Abstract: Only the brake pressures at the front wheels are controlled individually. For this purpose, the speeds of rotation of the front wheels are detected. The brake pressure at the rear wheels is controlled jointly for both rear wheels and no detection of the speed of rotation is provided at the rear wheels. However, the brake line leading to the rear-wheel brakes has inserted into it a 2/2-way valve which can be moved into its shut-off position as a function of the brake-force distribution determined as a function of the loading and then holds the rear-axle brake pressure constant.

Abstract: During one or more braking processes, the application pressures of the wheel brakes and the characteristic brake values of the wheel brakes of at least one axle are determined. The application pressure represents the beginning of brake action at the wheels and can be determined from an inflection point in the curve representing brake pressure at the wheels as it increases in response to a driver's command, and further from the wheel velocity or a derivative thereof. The characteristic brake values are determined based on the brake pressure, the application pressure, and the deceleration of the vehicle. The application pressures and the characteristic brake values are stored for use in subsequent brake actions, in order to control the brakes so that wheels at each axle are uniformly braked.

Abstract: A layer of quartz glass soot is deposited continuously on a substrate consisting of quartz glass grains with a lower degree of sintering activity than the quartz glass soot and the soot is sintered by passing it continuously through a heating zone to form a quartz glass strip which is severed to form plates. Apparatus for implementing the process includes a conveyor suitable for the transport of quartz glass grains; a loading device for the deposition of the quartz glass grains onto the conveyor; nozzles for depositing a layer of synthetic quartz glass soot on the quartz glass grains; and a heating unit to heat the layer.
Abstract: A photographic material developing apparatus having processing tanks (8), and rack units (10) removably mounted in the processing tanks, respectively. Each of the rack units supports a pair of guide members (11) for guiding a photographic material (1) passing through the processing tanks. The guide members are movable relative to each other to vary a distance therebetween defining a passage width of the photographic material. The relative position between the guide members is variable to adjust the passage width of the photographic material. This relative position is variable by a first drive line disposed outside each rack unit, and a second drive line provided for each rack unit. The first drive line and the second drive line are selectively connected and disconnected, which is carried out through a connected member (85) disposed on the first drive line, and a connecting member (81) disposed on the second drive line.

Abstract: A hollow cylinder is held in a vertical orientation and sent continuously through a heating zone for sintering. In a first phase of the sintering operation, the hollow cylinder stands on a support while the upper end (12) of the cylinder is being sintered. In a second phase the cylinder hangs from a hanging element while its lower end (10) is sintered. A vertical rod is fixed to the base on which the lower end is supported, and extends through the hollow cylinder. A retaining ring is fixed inside the upper end of the hollow cylinder. During the first phase, the upper end vitrifies and contracts so that the retaining ring engages the vertical rod. Longitudinal contraction causes the lower end to lift off the base so that the cylinder is suspended during the second phase.
