Abstract: An electrically controlled fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines, in particular for direct fuel injection in engines having externally supplied ignition contains a plurality of pump pistons driven by a single common cam. The pumping quantity of fuel is delivered by pumping pistons is controlled via a rotary slide valve to the injection nozzles at the injection sites of the engine, wherein the quantity control is effected by an electrically controlled valve. An axial conduit of the rotary slide which discharges into control bores or control grooves distributed over the circumference of the rotary slide and cooperates with the pump work chamber and the pressure lines to the injection sites and is adjoined by at least one further control bore or control groove which communicates with a pressure reservoir. By this means, a preinjection, separate from a main injection, is made possible at the top dead center charge change.

Abstract: Known magnet armatures for electromagnetically activated valves are machined out of solid material and are relatively high in weight, so their switching times are not short enough. The magnet armature of this invention is intended to be simple to produce and intrinsically low in weight. To enable providing the magnet armature with a wall of slight thickness, the circumference of the magnet armature, at least in a region in which it surrounds the valve body, is profiled in a undulating pattern, such that so-called wave troughs contacting the valve body connecting tube and crests protruding radially beyond them are formed. The troughs are joined to the valve body, and between the wave crests. The magnet armature may be produced by sintering, by severing it from a profiled tube, or by deformation of a tube. The magnet armature is used in a fuel injection valve for fuel injection systems in internal combustion engines.
Abstract: The fuel injection valve according to the invention enables an improvement in the fuel preparation and hence a more uniform fuel-air mixture while simultaneously supplying different inlet valves of an engine from one fuel injection valve. Downstream of the valve seat face of the fuel injection valve, the fuel enters a central opening from which tangential conduits lead to at least two swirl chambers disposedly spaced apart from one another and which discharge into these chambers at a tangent. From the center of each swirl chamber, which may be embodied in an attachment, a respective metering opening leads to the outside, by way of which fuel can be injected, well prepared, in the form of cone-shaped fuel streams. The fuel injection valve is suitable either for supplying individual inlet valves with a plurality of fuel streams, or for supplying different inlet valves of the engine with fuel at the same time.

Abstract: When an air flow rate meter is used in the intake tube of internal combustion engines, such a meter typically having a flat substrate with at least one resistor film disposed on it, the problem arises of dirt deposits on the substrate end face facing into the flow, which cause undesirable changes in the characteristic curve compared with the calibrated new state of the air flow rate meter. The novel embodiment of the air flow rate member is intended to enable calibration based on conditions expected in practice. To produce the effect, while the air flow rate meter is new, of long-term soiling of an air flow rate meter substrate over a period of operation, a leading body, for instance shaped as a U, is disposed on the end face of the substrate facing into the flow. The leading body simulates a soiled effect while the air flow rate meter is still new, and this effect is taken into account in the calibration.

Abstract: In known electromagnetically actuatable valves having a connection fitting acting as a core and on which a magnet coil is disposed, the magnet coil is surrounded by a solid valve housing of ferromagnetic metal. The manufacture of this valve housing is very labor-intensive and results in undesirably large external dimensions. The novel embodiment of the valve enables not only simple manufacture but also a reduction in the external dimensions of the valve. In the novel valve, a plastic sheath surrounding both the connection fitting and the magnet coil is provided, which at least in the region surrounding the magnet coil contains ferromagnetic fillers conducting magnetic field lines. The fillers surround the magnet coil in the circumferential direction. This embodiment of the valve is suitable for electromagnetically actuatable systems of all kinds.
Abstract: A position indicator device for conveyed objects having a checking area disposed in a conveying passage where a plurality of objects are unidirectionally conveyed while being aligned in a conveying direction and a direction normal thereto; an indicator manually movable to a position of a target object within the checking area for indicating a position of the same; and an indicator-position detector for detecting a two-dimensional position of the indicator within the checking area. The checking area includes a plurality of beam emitters operable together to project beams of light in a grating form within the area and a plurality of beam receivers each operable to receive a light beam from a corresponding emitter. The indicator acts as a beam-blocking member for blocking the beam transmission between the emitter and receiver. The indicator-position detector detects a position within the checking area of the indicator based on a position information of the receiver blocked by the indicator.
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for varying the position of a fuel control device that controls the output of an internal combustion engine and is connected to an operating element via a transmission device. In such an apparatus, a control motor can be operatively connected via a gear with a first rotary element connected to the control device and rotatably supported relative to a coaxial second rotary element connected to the operating element. The two rotary elements are prestressed by a spring that forces an arm each to contact one another at stops facing one another.
Abstract: An ignition distributor which is driven by an engine includes a structural division between the engine block and ignition distributor and has a separable connection, which is embodied as a claw coupling. For corresponding operational parts dimensionally stable, self-lubricating and wear-resistant plastic is used at the force transfer points of the claw coupling. Thus, it is possible to operate the claw coupling in a dry-running manner which does not require an encapsulated lubrication.
Abstract: A hand held sensor body with a manually extendible two-pronged probe contains an ion meter for both chlorine concentration and for pool water acidity. The sensor is D. C. powered and the probe has dual metallic rods extending from the hand-held probe and terminating in alloy sensor tips. The body of the sensor containing the meter also detachably encases the hand-held probe when the probe is not in use. The meter case tapers downwardly in width to a battery chamber with access for the probe cable. The battery chamber has contacts for connection to the meter and an electrical contact for the control knob for an adjustable potentiometer imposed in the electrical circuit between the meter and the probe.
Abstract: A rail bogie is provided with a truck having a platform and railroad wheels beneath it for riding on railroad tracks; a first fifth wheel being mounted on the platform. A draw-bar, also mounted on the platform, includes a vertical leg and a horizontal foot on which are provided a lift plate, a further fifth wheel on the lift plate and a lift mechanism capable of moving the lift plate vertically relative to a connection block located at the upper end of the leg. The bogie is for use in combination with a road vehicle provided, at its rear end, with a hooking block in contact with the vertical leg of the draw-bar; the hooking block being formed with a socket into which is received the connection block of the rail bogie for vertical displacement when the lift plate is moved by the aforesaid lift mechanism. Projecting from the lower end of the hooking block is a coupling king pin lockingly engaged in the fifth wheel of the lift plate.
Abstract: There is disclosed an electronic dual-fuel injection system for an internal combustion engine having a cylinder block with driving cylinders. The system has an intake manifold which is connected to the driving cylinders to feed fuel mixtures to the cylinders and an air supply assembly including a shuttle-valve body connected to the manifold for feeding air into it. A high grade fuel supply assembly, which includes an injector mounted on the output section of the air supply assembly, serves for feeding high grade fuel to the manifold. A similar but low grade fuel assembly, which includes a plurality of injectors each of which is mounted on the manifold, serves for feeding low grade fuel to one of the driving cylinders. The injection system also includes a computer, connected to the two fuel supply assemblies, and temperature sensors connected to the computer and to the cylinder block to measure its temperature.
Abstract: An apparatus for damping movement courses of two bodies, in particular in a vehicle wheel/vehicle suspension system, having a piston sliding in a cylinder and dividing it into two work chambers, the two work chambers arranged to communicate with one another via respective oppositely acting check valves and via a variably asymmetrical damper valve adjustable in such a manner that upon a valve member movement the opening cross section for one flow direction decreases to the extent that it increases for the other flow direction, such that whenever in comparison with an active damper system energy would have to be supplied from outside, the damper force is substantially reduced to the value of zero.
Abstract: A brake booster which includes a control slide that is displaceably supported in a servo piston and acted upon by a piston rod under the influence of brake pressure. The control slide has bores that establish communication between a pressure chamber and a pressure source or return for power brake fluid in the pressure chamber. The control slide is intended to penetrate a control bush in a stepped bore in the servo piston, which has a radial bore for connecting the pressure source with a radial bore in the control slide toward the pressure chamber. The control bush is supported radially movably in the stepped bore.
Abstract: A positional fixation element is located on a first structural component and positionally fixes a second structural component, which is to be joined to the first component at a predetermined orientation relative thereto. The positional fixation element is substantially in the form of a stud, which protrudes beyond a reference plane of the first component. The positional fixation element is produced by means of a mandrel-like tool, which is pressed into the first component on an incline relative to the reference plane. In the process, material is displaced, so that on the one hand a groove-like indentation is formed, and on the other hand, an accumulation of material having a shape corresponding to that of the positional fixation element is created above the reference plane. The positional fixation element is suitable for positionally fixing electrical circuits, for example, or other components when glued or soldered onto the first component.
Abstract: A brake booster in a housing, having a servo piston slidably supported in the housing and having a piston rod protruding into the housing for transmitting a brake force. In the servo piston, a work chamber is provided for receiving brake fluid drawn after the opening of a valve from a reservoir or supply container and pumped via a pump or the like. The work chamber also communicates via a further valve or the like with a return line to the supply container. To improve valve closing and to shorten the idle travel, the valve preceding the work chamber and arranged for the admission of the brake fluid is embodied by a valve bushing in a blind bore of the servo piston and by a spring-loaded closing element, such as a ball. The valve bushing is disposed between the piston rod and the ball and is traversed by a pin or the like, capable of being acted upon by the piston rod, for lifting the ball from its valve seat.

Abstract: A universal spaceport for launching a space vehicle of any type. The spaceport includes a gantry crane, an erector, a launch pad launch mount adapter and an umbilical tower which is used for any type launch vehicle. The gantry is provided with drive trucks that drive the gantry as the erector is lifted about a pivot so that the crane lift is always vertical. The erector is adapted to support any launch vehicle so that the center line is common for each different type vehicle. The erector and umbilical tower are provided with vertically movable platforms which may be moved to any position along the launch vehicle. Further, a vertically movable support arm is provided for the umbilical. Unique launch mount adapters are provided to provide vehicle securing to common pad hold downs.
