Abstract: A class of add-on system components providing functionality of devices, management of self-help, customization and enhancement of services for devices, and remote monitoring at significantly reduced cost. It reduces the cost of UI and greatly enhances ease-of-use by realizing that the networked system can be headless and use a browser-based UI for its platform. It embeds a Device Model Agent (DMA) and connects to the Device-Centric Services platform to offer services. Additionally, it offers customized diagnostic access for customer representatives to enable self-help service actions to be performed, unifies and manages multiple access needs to several disparate data access mechanisms, and uses largely COTS PC hardware rather than customized PWBs.

Abstract: A method of measuring a capacitance, wherein a voltage across the capacitance is supplied to an input of an evaluation circuit that is designed so that it can detect input voltages with a predetermined degree of precision so long as these voltages are in a measurement interval, includes charging the capacitance to a predetermined starting voltage which exceeds a multiple of an upper limit of the measurement interval. The capacitance across a predetermined resistance is discharged for a predetermined time period. The voltage across the capacitance reaches a final voltage value which is dependent upon the amount of the capacitance. The resistance and the time interval are so chosen that the final voltage value lies in the measurement interval. The final voltage value is detected by the evaluation circuit and the capacitance is determined from the final voltage value. A circuit arrangement for measurement of a capacitance of a capacitor is also disclosed.
Abstract: A panel sawing machine comprises a horizontal table (5) on which a movable device (6) pushes a stack of panels (3a) in a forward direction (F) or reverse direction (F1) to feed a sawing device (or to a device for rotating the stack) which divides the panel up into two or more smaller boards. The pusher (6) is equipped with two or more pickup elements (16) that hold the rear edge of the stack in position during positioning and/or sawing operations. The pickup elements (16) are mounted on the movable device (6) in such a way that they can run in guides (15, 15a, 15b) in the following three directions, respectively: horizontal at right angles to, and horizontal parallel to, the forward direction (F) or the reverse direction (F1), and vertical.
Abstract: The invention relates to a primary part of a linear motor having a receptacle for a secondary part which can move along an axis in the receptacle, having a plurality of annular coils which are arranged coaxially with respect to the receptacle, and having a yoke, with teeth which are composed of a soft-magnetic material being arranged or formed between the end faces of adjacent coils. In order to provide a primary part or a linear motor which has a high power density in a compact form and allows good cooling with coolant, cooling gaps in which spacers are arranged are formed between the end faces of the coils and the teeth.
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for automatic resource restriction distribution for coordination of the interference between cells (C1, C2, . . . ) or sectors (S1, S2, . . . ) of a single frequency network with the frequency band being subdivided into at least two subsets (F1, F2 . . . FR), whereby mobile terminals (T1) in the single frequency network perform power measurements of pilot symbols, based on said power measurements, the signal to interference ratio and the data throughput in the cells (C1, C2, . . . ) in case of no interference coordination and in case of interference coordination is calculated, and at least one dedicated subset of said at least two subsets (F1, F2 . . . FR) is chosen for usage with restricted power in such a way that the overall data throughput in the cells (C1, C2, . . . ) is maximized, a base station, a mobile terminal, a resource distribution device and a mobile network therefor.
Abstract: Metal face inductive proximity sensors and methods are presented for sensing the presence or absence of a target object in a target sensing area in which a coil system is operated to generate a magnetic field extending outward from the sensing face at a frequency in a range that maximizes a relative target effect for the sensing face area, material, and thickness, and a target material from which the target object is made to allow the protective advantages of metal sensing face materials while enhancing sensing distance by optimizing the ratio of the target energy loss to the energy loss in the metal face.

A headset facilities audio communication between the user and a remote troubleshooter. A compass is located proximate to the office device wherein the headset is placed in a predetermined location proximate to the compass to establish a datum point such that movement from the datum point is recognized as a location proximate to the office device. A remote processing component displays the location of the headset relative to the office device based on information provided by the compass.
Abstract: A color correction method includes for each of a plurality of color separations of a digital image, establishing a tone reproduction curve in the form of a vector. The vector is a function of a plurality of basis vectors. The basis vectors account for colorant interactions between a primary colorant with which the color separation is to be rendered and at least one secondary colorant with which at least a second of the plurality of color separations is to be rendered. The vector includes modified input values corresponding to input values for the color separation which vary, depending on the input values of at least the second color separation. For a pixel of interest in the digital image, a modified input value for the color separation which corresponds to the input value of the given color separation is identified from the vector.

Abstract: A time-to-collect measure is disclosed which may be used in generating a model for predicting an expected time-to-collect for print jobs. In the case of incomplete data, an algorithm recovers an optimal assignment of links between submission and collection events which allows a time to collect to be computed for one or more prior print jobs. A printing system may incorporate a time-to-collect system for making decisions based on the measure, such as the scheduling of pending print jobs or planning placement of printers.
