Abstract: A method and apparatus for printing a plurality of documents juxtaposed for imposition on a print media sheet without gutters. The document images are rasterized and a band of single or multiple pixels is selected along the image margins and compared to determine if adjacent bands are within a predetermined tolerance value. If so, the images are juxtaposed without a gutter; and, if not, one image is rotated 180° and the comparison repeated. If the comparison still is not within a predetermined tolerance value, the juxtaposed images are imposed with a gutter.
Abstract: Systems and methods are described that facilitate removing punch hole artifacts in electronic document images. When a document with punch holes is scanned, the punch holes appear as unwanted dark spots in the margin. To remove these artifacts, a blanking regions having background color pixels are placed over the punch hole artifacts and the electronic document image is stored with the blanking regions in place. A user interface is provided to permit a user to enter blanking region parameters, including x,y coordinates, diameter, reference edge from which the coordinates are measured, etc. Default settings can be stored and recalled for common punch hole patterns, which may vary between offices and the like.

Abstract: A system and method of generating a dynamic visualization of a multi-dimensional dataset of data-points are disclosed. The method is an adaptation of the Grand Tour approach, but instead of using all possible projections comprising at least one data point, some of which may not be useful, the method includes generating a set of candidate projections from the space of all possible projections. The set of candidate projections is approximated with a one dimensional smoothed curve and the dynamic visualization is generated, based on a sequence of projections taken along the smoothed curve.
Abstract: A geocell is disclosed that has high strength and stiffness, such that the geocell has a storage modulus of 500 MPa or greater at 23° C.; a storage modulus of 150 MPa or greater at 63° C. when measured in the machine direction using Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA) at a frequency of 1 Hz; a tensile stress at 12% strain of 14.5 MPa or greater at 23° C.; a coefficient of thermal expansion of 120×10?6/° C. or less at 25° C.; and/or a long term design stress of 2.6 MPa or greater. The geocell is suitable for load support applications, especially for reinforcing base courses and/or subbases of roads, pavement, storage areas, and railways.
Abstract: Under the presence of at least one out of copper, manganese, nickel, cobalt, iron, zinc, and compounds thereof, a tetravalent titanium salt solution and a basic solution are reacted together to form a hydroxide of titanium and the above metal, and then the titanium hydroxide is peroxidated with an oxidizing agent to manufacture an aqueous liquid or dispersion having therein titanium oxide fine particles having peroxy groups; by using this alone to form a coating film adjacent to a coating film of an organic dye or pigment, or using this to form a coating film together with an organic dye or pigment, a drop in decorativeness of color due to fading or discoloration of a coating material, a printed article, a building material, a fiber, an organic polymer resin product or the like can be prevented, and moreover surface anti-soiling and hydrophilic properties can be realized.
Abstract: A grapple apparatus for handling cotton modules includes a frame comprising first and second portions. The second portion is selectively movable relative to the first portion between an opened position and a closed position. The frame defines a module-holding space when the second portion of the frame is in its closed position. At least one powered roller device is connected to the frame and is selectively active to rotate an associated cotton module located in the module-holding space relative to said frame about a module axis of rotation. A method for handling cotton modules includes positioning a frame adjacent a cotton module and moving a second portion of the frame relative to a first portion of the frame from an opened position to a closed position to define a module-holding space in which the cotton module is received and retained.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for providing an equal error protection to data packets in a burst transmission system. The data packets are grouped based upon respective priority levels and error protection is provided to each group of data packets based upon the respective priority level. The error protection codes for each group of data packets depending on the respective priority level is created using data of data packets of the group which are contained in the data section (20) of two or more bursts (10) forming a first set of bursts (50, 50.B, 50.E, 55) and the created error protection codes are transmitted in the error protection section (30) of one or more bursts (10) forming a second set of bursts (60, 60.B, 60.E, 65). The invention further relates to a burst transmission system for performing said method.
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for rendering vacuum conveyors inert, the vacuum conveyors including at least one intake device (30), a discharge device (40), a separating vessel (100), a vacuum pump device (20), and a system for feeding inert fluid into the separating vessel (100). An inert fluid is fed into the at least one separating vessel (100) below the free surface of a separated material (102) during inertization. A corresponding vacuum conveyor (10) which can be rendered inert includes a system for feeding inert fluid below the free surface (103) of a separated material on and/or in the at least one separating vessel (100).

Abstract: A generally planar, flexible light source assembly or OLED device includes a generally planar, flexible light emitting member having opposite first and second surfaces. An impermeable backsheet is disposed along the first surface of the light emitting surface and includes a conductive portion and an opening through the backsheet. A conductive tab or cover is received over the opening, and an insulator is disposed between the tab cover and the opening to mitigate the risk of electrical contact between the components. The insulator can be precut washer-like members or an applied insulating material situated between the conductive components of the light source assembly that pose a potential for shorting. Using tabs with burr-free edges also mitigates against the risk of electrical shorting.

Abstract: A technique that relates to use of a known messaging sequence, e.g., ISANSWER messaging in the IS-41 protocol, in a heretofore unknown manner to improve hand-off procedures that may be established between a serving (anchor or intermediate) mobile switching center and a target (or border) mobile switching center is provided. Specifically, the ISANSWER message is selectively sent from the serving mobile switching center to the target mobile switching center during the hand-off process. The transmission of the ISANSWER message in this manner allows the target mobile switching center to terminate ring back to a caller when the mobile station answers the call after the handoff has been started, but while the mobile station is still within a cell area of the serving mobile switching center.
