  • Patent number: 6186533
Abstract: An integral frame structure for vehicles that includes a telescopically extending tubular member with rear and front support assemblies mounted perpendicularly to the ends. Transverse cross members are perpendicularly mounted to the longitudinally extending tubular member. The tubular member has a relatively large diameter with respect to the transverse cross members that are kept in perpendicular position with respect to the tubular member defining a plane below the longitudinal upper portion of the tubular member. A load is supported by the front and rear support assemblies as well as the cross assemblies. The load is also supported by the upper longitudinal portion of the tubular member, specially, the portion adjacent to the rear portion. The structure is easily assembled and capable of being stored in a volumetrically efficient manner.

  • Patent number: 6186461
Abstract: A holder for marker pens that keep the latter readily available for use while providing a relatively sealed compartment that prevents or minimize the circulation of air around the tip of the pen. The housing has slanted walls that provide structural stability to the holder when it holds one or more pens. An opening in the housing includes upper and lower cavities with a slanted portion inbetween acting as a seal for the end of the tubular housing of a pen. As step in the lower cavity further reduces its diameter ensuring the further isolation of the pen's tip thus protecting from the frying action of circulating air. Portable embodiments for use with a user's belt permit ready access to pens for an ambulatory user. One of these embodiments includes a removable pen holder member.

  • Patent number: 6174074
Abstract: A housing for lighting assemblies used to enclosed a ballast. Two opposite walls include each a pair of longitudinally extending pairs of ribs that slidably receive the ends of a plate member. The walls and the plate member are made out of a heat conducting material, such as aluminum. One of the plates is mounted urging said ballast against one of the walls for coplanar abutment and maximum heat transfer from the ballast to the walls. Another plate is mounted between the ballast and one of the end walls to avoid movement of the ballast, specially during transportation. Elongated longitudinally extending heat dissipating ribs are defined in the outer surfaces of the housing walls.

  • Patent number: 6167670
Abstract: A system for building shaft casing for dumb-waiters in a building structure with prefabricated assemblies that are readily stackable over each other. One lower, middle and top assemblies constitute the minimum combination typically used in going from one floor to the next. However, the middle and upper assemblies can be repeated depending on the structure where the system is installed. The assemblies include each four elongated corner members with respective ends that receive connecting pin members that permit the structurally stable stacking up of the assemblies. A central and continuous passage is defined. The lower assembly includes two apertures with adjacent compartments within the central passage one to have access to the dumbwaiter and the other one to access the motor and control means. The top assembly has an aperture to provide access to the sprocket mechanism used with the chain that suspends the dumbwaiter within the shaft casing.

  • Patent number: 6164795
Abstract: A universal holder for keys with an illuminated member that projects a beam of light substantially parallel to the direction of the key being housed by the holder. One end of the key protrudes outside the holder while the other end is housed within the holder sandwiched by two pad members. Two substantially similar sections joined together by an integral hinge with opposing cavities that receive the pad members. The pad members are deformable and conform to the dimensions of the cavities providing a firm grip on the key avoiding any internal play. Keys with different configurations can be thus accommodated. A battery operated circuit is closed with membrane switches that cause the light element to produce a light beam.

  • Patent number: 6158922
Abstract: A system for combating coastal erosion comprised of a sufficient number of sand trapping assemblies that include a conical member and a hexagonal base. The conical member has upper and lower ends with respective openings for receiving and discharging the sand brought by the water currents. Contiguous assemblies are disposed so that the entire bottom surface is covered. The hexagonal base interlocks the different assemblies. If necessary, one way stakes can be used to further secure the assemblies to the bottom of the body of water being protected.

  • Patent number: 6138842
Abstract: A point of sale display with a collapsible base assembly removably mounted to one end of an elongated tubular member with a square cross-section. The elongated tubular member includes a lateral wall with slots therealong to receive the ends of supporting walls and arm assemblies that are removably mounted to the longitudinal walls in perpendicular relationship thereto. In one alternative embodiment two of the supporting walls are hingedly mounted, otherwise they include lateral hook terminations. Flat portions are removably mounted on the supporting walls and arm assemblies to provide flat surfaces kept at spaced apart and parallel relationship with respect to each other to support goods in display. In another configuration, the elongated tubular member is used as a wheelbarrow by transferring the weight of the display to the wheel assembly, at one end of the elongated tubular member.

  • Patent number: 6112563
Abstract: A remotely activated locking device for closure elements that is self-contained within the closure elements, electrically operated and reliable. An electric motor with a worm gear is meshed with a gear mechanism to control the movement of a locking tongue member. A gear member is caused to move between two angular positions. The gear member includes a perpendicularly mounted off-center pin. A pivotally mounted elongated arm is pushed by the offset pin to cause the retraction of a spring loaded tongue member. A receiver is also housed within the closure element to activate the motor. A remote transmitter sends a signal to activate the receiver that in turn creates an output for a predetermined amount of time when the code transmitted matches the code stored.
