  • Patent number: 7460190
Abstract: An amorphous-silicon TFT (thin-film-transistor) in an LCD device has a larger channel length at both the edge portions of the channel of the TFT compared to the central portion of the channel by forming chamfers at the corners of the source and drain electrodes. The larger channel length at both the edge portions reduces the leakage current caused by the turned-around light incident onto the channel.

  • Patent number: 7456543
Abstract: An improved design for maintaining separation between electrodes in tunneling, diode, thermionic, and other devices is disclosed. At least one electrode is made from flexible material. A magnetic field is present to combine with the current flowing in the flexible electrode and generate a force that counterbalances the electrostatic force between the electrodes. The balancing of forces allows the separation and parallelism between the electrodes to be maintained at a very small spacing without requiring the use of multiple control systems, actuators, or other manipulating means, or spacers. The shape of one or both electrodes is designed to maintain a constant separation over the entire overlapping area of the electrodes. The end result is an electronic device that maintains two closely spaced parallel electrodes in stable equilibrium with a uniform gap therebetween over a large area in a simple configuration for simplified manufacturability and use to convert heat to electricity or electricity to cooling.

  • Patent number: 7449931
Abstract: There is disclosed a duty ratio adjustment for adjusting the duty ratio of an input clock signal. First and second one-shot pulse generation circuits respectively detect rising/tailing edges of an external input signal and output pulse signals of constant widths. Third and fourth one-shot pulse generation circuits respectively detect rising/tailing edges of an output signal from the delay circuit and output pulse signals. A selector circuit outputs the pulse signals that are output from the third and second one-shot pulse generation circuits as H edge/L edge generation clock signals, when the L width is broadened, and outputs the pulse signals that are output from the first and fourth one-shot pulse generation circuits as H edge/L edge generation clock signals, when the H width is broadened.

  • Patent number: 7446833
Abstract: An in-plane switching mode active matrix type liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate, a second substrate located opposing the first substrate, and a liquid crystal layer sandwiched between the first and second substrates. The first substrate includes a thin film transistor, a pixel electrode each associated to a pixel to be driven, a common electrode to which a reference voltage is applied, data lines, a scanning line, and common electrode lines. Molecular axes of liquid crystal are rotated in a plane parallel with the first substrate by an electric field substantially parallel with a plane of the first substrate to thereby display certain images. The common electrode is composed of transparent material, and are formed on a layer located closer to the liquid crystal layer than the data lines. The common electrode entirely overlaps the data lines except an area where the data lines are located in the vicinity of the scanning line.
