  • Patent number: 5132930
Abstract: In a metal-oxide semiconductor (MOS) dynamic formed on a semiconductor substrate, data nodes of a first flip-flop are connected to a first pair of folded bit lines. Its power supply node is connected through a switch to a first power supply (Vss). Data nodes of a second flip-flop are connected to a second pair of folded bit lines. Its power supply node is connected through a switch to the first power supply (Vss). A power supply node of a third flip-flop is connected through a switch to a second power supply (Vcc). Data nodes of the third flip-flop are coupled through a first pair of transfer gates to the first pair of the folded bit lines, and through a second pair of transfer gates to the second pair of the folded bit lines. Coupling the first to the third flip-flops forms a first sense amplifier and coupling the second to the third flip-flops forms a second sense amplifier.

  • Patent number: 5131651
Abstract: A ball bat comprises an impact portion, a grip portion, and a flexible bending portion situated between the impact portion and the grip portion. The bat is characterized in that it comprises a fiber-reinforced plastic casing of a predetermined thickness. The slits of a predetermined number are constructed in the casing located at the junction area of flexible bending portion and grip portion. The number of fibers incised to form slits is in a predetermined proportion to the total number of fibers contained in the casing located at the junction area, with the ratio being in the range of 5% to 95%. The slits serve to obstruct the transmission of shock from the impact portion to the grip portion of the ball bat. Rigidity and elasticity of the impact portion are different from those of grip and flexible bending portions by virture of an existence of slits disposed in the latter.

  • Patent number: 5131424
Abstract: A precision pressure regulator not only providing makeup pressure in response to a low pressure condition, but also for providing the ability to vent off excess pressure. A system in a self-contained unit is used, thereby eliminating a need for an external power supply such as battery, electrical, or mechanical power. The precision pressure regulator also provides extremely accurate control of pressure even in the low pressure ranges of less than 1 inch of water column, and does so without the need for constant supervision by a skilled technician. A safe inert atmosphere is provided for chemical processes utilizing volatile and/or contaminant sensitive substances.

  • Patent number: 5131294
Abstract: An automatic transmission system includes a regulator for regulating line pressure delivered to friction coupling elements of a transmission mechanism. The friction coupling elements are selectively coupled and released, in combination, so as to shift gear ratios. A control device controls the regulator so as to provide a proper line pressure. The control device operates to learn a correction value for the line pressure which depends upon a shift-time it takes for the transmission to complete an up-shift and corrects the line pressure according to the correction value learned from an actual shift-time. Thus, an up-shifting of the transmission is completed in a desired shift-time. The correction of the line pressure in the learning control is practically performed when the number of engine cylinders for which fuel delivery is cut off is smaller than a predetermined number.

  • Patent number: 5132027
Abstract: In a wet lime desulfurization of exhaust gases containing SO.sub.2 and fly ash, a method and apparatus for treating absorbent solution slurry-containing fly ash includes diverting at least a part of the absorbent solution slurry containing fly ash particles, separating the diverted absorbent solution slurry by centrifugal separation into the solid gypsum component and a liquid component of a suspension containing fine fly ash particles, adjusting the pH value of the suspension containing fine fly ash particles remaining in a filtrate to 6 to 9 by adding an alkali, supplying the pH adjusted suspension to a thickener, removing concentrated sludge from the thickener, passing overflow H.sub.2 O from the thickener to a limestone slurry tank, and passing slurry from the limestone slurry tank to the absorbent solution slurry as make-up feed. Ill effects caused by fly ash and HF in exhaust gases are avoided, the activity of CaCo.sub.3 in the absorbent slurry is maintained, and highly pure gypsum is recovered.

  • Patent number: 5132678
Abstract: A method of operating a display comprising a lattice of pixel elements, includes the step of time-multiplex addressing collections of pixel elements. This addressing step includes using a first shift register means to designate operation of a second shift register means to select a function to be performed. If the second shift register means is in bypass mode, then the first shift register means is effective as a mask to specify which of the stages in the second register means should be bypassed, and allows non-sequential group addressing of the pixel elements. Such an arrangement of first and second shift register means is suitable for use in controlling the addressing of collections or rows of pixel elements; the function to be selected by the second shift register means is the strobing of the collections or rows.

  • Patent number: 5132142
Abstract: An apparatus for layering powder onto particles has a vessel in which a rotor is mounted rotatable therein around a vertical axis. The rotor is a disc with a supporting surface for supporting particles. The apparatus also has a feeder with a substantially horizontal introducing member protruding slightly into the vessel above the disc. The introducing member limits a liquid outlet and an annular powder outlet encompassing the liquid outlet. During a layering operation, the introducing member protrudes into a bed of particles lying on the rotating disc and moved by the latter. There can then be sprayed liquid and powder simultaneously onto the particles passing in proximity of the outlets. This enables layering powder onto particles to produce thereby pellets having sizes lying in a narrow range.

  • Patent number: 5132561
Abstract: A data switching device for use in controlling a D.C. coupled logic signal path for relatively low level data logic signals between coupled Emitter coupled logic devices having a signal input and a signal output, between which are diodes of reverse polarity connected in series wherein the device is inexpensive and solves the problem of high power dissipation. By coupling control potentials to at least the point between the two diodes and the output of the switch via potential dividers the diodes can be biased into a conductive condition allowing the transmission of logic level signals. Variation of the potentials in the divider network can be used to render the diodes non-conductive to block the signal path.
