  • Patent number: 6506122
Abstract: Each pocket of a cage is composed of a pair of axial wall surfaces opposing each other along the axial line of the cage, a pair of circumferential wall surfaces opposing each other along the circumference direction of the cage, and radii linking the axial wall surfaces and circumferential wall surface. A ratio (R/d) of the radius of curvature R of the radii to the diameter d of the torque transmitting balls is set within a range 0.45 R/d 0.62. Also, the circumferential wall surfaces and radii are shaped along an arc having the radius of curvature R. Further, as to the axial wall surfaces, variance in the treatment margin is lessened by applying the grinding, hardened steel cutting, or the like after the heat treatment (carburized hardening and tempering) is applied to the cage.

  • Patent number: 6506015
Abstract: A centrifugal compressor for a turbo-fan engine includes a shroud covering the edges of vanes of a compressor wheel mounted on an outer shaft with a clearance &agr; left therebetween. A vertical section of the shroud includes an upstream portion extending in an axial direction, and a downstream portion curved radially outwards and extending from a downstream end of the upstream portion. The thickness of the downstream portion is increased gradually from the upstream side toward the downstream side. Thus, it is possible to prevent the variation of the clearance &agr; defined along the downstream portion of the shroud which exerts a large influence on the compression performance, thereby suppressing the reduction in performance due to the thermal expansion of the shroud.

  • Patent number: 6502666
Abstract: An engine lubrication system is provided which has an oil pump for supplying lubricating oil from an oil pan to an area that is to be lubricated, the oil pump being positioned outside-the-oil pan and driven by a camshaft. An oil passage formation member fitted to the lower face of an engine block so as to be housed in the oil pan, comprises an oil inlet passage for taking in oil from the oil pan to the oil pump and a relief valve for discharging excess oil discharged by the oil pump via an oil supply passage. When the relief valve opens, the excess oil is not directly discharged to the oil pan but is returned to the oil inlet passage from the oil supply passage via a connecting path. The space required for housing a vertical engine, and in particular in the vertical direction, can thus be reduced and the formation of bubbles in the oil inside the oil pan due to the oil discharged by the relief valve through the oil supply passage, can be prevented.

  • Patent number: 6505142
Abstract: Annular grooves are formed on both end surfaces of a recording drum to be rotated, and two balance weights are disposed inside each of the annular grooves. The balance weight is composed of a magnet, and is attracted to the end surface of the recording drum by its magnetic force. The two balance weights are arranged at a predetermined attaching angle such that an unbalance force caused by centrifugal forces developed by a plate and a movable clamp, for example, is canceled. Every time the size and the mass of the plate are changed, the positions of the two balance weights are adjusted, so that forced vibration in the recording drum is restrained.

  • Patent number: 6504473
Abstract: When a turning state of a subject vehicle is detected, the action timing of the contact avoidance support device is slower than when the turning state is not detected. When an action timing determining part 22 estimates that there is the possibility of the subject vehicle coming into contact with the vehicle in front and a turning state of the subject vehicle is detected based on the output from a transversal acceleration sensor S4, a changing rate of the steering angle sensor S5, and a yaw rate sensor S3, a compensation interval calculating part 23 calculates a compensation interval depending on the size of the detected turning state (the amount of the steering angle, the changing rate of the steering angle, and the transversal acceleration). The action timing of the brake actuator 12 is slowed by this compensation interval.

  • Patent number: 6502884
Abstract: A CD changer support device mountable in a trunk forming a luggage compartment of a motorcycle, includes a storage recess to store a CD changer. The storage recess is provided in a luggage compartment-forming wall of the trunk. A swing support device allows the CD changer to swing between a protruding position where the opening of the CD changer protrudes inside the luggage compartment and a storage position where the CD changer is stored within the storage recess. A cover plate covers the CD changer. When the CD changer is in the storage position, the cover plate blocks the opening of the storage recess so as to be flush with the inner surface of the luggage compartment-forming wall. When an operating force is applied to the swing support device, the CD changer swings between the protruding position and the storage position.

  • Patent number: 6502948
Abstract: A surface lighting device includes a stick type light guide body. The stick type light guide body receives a light emitted from a light emitting surface of an LED fixed on a substrate from a side surface which faces to the LED and emits the received light from a side surface which faces to a light guide plate. The emitted light is incident from a side surface of the light guide plate and is emitted from an upper surface of the light guide plate. Then, the substrate is formed with a through hole, and the stick light guide is formed with a protrude portion on the lower surface thereof. By fitting the protrude portion into the through hole, the LED and the stick type light guide body are relatively positioned such that the light emitting surface of the LED and the side surface of the stick light guide are brought into close contact with each other.
