  • Patent number: 5123505
Abstract: A continuous automatic adjustment device for a mechanically actuated sliding saddle disk brake (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6) wherein the mechanically actuated device for moving the sliding saddle (1) vis-a-vis the brake disk (6) includes a diagonal-track spreading device (10, 11, 12) around an actuating shaft (7). The adjustment device has an adjustment nut (14) coupled with the actuating shaft (7) by a directional clutch (33) which operates in the direction of actuation when actuating shaft (7) turns and is formed by a wrap spring (33) or a freewheeling sleeve (34, 35). A force-dependent coupler (30) can be axially released from the action of a compression spring (23) when a given torque is exceeded by the actuation shaft, thereby preventing rotation from being transmitted to the adjustment nut.

  • Patent number: 5124962
Abstract: The control track of the optical disk is scanned by an optical pick-up. Data and clock are detected from the signal obtained by above scanning, and the missing state of the clock is further detected. In addition, the shifting direction relative to the control track of the optical pick-up is detected. When data indicates an error and the clock includes a large missing portion, the optical pick-up is shifted in a direction opposite to the shifting direction thereof. In the case where there is no shifting direction signal, the optical pick-up is shifted in a fixed direction. Such an operation is repeated until no shift is detected. In an alternative implementation, the control track of the optical disk is scanned by the optical pick-up. Data and clock are detected from the signal obtained by above scanning, and the missing state of the clock is further detected. When data indicates an error and the clock includes a large missing portion, the optical pick-up is shifted in a fixed direction.

  • Patent number: 5122947
Abstract: A flyback transformer comprising a magnetic core assembled by joining together a pair of first and second U-shaped core halves each having two leg portions with end surfaces respectively joined in mutually abutting confrontation with respective gap spacers interposed therebetween at first and second core joint parts and a coil wound around the core joint parts. The coil includes, as an input winding, a primary winding divided into first and second primary windings which are wound at least around the two core joint parts of the core and are connected in parallel. By this arrangement, the magnetic fluxes generated at the two core joint parts cancel each other, and reduce the leakage flux field. Optionally, the two divided windings of the primary winding are each divided further into two windings wound around the leg portions on opposite sides of the spacers. At the same time, the first primary winding on the leg portion on one side and the second primary winding on the other side are connected in series.

  • Patent number: 5122791
Abstract: A display device is formed by a matrix of surface-stabilized bi-stable ferroelectric liquid crystal elements each being separately settable by a matrix driver. To provide brightness control or color in the display, all the elements of the matrix are set in accordance with a portion of a signal for display and the amount of light passing through the matrix for that setting is controlled in accordance with the binary significance of the respective portion of the signal. This control is produced by varying one of the activation duration or intensity of a light source, such as sets of fluorescent tubes in accordance with the binary significance of the brightness information in the input signal. Half of the frame time (T) is used for the numerous setting operations on the matrix of elements and half is used for the backlighting operations of the various settings.

  • Patent number: 5122979
Abstract: A method and a device (FIG. 2) in which the maximum or the minimum or both of a data set are evaluated by tag propagation through a series of iterations. The number of iterations required is equal to the word size, i.e. the number of bits per word. Iterations may be performed serially using a series of logic stages, as shown, or they may be performed cyclically using a single stage of logic circuitry. For the evaluation of the maximum, a tag is propagated for each word for which a tag has already been propagated from the previous iteration and either the word bit for that iteration is of logic value 1 or if not 1 the word bit for each and every word for that iteration is 0. A tag is propagated throughout all iterations only for the maximum and this tag is then used to select the corresponding data word that is the maximum. The same may be performed for the inverse of each word bit to evaluate the minimum.

  • Patent number: 5119784
Abstract: An intake system, for use with an internal combustion engine having a plurality of intake valves for each cylinder, includes a plurality of intake ports, opening into the combustion chamber side of the internal combustion engine at different distances from a spark plug of the cylinder. The intake valves are controlled to keep an intake port located at the shortest distance from the spark plug opened only slightly in an early intake cycle stage while opening the other intake ports at their desired timings. The intake port located at the shortest distance from the spark plug is subsequently opened at a desired timing, thereby aspirating a substantial quantity of air through the closest intake port at a later time than through the other intake ports.

  • Patent number: 5119728
Abstract: A doctor device for the washing inking unit of a rotary printing press includes a doctor carrier, on which two doctor blades are attached. The doctor blades are parallel to and coextensive with each other and are able to be put into engagement with an inking roller. Together with the inking roller, the doctor carrier and sealing means provided at the end thereof, the doctor blades define a sealed ink chamber. The ink is supplied to and removed from the ink chamber through ducts. The doctor carrier is able to be brought into engagement with the inking roller by sealing moldings. In order to ensure that no ink is able to escape from the ink chamber, even when the doctor device oscillates, the sealing moldings are formed of elastic or elastomeric material, which, on their sides facing the inking roller, have dihedral, downwardly sloping surfaces for supporting the end parts of the doctor blades. Between the dihedral surface, a curved sealing surface if provided.
