Abstract: Systems and methods are described that facilitate using end-user feedback to automatically distinguish between a normal behavior and a device failure which can be a hard failure (e.g., a device malfunction) or a soft failure. For instance, upon detection of a usage switch from a first device to a second device by a user, a survey message is sent to the user to solicit information regarding the reasons for the switch. If the switch was triggered by a device malfunction, the detected device failure is verified and an alert is sent to an administrator and/or potentially impacted users. If the switch was triggered by the user's need for functionality (e.g., color printing, collation, etc.) not provided by the first device, which is otherwise functioning properly, then the detected failure is determined to be a failure and the failure detection algorithm is updated accordingly.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described that facilitate importing scanned image data into a production workflow, in accordance with various features described herein. A plurality of loosely-coupled, dynamically loaded plugins can be defined in a configuration file for a given production scanning job. The plugins can be invoked in response to a trigger with which each plugin is associated, and triggers can be associated with different phases of the production workflow, such as image data acquisition (importation), data filtering (pre-scanning), image analysis (scanning), and metadata processing (post-scanning). In this manner, the overarching scanning architecture need not have direct knowledge of which plugins are triggered, or even present, and custom plugins as well as standard plugins can be provided for each production scanning job.

Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, apparatus and systems for performing image processing regression for approximating multidimensional color transformation. According to an exemplary method, a shaping matrix is selected to minimize a cost function associated with a local linear regression representation of the color transformation.
Abstract: A call processing method and system in which the use of the MGW between the RNC and the peer party is limited to only certain situations. This invention uses RFC 3267 (AMR/IETF) on the RNC. This will avoid inserting a MGW context for framing conversion only. This invention provides an optimization that sets up calls from the RNC, thus avoiding the need for a MGW in the path for basic calls. With this optimization, the usage of DSP and packet resources and the number of MGW chassis, as well as bearer path delay, are all reduced.

Abstract: In the case of printing at high addressability, where the cell size is smaller than the spot size, an image can be decimated in a manner that will limit the large accumulation of printed material. The proper decimation of the image will depend on the spot size, the physics of drop coalescence and the addressability during printing. A simple method of using concentric decimation is disclosed herein to enable this process.
Abstract: The image data processing system and method disclosed, processes intermediate compressed binary data representing images scanned for copy or exporting, thereby enabling storage of the copy or export file to a common memory storage device. According to an exemplary embodiment, the image data processing system comprises a binary lossless decompress module, a binary to contone restoration module, and an export processing module, the export processing module processing multiple bit image data for exporting to an image data receiving device.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a one-step fastening device, a process for creating a fastener utilizing such a device, and the end fastener produced thereby. In this regard, the invention uses an outer, hollow fastener material that can be partially compressed under tension at designated areas (i.e., a compression member) and an inner activation or tensioning member. The compression of the outer fastener material occurs at one or more flexible areas or compression features specifically located on the longitudinal axis of the material. As a result, the outer compression member is capable of being distorted or bent under tension to produce a predetermined configuration. The device described herein has the ability to form specific and controllable fasteners of designated shapes and configurations. Methods for fastening, snaring, gripping, cutting, and manipulating material using the device in a confined space are also provided.

Abstract: A precharge circuit (20, 20?, 20?) charges at least one capacitor (22, 22?, 22?) associated with an electrical device with high capacitance, such as a motor (14) which drives a compressor (16) of the pneumatic system. One end of the at least one capacitor is connected with a high voltage bus (10). The other end of the at least one capacitor is connected by at least one charge limiting resistor (24, 24?, 24?) with a low reference node. When the at least one capacitor is charged at least to a preselected level, a control circuit (28, 28?, 28?) controls a switch (26, 26?, 26?) to bypass the current limiting resistor. In this manner, the current limiting resistors limit the surge current to charge the capacitors. Once the capacitors are charged, the resistors and their associated heat dissipation are removed from the circuit and only ripple current from across the capacitors flows through the switch reducing a required current carrying capacity and needed heat sinking for the switch.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a wireless self-backhaul technique in a wireless communication network, especially in a WiMAX network, which implements wireless backhaul between base stations by using radio resources (frequency, sub-band or timeslot) of base stations' own. More specifically, uplink and downlink backhaul channels are formed between a master base station and a slaver base station using base stations' inherent resources and through offsetting the frame start time of the slaver base station for a period of time in relation to the master base station. The slaver base station operates in base station mode during local user access and operates in subscriber station mode during implementing wireless backhaul traffic with the master base station. Therefore, the slaver base station needs to switch between these two operating modes.
