  • Patent number: 7373131
Abstract: A signal input into an input terminal 1 is input into mixers 2, 4, and down-converted with local signals having a phase difference of 90 degrees, respectively, whereby an I-signal and a Q-signal are obtained. An output signal from the mixer 4 is delayed 90 degrees in phase by a phase shifter 6. An adder 7 outputs a sum signal of the I-signal and the Q-signal, and a subtracter 8 outputs a subtracted signal between the I-signal and the Q-signal. The sum signal and the subtracted signal are input into band pass filters 9, 10, in which signals in undesired frequency band are cut, then converted into digital signals by AD converters 11, 12 and input into a signal processor 13. In the signal processor 13, a correlation signal of the sum signal and the subtracted signal is formed, and an image signal included in the sum signal is removed using the correlation signal and the subtracted signal.

  • Patent number: 7369200
Abstract: A semi-transmission type liquid crystal display that maximizes the luminance in reflection mode and transmission mode. The liquid crystal display comprises a lower substrate with thin film transistors, an opposite substrate facing the lower substrate, a liquid crystal layer between the lower substrate and the opposite substrate, a reflection electrode formed in a reflection area of the lower substrate, a transparent electrode formed in a transparent area of the lower substrate, a common electrode formed on the opposite substrate, and a drive circuit for applying a voltage between the reflection electrode and the transparent electrode and the common electrode. The potential difference between a drive voltage applied to that surface of the lower substrate which contacts the liquid crystal layer and a drive voltage applied to that surface of the opposite substrate which contacts the liquid crystal layer is lower in the reflection area than in the transparent area.

  • Patent number: 7362098
Abstract: Two coil forming elements (12, 14) formed of conductor layers and a contact means (19), which is formed in an interlayer dielectric film (13) interposed between the conductor layers and brings the upper and lower coil forming elements into contact with each other through a via hole form a stacked coil (10). One end of the stacked coil is connected to an upper grounding layer (27) of a strip line (20), and the other end of the stacked coil is connected to a strip conductor (23) of the strip line. The number of turns of the stacked coil is larger than 1. A magnetic flux penetrating through the stacked coil increases to be able to induce a relatively large electromotive force. Thus, a high spatial resolution can be obtained easily.

  • Patent number: 7355932
Abstract: The invention detects the thickness error of the transparent substrate using a general focus error signal detection system employing the fact that the reflecting light from the optical disk causes distortions in diffraction image at the detection plane or unsymmetrical expansions before and after the detection plane due to spherical aberration as a result of thickness errors of the transparent substrate. The absolute amount of the thickness error of the transparent substrate and its symbol are detected by detecting the difference between the absolute value of the positive side peak and the absolute value of the negative side peak of the focus sum signal, or the difference in focus positions between the peak point of the focus sum signals and the zero point of the focus error signals using the focus error signal detection system according to the knife-edge method. This enables it to detect the thickness error of the transparent substrate without using a special optical system.

  • Patent number: 7344746
Abstract: A process for the direct hydrogenation of hop resin acids in the absence of a liquid, organic solvent by reacting the hop resin acids which hydrogen in the presence of a noble metal catalyst at a temperature at which the resin acids are sufficiently fluid to allow easy mixing with the catalyst and suitably facilitate the hydrogenation reaction. Alternatively, the necessary fluidity may be achieved at relatively low temperature by subjecting the reactants to a high pressure of CO2 gas such that the quantity of this gas that dissolves into the resin is sufficient to substantially reduce its viscosity. Particularly useful applications for the process are the conversion is iso-?-acids to tetrahydroiso-?-acids and rho-iso-?-acids into hexahydroiso-?-acids. The resinous products of the hydrogenation process may be readily converted to aqueous, alkaline solutions suitable for use in brewing beer.
