  • Patent number: 6763561
Abstract: A continuous casting and hot rolling apparatus for the parallel production for a multiplicity of rolled shapes, wire and rod of circular, oval and polygonyl cross section in which a continuous caster or flow shaper produces initially a plurality of discreet strands which continuously are fed to a hot rolling line and then can be diverted, if desired to a universal rolling unit in which pairs of strands are rolled alternately in vertical and horizontal rolls. The unit may be driven by a common motor and can have drive shafts for the respective stands located at the vertices of an isosceles triangle.

  • Patent number: 6764300
Abstract: A roll and press gas lighter is rendered child resistant by a protective strip (26, 35) which extends around the sparkwheel (15) and impedes the action of the user's thumb. The wheel assembly (13) is mounted for reciprocal motion and upwardly biased by the flint spring (19), and is depressed by the user during operation. The thumbwheel (16) may have a smooth periphery to increase the force required to rotate it.

  • Patent number: 6763900
Abstract: An orienter for controlling the drilling direction in a well. A main body 40, 23 is couplable to a drill string, and a nose tubing 50 is movably mounted by a universal joint in the main body. A collar 42 with a bore 43 engages in a cam-like manner with an extension 26 of the nose tubing on the drill string side of the universal joint. The collar is movable longitudinally ‘a’ to control the magnitude ‘b’ of the nose tubing, and circumferentially ‘c’ to control the azimuth ‘d’. The nose tubing is aligned on both sides of the universal joint and the bore of the collar is angled relative to the main axis of the main body. The collar may be hydraulically or electrically controlled.

  • Patent number: 6758074
Abstract: A key has a blade formed with a part-cylindrical face and with a pair of relatively shallow, outwardly open, and generally parallel but spaced grooves formed in the face extending generally longitudinally in a nonstraight path and a relatively deep and outwardly open groove formed in the face and extending generally longitudinally in a nonstraight path generally nonparallel to the shallow grooves. The grooves each have a plurality of control positions at which they extend substantially parallel to the blade and are inclined to the blade between the respective control positions.

  • Patent number: 6760395
Abstract: A memory for data accumulation includes an input on which such data are entered as a stream of input data under the control of an input timing signal and an output starting from which the data entered in memory are read as a stream of output data under the control of a reconstructed timing signal. A phase-locked loop uses this input timing signal as an input signal to generate a corresponding phase-locked output signal. Of such phase-locked loop output. A device is provided to measure residual phase wander and act on the transfer function band of the phase of phase-locked loop output which is preferably without ring filters.

  • Patent number: 6752832
Abstract: A spinal implant for engagement between a pair of vertebrae has a pair of parts displaceable relative to each other along an axis and each adapted to engage a respective one of the vertebrae. One of the parts is formed with a screwthread engaging a nut that bears axially on the other of the parts and that is formed with an externally accessible array of gear teeth. This implant is set by a setting tool having a holder fittable with the other part, a rotary member in the holder, and a gear on the rotary member meshable with the teeth of the one part when the holder is fitted to the other part.

  • Patent number: 6748983
Abstract: A conveyor chain has lower pins and is displaced in steps through a station. Respective pairs of plates have holes fitted to the pins and confronting cutouts together forming seats shaped to fit complementarily around necks of bottles. Horizontally displaceable supports in the station above the chain carry downwardly projecting upper pins. An actuator raises the plates in the station and thereby slides the holes of the plates in the station from the lower pins onto the upper pins. The arms and upper pins are moved apart when the plates are on the upper pins to open up the seat so that a bottle can be fitted to or taken out of the seat. The arms and upper pins are moved together when the plates are on the upper pins to close the cutouts around a bottle positioned between them, and then lowered back down onto the lower pins.

  • Patent number: 6745455
Abstract: A machining apparatus has a lower housing part, an upper housing part having a lower side, and a plurality of support posts fixed to the upper and lower parts and holding the upper part fixedly at a spacing above the lower part. A tool holder displaceable parallel to a horizontal tool axis on the lower side of the upper housing part carries a chuck rotatable about the tool axis and can hold a machining tool. A supply station on the lower part offset horizontally perpendicular to the tool axis from the tool holder is can hold a plurality of the workpieces. A cross slide connected between the upper housing part and a workpiece chuck displaces the workpiece chuck in a horizontal direction perpendicular to the tool axis and in a vertical direction to displace a workpiece between the station and a position aligned on the tool axis with the tool chuck.

  • Patent number: 6742323
Abstract: A strapping apparatus for securing a tape around a package has a housing, a support roll rotatable on the housing, a tube shaft pivotal on the housing adjacent the support roll about a tube-shaft axis, and a drive shaft rotatable in the tube shaft about a drive-shaft axis parallel to and offset from the tube-shaft axis. A first drive roll on the drive shaft carries a friction layer bearing axially offset from the drive-shaft axis on the housing. A first drive connected to the drive shaft rotates same and the first drive roll in a clamping direction and thereby oppositely rotates the tube shaft about the tube-shaft axis into an end position and also can rotate the drive shaft and the first drive roll in an opposite freeing direction to thereby oppositely rotate the tube shaft about the tube-shaft axis into another end position.
