  • Patent number: 8136018
Abstract: Forward error correction may be implemented in a network having first, second and third nodes. The second node receives streaming media message packets and one or more check packets from an upstream first node. The second node transmits the message packets and check packets to a downstream third node. The second node uses the check packets to decode missing message packets and transmits the decoded missing packets to the third node before the missing message packets are to be presented by the third node. The third node may receive message packets and a first set of check packets from the second node and a second set of check packets from the first node. The third node may use check packets from both sets to decode missing message packets.

  • Patent number: 8131535
Abstract: In emulation of a target system on a host system one or more blocks of target system code may be translated with the host system to produce one or more corresponding blocks of translated code. Translating the target system code may include linking two or more blocks of translated code together to form a chain such that a look-up in a first translated block in the chain will directly branch to a second translated block. The target system code may be analyzed for the presence of one or more native target system instructions indicating modification of the target system code during execution. If such native target system instructions are present some or all of the blocks of translated code may be marked potentially invalid. The one or more blocks marked as potentially invalid may be re-translated and one or more instructions in the blocks of translated code may be overridden without undoing the chain.

  • Patent number: 8104342
Abstract: An instrument for measuring a parameter comprises a substrate, a plurality of sensors carried by and distributed across a surface of the substrate that individually measure the parameter at different positions, an electronic processing component carried by the substrate surface, electrical conductors extending across the surface connected to the sensors and the electronic processing component, and a cover disposed over the sensors, electronic processing component and conductors. The cover and substrate have similar material properties to a production substrate processed by a substrate processing cell. The instrument has approximately the same thickness and/or flatness as the production substrate. The instrument may be subjected a substrate process and one or more parameters may be measured with the instrument during the process. The behavior of a production wafer in the substrate process may be characterized based on measurements of the parameters made with the one or more sensors.

  • Patent number: 8073157
Abstract: Targeted sound detection methods and apparatus are disclosed. A microphone array has two or more microphones M0 . . . MM. Each microphone is coupled to a plurality of filters. The filters are configured to filter input signals corresponding to sounds detected by the microphones thereby generating a filtered output. One or more sets of filter parameters for the plurality of filters are pre-calibrated to determine one or more corresponding pre-calibrated listening zones. Each set of filter parameters is selected to detect portions of the input signals corresponding to sounds originating within a given listening zone and filter out sounds originating outside the given listening zone. A particular pre-calibrated listening zone is selected at a runtime by applying to the plurality of filters a set of filter coefficients corresponding to the particular pre-calibrated listening zone.

  • Patent number: 8068234
Abstract: An interferometer system and method may be used to measure substrate thickness or shape. The system may include two spaced apart reference flats having that form an optical cavity between two parallel reference surfaces. A substrate holder may be configured to place the substrate in the cavity with first and second substrate surfaces substantially parallel with corresponding first and second reference surfaces such that a space between the first or second substrate surface is three millimeters or less from a corresponding one of the reference surfaces or a damping surface. Interferometer devices may be located on diametrically opposite sides of the cavity and optically coupled thereto. The interferometers can map variations in spacing between the substrate surfaces and the reference surfaces, respectively, through interference of light optically coupled to and from to the cavity via the interferometer devices.

  • Patent number: 8060356
Abstract: Processor emulation using fragment level translation is disclosed. A target system having a main target processor, a secondary target processor element and an instruction memory associated with the secondary target processor element may be emulated with a host system having one or more host processors and a host memory. Two or more target system code instructions for the secondary target processor may be grouped into one or more fragments with known starts and ends. A data structure that maps the host memory locations of the starts and ends may be maintained. Each fragment may be translated into a corresponding set of position-independent translated fragments executable by the host system. The translated fragments may be loaded into one or more of the host processors. If a memory layout for target system code corresponding to the one or more fragments has changed, the fragments may be dynamically re-linked, without re-translation, and executed.

  • Patent number: 8052885
Abstract: Structural modification using electron beam activated chemical etch (EBACE) is disclosed. A target or portion thereof may be exposed to a gas composition of a type that etches the target when the gas composition and/or target are exposed to an electron beam. By directing an electron beam toward the target in the vicinity of the gas composition, an interaction between the electron beam and the gas composition etches a portion of the target exposed to both the gas composition and the electron beam. Structural modifications of the target may be conducted by means of etching due to interaction between the electron beam and gas composition.

  • Patent number: 8049315
Abstract: A semiconductor package assembly may include a lead frame having a die bonding pad and plurality of leads coupled to the first die bonding pad. A vertical semiconductor device may be bonded to the die bonding pad. The device may have a conductive pad electrically connected to one lead through a first bond wire. An electrically isolated conductive trace may be formed from a layer of conductive material of the first semiconductor device. The conductive trace provides an electrically conductive path between the first bond wire and a second bond wire. The conductive path may either pass underneath a third bond wire thereby avoiding the third bond wire crossing another bond wire, or the conductive path may result in a reduced length for the first and second bond wires that is less than a predetermined maximum length.

  • Patent number: 8045179
Abstract: Line edge roughness or line width roughness of a feature on a sample may be determined from incident radiation scattered from the feature. An amount of ordered scattered radiation characterized by a discrete diffraction order is determined and a diffuse scattered radiation signal is measured.
