  • Patent number: 5623258
Abstract: A system for monitoring the tour that a guard must undertake in each building of a large number of building sites involves an arrangement in which a system control center has a two-way communication by telephone network with each of a large number of building sites. Within each building, a building site unit has a two-way communication by broadcast with a large number of tour station units. A guard with a guard identification card checks in through a card reader at each tour station unit. A unique tour station unit identification number is associated with the guard identification number and transmitted to the building site unit where it is associated with a time and date and transmitted to the system control center. In this fashion, a large number of sites and a larger number of tour station units can all be monitored on close to a real time basis. A defective tour station unit can readily be replaced with a standard unit available at each building site.

  • Patent number: 5620814
Abstract: The object of a process and an arrangement for producing dose profiles for the fabrication of structured surfaces with a beam which is used for exposure and is directed on the surface consists in arranging the surface irradiation in such a way that the processing times and material outlay required for fabrication of micro-lenses and micro-lens arrays can be substantially reduced. According to the invention, the beam has at least one shaped region in cross section, which shaped region is movable relative to the surface and whose extent in the movement direction of the relative movement, in combination with the velocity of the relative movement, determines the dose. Effective lithographic fabrication of lens structures, in particular micro-lenses and micro-lens arrays, can be realized with the invention.

  • Patent number: 5617855
Abstract: A medical testing device comprises an analog-to-digital converter for converting to an electrical digital signal a voice-frequency signal originating in a speech by a human speaker. The A/D converter is connected to a speech analyzing circuit which analyzes the digital signal to determine a value for a preselected first parameter characteristic of the speech, the parameter being taken from the group comprising frequency or tone, amplitude or loudness, and speed. A video camera or other component is provided for generating a video signal encoding an image of the human speaker's face during the speech. The camera is connected to an image analyzing circuit which processes the video signal to determine a value for a preselected second parameter characteristic of an emotional expression of the human speaker during the speech. • Patent number: 5615528
Abstract: A load bearing structure having a set of uniform voids functions to resolve the forces imposed by developing compression in the material having the voids and minimizing the amount of tension developed in the material. For the voids to have this function, they must be deployed in a particular fashion. The voids are deployed to encompass a particular set of points. The set of points are such that each point in the matrix is spaced an equal distance from twelve and only twelve adjacent points of the matrix. The distance between the points does not matter as long as all are uniformly distanced in accordance with that rule. If the structure is considered to be composed of a closely packed set of hypothetical rhombic dodecahedra (RD) and the four edge vertices of each of those hypothetical RDs is truncated, the result will be a set of cubic voids.

  • Patent number: 5616927
Abstract: Proposed is an improved frame-supported pellicle, which is an integral body consisting of a rigid frame, a transparent plastic resin film adhesively bonded to one end surface of the frame in a slack-free fashion and a layer of a pressure-sensitive adhesive on the other end surface of the frame. The improvement consists in the use of a specific pressure-sensitive adhesive capable of being imparted with a greatly decreased bonding strength when it is heated at a temperature higher than a critical temperature or irradiated with UV light in a dose exceeding a critical dose so as to facilitate demounting of the frame-supported pellicle from a photomask on which the pellicle is mounted when it is to be replaced with a new pellicle without leaving any fragments of the adhesive adherent to the photomask surface.

  • Patent number: 5614593
Abstract: In preparing a matte vinyl chloride polymer by suspension polymerizing a monomeric charge comprising monomeric vinyl chloride in an aqueous medium, polymerization is started in the presence of 0.05-0.25 part by weight of diallyl phthalate per 100 parts by weight of the monomeric charge, and polymerization is continued while adding 0.01-0.15 part by weight of 1,6-hexanediol di(meth)acrylate per 100 parts by weight of the monomeric charge when the rate of polymerization is in the range of 20-60%. There is produced a matte vinyl chloride-diallyl phthalate copolymer having a tetrahydrofuran-insoluble gel content of 0.5-2.5% by weight in a reproducible manner. A composition prepared by blending the copolymer with a plasticizer has minimized fish-eyes and improved matting effect.

  • Patent number: 5611600
Abstract: A catch hook for the releasable locking of the backrest connected with the seat part of a vehicle seat such that the backrest can swivel forward. The catch hook is supported in a swivelably articulated manner at the articulated part of an articulated fitting which possibly comprises an adjusting and locking arrangement for adjusting the inclination of the backrest, this articulated part being connected with the seat part so as to be swivelable. The hook jaw of the catch hook engages around a stop for the articulated part in the locking position, this stop being fixed to the seat part. The locking position is secured in a releasable manner by a retaining lever which acts on the catch hook and is supported at the articulated part so as to be swivelable. In order to minimize the structural component parts required for the catch hook arrangement, the catch hook has a control cam forming the upper side of the hook jaw and projecting beyond the hook finger.
