedback control with a voltage corresponding to a rotational frequency of the measured object. The apparatus includes means for rotating the object at a high speed and for determining the amount as well as the angular position of the unbalance of the object. Once the angular position is determined, this information is used to trigger a predetermined deceleration signal, which smoothly and continuously decelerates the measured object until the object is stopped with the unbalance point at a preselected position. A gradual deceleration curve, generated using a resistor and capacitor circuit, is used to minimize slippage between the rotating object and the drive mechanism.

  • Patent number: 5208758
Abstract: A method and apparatus for correcting the unbalance of a rotatable object wherein the apparatus learns from past errors and automatically adjusts to improve future unbalance corrections of the object. The object is rotated a first time and the amount and angular location of unbalance is detected and recorded. The object is than corrected for this measured unbalance and the corrected object is rotated again. The amount and angle of any remaining unbalance is detected. Then the first detected unbalance is combined with the unbalance detected in the corrected object to obtain a correction quantity which can be used when later correcting said object. The invention can be used on objects which have two separate planes of unbalance to correct the unbalance in both planes. The invention can also correct for any errors caused by any inaccuracies in the plane separation process.
