Abstract: The invention is directed to an insect collection and viewing device comprising a negative air pressure generating assembly including a motor and a fan driven by the motor and a suitably shaped collection nozzle. A viewing chamber is coupled intermediate the collection nozzle and the negative air pressure assembly. The viewing chamber is tubular in shape and has an air permeable-insect impermeable screen at the downstream opening thereof and a movable valve/lens at the upstream opening thereof. When the valve/lens is open an air flow is established through the device. The air flow path is from the nozzle through the viewing chamber into and out of the assembly. In operation insects of interest are captured by sucking the insect into the device through the nozzle, then through the open valve/lens into the viewing chamber where it is captured between the screen and the closed valve. By making the valve in the shape of a transparent lens the trapped insect may be inspected through the magnifying lens.
Abstract: A semiconductor device manufacturing apparatus which uses a thermal CVD reaction to deposit a film onto a substrate has a ring with an electrode terminal that makes contact with either the substrate or the deposited film thereon, a power supply that applies a current or a potential to this electrode terminal of the ring, and a piston cylinder mechanism for moving the ring up and down, so as to cause its electrode terminal to make and break contact with the substrate or deposited film thereon.
Abstract: An optical measuring apparatus for comprising, in combination, a polarization type interferometer including a polarization type beam splitter in which a polarized beam of light is split into orthogonally polarized reference and test beams, an array of detectors arranged in a line for creating a plurality of phase shifting interferograms, and a scanning device for moving the object in a direction perpendicular to a long axis of the detectors.
Abstract: A system and method for monitoring a facility is provided. Generally, the system comprises monitoring tags wherein each monitoring tag emits an identifier signal unique to each monitoring tag, monitoring sensors wherein the monitoring sensors receive signals from the monitoring tags and relay the signals to one or more monitoring stations, and monitoring stations wherein the monitoring stations log and display information associated with the signals received. The monitoring station identifies possible events based on the signals received from the monitoring sensors. The monitoring station alerts staff members of the events via a graphical user interface, pagers, email, and alarms.

Abstract: The transfer apparatus is directed toward electrical transfer components providing an electrical connection to a rotating object. The transfer apparatus includes a stator base mounted proximate to the rotating object. An axle rotatably mounts at least one conductive disk to the stator base. The conductive disk is held against the rotating object. As the rotating object rotates about a first axis, the conductive disk is made to rotate about a second axis, the second axis otherwise maintaining a static position. A rotationally immobile contact is maintained in substantial electronic contact with the conductive disk whereby a lead wire may be connected to the immobile contact.

Abstract: An information processing blade computer includes a board having a blade structure such that the board is stored in a main body of an information processing apparatus; a part contained in a circuit which is mounted on the board to execute an process, wherein heat is generated during an operation of the part; and a holding mechanism provided to detachably hold a heat exchange section on the part for heat exchange with the part.
Abstract: The system involves a transitionary septic tank. The transitionary septic tank includes an enclosed containment body having an interior portion. An inlet opening is formed in the enclosed containment body. A first outlet opening is formed in the enclosed containment body. A divider is positioned in the interior portion between the inlet opening and the first outlet opening.
Abstract: Disclosed is a gas generating polymer compound that when irradiated with light or other radiation sources makes a solid to gas phase transition due to chemically catylized degradation, irradiative degradation or both. This provides a low cost, stable and easily manufactured means of gas production. Also disclosed are possible uses for the gas generator such as a low cost micro thruster.
Abstract: In a cell contact pad method, a consecutive dummy cell contact pad intersecting with a cell gate electrode is formed at an outer peripheral portion of the memory cell array. The dummy cell contact pad blocks liquid and gas to intrude through a void, and prevents the cell contact pad from being decayed and having high resistivity.
Abstract: A fire resistant electrical cable includes a conductor. Substantially applied around the conductor is an inorganic braid. A ceramifiable polymer is substantially applied over the jacket. The fire resistant electrical cable also includes a retaining jacket substantially applied over the ceramifiable polymer. Multiple fire resistant electrical cables may be combined within a single grouping jacket to provide multi-phase conductance.
Abstract: To induce a targeted non-linear optical effect by a high-peak-power light by using a light pulse from a semiconductor laser without using a light pulse from a large, high-average-power solid laser such as titanium sapphire laser. A semiconductor laser pulse beam with a wavelength of 1550 nm (for example, repeatability of 1 MHz) from a semiconductor laser (laser diode: LD) is efficiently amplified in two stages, front-end and main EDFAs. An optical filter removes a spontaneous emission light component that is noise. An optical filter picks up, from the amplified pulse beam, second harmonic light pulse produced by the non-linearity of an optical device (frequency polarization inversion Mg-added LiNbO3:PPMgLN) to produce a super-continuum light in a 800 nm wavelength region from a photonic crystal fiber (PCF).
Abstract: A new and distinct variety of hop, Humulus lupulus L., named “APOLLO” is characterized by its exceptional high percentage of alpha acids, excellent storage stability of alpha acids, low CoH value for an alpha variety, and resistance to hop powdery mildew strains found in Washington. The new variety was cultivated as a result of a cross in 2000 at Golden Gate Roza Hop Ranches in Prosser, Wash., United States and has been asexually reproduced in Prosser, Wash., United States.
Abstract: A novel variety of hop, Humulus lupulus L., named “Super Galena” is disclosed. “Super Galena” has relatively high contents of bitter acids, beta-acids, total oil, and humulene, and a moderate, pleasant aroma. “Super Galena” is comparable to Galena in its aroma and bitterness profile but offers a substantially higher yield and complete resistance to hop powdery mildew strains found in Washington, United States. The new variety was discovered among the progeny of a sexual cross made in 1998 in Yakima, Wash., United States and has been asexually reproduced and assessed in field plots in Prosser, Wash., United States.
