Abstract: A system for monitoring and testing network elements of a wireless communication network includes at least one air surveillance device (ASD) connected to a target network element through a wire or wireless channel, and an air surveillance and management server (ASMS) which communicates with the ASD through the wireless communication network. The ASD collects radio environment data in real time, tests qualities of services around the target network element, and transmits the collected radio environment and test result data to the ASMS. The ASMS remotely controls the ASD, analyzes the data received from the ASD, and display an analysis result on a graphic user interface (GUI).

Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing a suitable soft keyboard for end users to conveniently enter data to a portable information terminal that can not provide concurrently multiple character set keyboards, such as Korean, English, and Numeric keyboards. A data input assisting method displays an input window including a plurality of input fields when data input is requested. The input window identifies an input data set among English, Numeric, and non-English character sets suitable to an input field, which is selected for information input on the displayed input window, and provides a soft keyboard of touch screen or the like including the identified character set. Therefore, data input is ensured when a user must select and enter non-English (e.g., Korean), English, or Numeric data to match information type of each data field to be stored in a portable information terminal, such as a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA).

Abstract: Disclosed is a transmission diversity method in a mobile communication system, by which optimal transmission diversity can be provided in case that a base station of the mobile communication system uses at least one transmitting antenna. The present invention includes the step of having a transmitting side transmit signals using a plurality of antennas wherein a transmission signal of a second antenna differs from a transmission signal of a first antenna in a predetermined phase.

In the apparatus and method, a voltage source supplies a sustain voltage to the panel. A first inductor recovers an energy stored in the panel into the voltage source, and a second inductor receives energy from the voltage source in which the recovered energy has been stored to charge the received energy. Switching devices shuts off a path between the voltage source and the second inductor in a state in which energy has been stored in the second inductor to derive an inverse voltage into the second inductor and allows said inverse voltage to be applied to the panel.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for recovering abnormal control cells in an asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) exchange subscriber unit. A signal cell or control cell is transmitted and a plurality of reception first-in first-out memories (FIFOs) are sequentially checked to determine whether a new cell has arrived. If there is no start of cell (SOC) signal in an initial byte of a current cell under the condition that a cell synchronization loss signal is present in the current cell, or if the SOC signal is detected during transfer of the current cell, the current cell is determined to be abnormal. If the cell synchronization loss signal is abnormal, the current cell is discarded and an associated FIFO is fully emptied to recover cell synchronization.

Abstract: A system and method of managing a radio bearer in a mobile communication system is provided which releases an assigned radio bearer while maintaining Packet Data Protocol (PDP) Context information related to a subscriber's Packet Session. This improves efficiency of use of the radio bearer. Also, in a case in which a user desires a temporary service interruption, the PDP context is preserved. Thus, it is possible to prevent accrual of fees associated with undesired service, thereby decreasing overall fees to subscribers.

Abstract: A multicast service of a 3GPP Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) is disclosed. By allowing an RNC to manage multicast group member information by multicast services on multicast areas, when a user terminal being currently provided with an MBMS service moves, the RNC sends information on the movement of the terminal to a core network. Since the RNC notifies the core network of the terminal's movement selectively on the basis of the multicast group member information by multicast services on the multicast area, the network resource can be effectively used, and especially, unnecessary transmission of terminal's movement information from the RNC to the multicast group managing entity of the core network can be prevented.

Abstract: A method of processing a dynamic database in a distributed processing system based on CORBA platform includes calling a generic method in a server, detecting data by the called generic method, storing the detected data, and returning the detected data to a client, in the distributed processing system. The detected data is initially stored in a local memory of the database. The generic method then creates a dynamic storage area in the database for the data based on the number of data units that were detected, and based on the size of the detected data unit. In this manner, there is no need to pre-define the structure of the storage area before performing the query.

Abstract: A display device and a method for driving the same are disclosed. The display device confirms whether display data applied to a display panel are uniformly maintained for a predetermined time. As a result of confirmation, if the display data are uniformly maintained for a predetermined time, pixels of the display panel are made for a predetermined block unit so that screen save modes are performed to sequentially apply screen save mode data to pixels of each block. The screen save modes are completed after there are sequentially performed for all blocks on the display panel. Thus, uniform luminance deviation can be obtained on the display panel of the display device and further picture quality of the display device can be improved.

Abstract: An improved plasma lighting system is provided which includes a bulb filled with both metal halide and mercury as primary light-emitting materials. By maintaining an operating pressure of the metal halide at between approximately 0.1 and 10 atm, and an operating pressure of the mercury at between approximately 30 and 150 atm, a point source of light characteristic and a spectrum characteristic of the emitted light is improved. Therefore, the plasma lighting system can be applied to an optical system that requires a point source of light, and can maximize lighting efficiency to provide improved overall emission characteristics.
