Abstract: A recording/reproducing medium having grooves, a land formed between the grooves, and land prepits formed on the land in which each of said land prepits has a most optimum design condition where a ratio (LLP Level/offset) between a voltage amplitude (LLP Level) of a land prepit detection signal and an offset level (offset) of an RF signal becomes more than about 10 or where an amplitude change of an RF signal through the land prepit becomes minimum. The recording/reproducing medium can be one of a DVD-R and a DVD-RW.

Abstract: A decorative sheet including a pattern with a third-dimensional appearance is provided. The decorative sheet has a reflective layer for reflecting incident light. On the reflective layer, a transparent layer is formed. On the transparent layer, a light shielding layer for shielding incident light is formed. A pattern layer is interposed between the light shielding layer and the reflective layer in such a manner, for example, that it is included in the rear surface of the light shielding layer or in the transparent layer. The light shielding layer is provided with a plurality of through holes for passing incident light toward the reflective layer and emission light which leads out a pattern image reflected in the reflective layer.
Abstract: A signal transmission system has a response time of a signal transmission line which is set approximately equal to or longer than the length of a transmitted symbol. More specifically, terminal resistance is set larger than the characteristic impedance of the signal transmission line, driver output resistance is set to a large value, or a damping resistor is provided in series with the signal transmission line. With this configuration, signal power can be reduced drastically.
Abstract: The constant velocity universal joint comprises an outer joint member 1 that has three curved guide grooves 1b formed in the axial direction on a spherical inner circumferential surface 1a thereof, an inner joint member 2 that has three curved guide grooves 2b formed in the axial direction on a spherical outer circumferential surface 2a thereof, three torque transmitting balls 3 disposed in ball tracks that are formed by the coordination of the guide grooves 1b of the outer joint member 1 and the guide grooves 2b of the inner joint member 2, a cage 4 that holds the balls 3, and elastic pressing means 5 interposed between the outer circumferential surface 2a of the inner joint member 2 and the inner circumferential surface 4a of the cage 4.
Abstract: A torque converter includes a pump impeller, a turbine impeller, a stator impeller disposed between the pump impeller and the turbine impeller, and a free wheel which is interposed between the stator impeller and a stationary case and operable to lock the stator impeller in order to allow the stator impeller to bear a reaction force generated with the amplification of torque between the pump and turbine impellers. In this torque converter, a stator shaft connected to the stator impeller is disposed with its tip end being passed through a turbine shaft to protrude outside the turbine shaft. The free wheel is interposed between the tip end of the stator shaft and the stationary case. Thus, it is possible to reduce the diameter of the stator impeller and thus, the diameter of the entire torque converter, irrespective of the presence of the free wheel inhibiting the rotation of the stator impeller.
Abstract: A wheel bearing unit is provided in which the service life level is improved without making the size and weight of the bearing unduly large. The wheel bearing unit for rotatably supporting a car wheel on the body of a motor vehicle comprises a rotary member, an outer ring, and double rows of rolling elements. The rotary member comprises a hub wheel to which a car wheel is attached and an inner ring press-fitted to the outer circumference of the smaller end face of the hub wheel, wherein double rows of raceway surfaces are formed in the outer circumferential surfaces of the hub wheel and the inner ring, respectively. The outer ring has double rows of raceway surfaces formed therein so as to be opposite to the raceway surfaces of the hub wheel and the inner ring, and is fixedly coupled to a car-body-side knuckle. The double rows of rolling elements are interposed between the raceway surfaces of the hub wheel, the inner ring, and the outer ring.

Abstract: A control device for a hybrid vehicle that can avoid component damage due to such operation, and can continue driving smoothly even in the case that operation that does not occur during normal driving occurs. In the case that the main contactor 11, which has been turned ON, is turned OFF due to the ignition being turned OFF while the motor 2 has a high rotation speed, and then the ignition is turned ON again, the engine control device 4 controls engine 1 so that the rotation speed of the engine 1 becomes the rotation speed at which the voltage generated by regeneration of motor 2 is equal to or below the withstanding voltage of the power drive unit 7. Subsequently, when the main contactor 11 is turned ON by the engine speed falling, the engine control device 4 controls the engine so that the engine speed becomes equal to or less than 7000 rpm.
Abstract: The oscillator 40 with cycle time correction includes a low accuracy oscillator 30A generating a clock CLK3, a counter 41 counting the clock CLK3 and cleared by activation of a clear signal CLR1, a register 42 storing a count CN of the counter 41 as a reference value RV in response to activation of a capture signal CAP; a comparator 43 activating a coincidence signal EQ when CN=RV, a control register 44 including a bit outputting a clear signal CLR2, a bit outputting an enable signal EN and a bit outputting a capture signal CAP, and logic circuits 45 and 46 activating the clear signal CLR1 when the clear signal CLR2 is active or when the enable signal EN and the coincidence signal EQ are both active.
Abstract: A torque converter includes a turbine impeller integrally connected to a pump impeller, a side-cover having a boss and covering the turbine impeller, and a turbine shaft extending through the boss and connected to the turbine impeller. A radial bearing and a one-way clutch are disposed axially adjacent to each other between the boss of the side-cover and the turbine shaft. The radial bearing serves to retain the boss and the turbine shaft concentrically, and the one-way clutch connects the turbine shaft and the side-cover to each other, when a back load is applied to the turbine shaft. Therefore, a load received by a clutch element of the one-way clutch such as a sprag between the turbine shaft and the side-cover is equalized. Thus, when a back load is applied to the turbine shaft, a slipping between the turbine impeller and the pump impeller is prevented, thereby providing a good engine brake effect.
Abstract: According to an aspect of the present invention there is provided an LSI device having an output terminal outputting a data, comprising a data output circuit connected to the output terminal and capable of adjusting an output impedance thereof; and an adjustment circuit which detects a transient voltage at the output terminal when an output logic of the data output circuit is switched in a condition that a transmission line not terminated by a terminating resistor is connected to the output terminal, compares the transient voltage with a reference voltage, and adjusts the output impedance of the data output circuit so as to match a characteristic impedance of the transmission line.
Abstract: The present invention provides a data storage device that has high reliability and less power consumption, and a data read-out circuit and a data read-out method employed in the data storage device. This data storage device of the present invention includes a bit line and a memory cell (a ferroelectric capacitor) connected to the bit line. This data storage device characteristically further includes: a capacitor that accumulates electric charge supplied; a negative voltage generating circuit, a p-channel MOS transistor T2, a Vth generating circuit 11, and a feedback circuit 13 that transfer electric charge outputted onto the bit line BL at the time of data read-out to the capacitor; and a sense amplifier circuit 5 that amplifies a voltage generated by the electric charge accumulated by the capacitor, so as to read out the data from the memory cell.
Abstract: A tuning-fork vibratory gyro has first and second arms and a base integrally connected to the first and second arms. The gyro includes drive electrodes used to generate tuning-fork vibrations due to a piezoelectric transversal effect, and detection electrodes provided on the first and second arms and used to output a detection voltage due to an angular velocity.
Abstract: An electronic control unit controls an air/fuel ratio of an engine having a lean NOx catalyst in its exhaust system in order to improve the cleaning of exhaust gas during rich process to reduce lean NOx catalyst. The electronic control unit includes an estimator for estimating NOx amount occluded in the lean NOx catalyst; a device for performing shift-to-rich process responsive to the NOx amount estimated by said estimator exceeding a predetermined value; a calculator for calculating an accumulated value of an exhaust flow amount; and a device for completing the shift-to-rich process responsive to the accumulated value of the exhaust flow amount exceeding a threshold value. Completing the shift-to-rich process using the accumulated value of the exhaust flow amount enables the NOx occluded in the lean NOx catalyst to be precisely reduced.
Abstract: A medical monitoring system has a first detecting device provided at a place where a subject exists, for detecting organic condition of the subject, a diagnosing device for diagnosing health condition of the subject based on the organic condition detected by the first detecting device and for producing organic data. A transmitting system is provided for transmitting the organic data to a service center, and a second diagnosing device is provided in the service center for diagnosing the health condition of the subject based on the organic data.
Abstract: A semiconductor device includes memory cells of one-transistor one-capacitor connected to n+1 bit lines that are simultaneously driven, sense amplifiers connected to the n+1 bit lines, and a reference voltage generating circuit generates an average voltage of a highest voltage and a lowest voltage among bit line voltages that are obtained by accessing the n+1 bit lines in parallel, and supplying the average voltage to the sense amplifiers as a reference voltage.

The raceway is tempered after either quenching or carbonitriding and its surface hardness presents at least HRC 58 after tempering.
Abstract: A floor plan and a cell layout in each of a plurality of blocks are designed. A clock tree is generated in such a manner that the clock skew in each lower level block is minimum. Placement position of a root clock driver and information about an area where the cells can be placed are given to the upper level block. An average delay value of delay values from the root clock driver to a distal buffer is obtained for each block. A flock tree is generated based on these information in such a manner that the clock skew between the higher level block is minimum. If a buffer is newly generated, then its placement position is adjusted based on the cell layout of the lower level block. Wire is distributed in the lower and then in the higher level blocks.
