Abstract: A caster structure for a vacuum cleaner is provided which allows the main body of the vacuum cleaner to be stably positioned at an incline. The caster structure is rotatably supported on a front portion of a bottom surface of the main body of the vacuum cleaner, and includes a caster body which has a planar rear surface, and a caster roller rotatably installed in the caster body 52. The planar rear surface of the caster body includes a slip-prevention protrusion which extends across the planar rear surface to prevent slippage of the main body of the vacuum cleaner when the main body is positioned at an incline. The caster structure may include a single caster, or a pair of casters positioned side by side on the bottom surface of the main body of the vacuum cleaner.

Abstract: A field emission display device is provided which includes data lines formed in a panel, scan lines formed in the direction crossing the data lines in the panel, a first connector installed at an end of the data lines and electrically connected with the data lines, a second connector installed at an end of the scan lines and electrically connected with the scan lines and a printed circuit board which is installed on the rear surface of the panel. The flat emission display device can display an image of a uniform brightness regardless of the position of the screen. Also, the flat emission display device can maintain the brightness of the whole screen uniformly by differently supplying the driving voltage and pulse width of the driving voltage which are supplied to the data driving unit according to the position of the data line, and compensating voltage descending caused by differences in the resistance according to the is position of the scan line by converting the input data value.

Abstract: An apparatus is provided that includes circuitry (i.e. a central processing unit), a peripheral device (i.e. a liquid crystal display), and a thermal coupler. The peripheral device is substantially thermally insulated from the circuitry. The thermal coupler thermally couples the circuitry and the peripheral device. A method is also provided that includes a sensing step and a causing step. The sensing step includes sensing a temperature of a peripheral device (i.e. a liquid crystal display). The causing step includes causing power to be provided to the peripheral device according to the sensed temperature.

Abstract: A predistortion digital linearizer is disclosed. The linearizer includes a predistorter for distorting a digital input signal in the digital domain to have an opposite characteristic to a nonlinear distortion characteristic of a high power amplifier, in accordance with a feedback signal. An adaptation processing unit controls predistortion of the digital input signal using a base band signal outputted from a feedback unit and the digital input signal which has been delayed for a prescribed period of time. Since the input signal of the digital linearizer is directly predistorted in the digital domain, the accuracy of the predistortion can be enhanced. In addition, since the level of the digital input signal is controlled by the gain control signal and then predistorted, so that the output level of the predistortion digital linearizer can be controlled to a desired level.

Abstract: A digital video signal processing apparatus for providing video conferencing services in a mobile communication system includes a plurality of mobile terminals each having a video camera and a MCU (multipoint control unit) for mixing video signals received from the video conference terminals to generate a composite signal and for transmitting the composite signal to each of the terminals.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for encoding images, more particularly to an encoding unit in conjunction with a library of pictorial entities and image qualifiers. The method and apparatus provide encoding an image by using a code factor table in conjunction with a set of element codes. The resulting image code allows the set pictorial elements of an image and their associated image qualifiers to be represented by a compact code uniquely representing a given configuration of pictorial elements. The use of the resulting image code facilitates the transmission and storage of images requiring only the code to be sent or stored. The invention further provides a computer readable medium comprising a program element that direct a computer to implement the encoding process.

Abstract: A system for controlling bias of a delay-locked loop includes a peak detector and a comparator in the form of a differential amplifier. The peak detector detects the amplitude of a signal output from the DLL, and the comparator compares the DLL output signal amplitude to a reference signal. The comparator then generates a tail current control signal for the DLL based on a result of the comparison. In one embodiment, the reference signal is indicative of a predetermined tail current value for the DLL, and the tail current control signal adjusts delay of the DLL to equal the predetermined tail current value. Preferably, the tail current control signal maintains the DLL signal output at a substantially constant amplitude in spite of frequency variations and may also be used to set the voltage swing for the DLL.

The tool includes blades having a a circumferential peripheral edge for 360 degree contact with the casing or liner and are formed from a composite material which comprises a polymeric fiber. Such polymeric fibers include Kevlar®, Twaron®, Dyneema®, Spectra® and Diolen®. Bypass channels for fluid flow past the tool are provided in either the tool body or the blades.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method for transmitting data between transmission systems using clock sources having dissimilar phases is disclosed. After monitoring a state of a transmission system of the other party, when the transmission system of the other party is in a normal state, a write address is generated according to a first system clock, and generation of a read address is enabled after a prescribed time interval has elapsed from the generation time of the write address. By generating the write address and a read address with a certain time interval, it is possible to prevent a write address and a read address from being generated at the same time, and accordingly address collision and data loss caused by address collision can be prevented.

Abstract: The present invention is related to a mobile telecommunication system, and more specifically, to a multi-peak detector of the mobile telecommunication system and a method thereof for high-speed acquisition of paths necessary for a timing synchronism using a hardware multi-peak detector. The peak detector according to the present invention can include a circuit that cumulatively saves a plurality of energy values that have been calculated through a matched filter and a squarer, and a circuit that outputs several energy values out of the cumulatively saved plural energy values, which are saved based on a high-ranked enable control signal and a high-ranked mask signal.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and system of relaying calls with a tone provision function in the next generation mobile communication network. The call relaying procedures and functions support a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) function between an originating gateway controller and a terminating gateway controller, by modifying the Bearer Independent Call Control (BICC) protocol, while receiving the tone from an external tone generating device using the BICC protocol, Media Gateway Control Protocol (MGCP), and 3rd Generation-Inter-Operability Service (3G-IOS) protocol in the next generation mobile communication network based on an Internet Protocol (IP). The BICC, MGCP and 3G-IOS protocols improve the IP-based network by supporting the VoIP function between the originating gateway controller and the terminating gateway controller, while receiving the tone from an external tone generating device.

Abstract: An image distortion correcting apparatus is provided tat is capable of correcting keystone distortion and pincushion distortion in a video display device. The apparatus may include a reference image generating device for generating a reference image and setting a coordinate of the reference image. A displacement measuring device may display the reference image on a screen and measure a coordinate of the displayed image. A distortion information extracting device may extract distortion information on the basis of a coordinate value of the set reference image and a coordinate value of the measured image and generating inverse-distortion information. Still further, a distortion correcting device may generate an inverse-distorted (pre-warping) image of the reference image on the basis of the generated inverse-distortion information.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a power controlling method in a mobile radio communication system using Automatic Repeat reQuest (ARQ) scheme, and more particularly to a power controlling method of response (ACK/NACK) signals for transmitting the ACK/NACK signals in different power based on the permissible probabilities of reception error that the system requires. When the ACK/NACK signals are transmitted and received in the automatic repeat request (ARQ) system, since the ACK/NACK signals can be transmitted in accordance with the transmission power satisfying an error rate required in each signal by differentiating the transmission power of the signal according to each ACK/NACK, the power consumption required in the transmission of the NACK signal can be reduced.

Abstract: A semiconductor device and method of adding metal layers in a semiconductor device with signal reallocation are disclosed. The device has a first layer with a plurality of signal wires. A second layer adjacent to the first layer is also included that has a plurality of signal wires. The signal wires in the first and second layers are substantially parallel with each other. The signal wires are distributed between the first and second layer in a manner that reduces the wire capacitance and/or resistance thereby permitting higher frequency operation and lower power consumption in the device.

Abstract: A system for super-oxygenating water is provided that includes an oxygen generator for generating first oxygen, a combining unit coupled to the oxygen generator for combining the oxygen with the water, a diffusion chamber coupled to the combining unit for receiving the combined water and oxygen and manipulating them into a vortex so as to cause the oxygen to diffuse into the water and yield first oxygenated water, a source of second oxygen, a plurality of cones in communication with the source of second oxygen and configured to receive the first oxygenated water and spin the first oxygenated water to combine it with the second oxygen received from the source to yield super-oxygenated water. The spray nozzle is sized and oriented such that the vortex generated in the diffusion chamber is adequate to diffuse the oxygen into the water as they travel through the vortex and exit the diffusion chamber.

Abstract: A system and method for mobile number portability service in an asynchronous mobile communication network is provided. The system stores changes in mobile service providers and an address of a Network Provider Database (NPDB) in the service network which is presently providing the mobile subscriber with mobile service. By performing a mobile number portability inquiry only for a mobile subscriber who has changed his mobile service provider can be processed by the NPDB in the service network presently providing the mobile subscriber with mobile service, thus reducing the number of NPDBs required and improving system performance.
