  • Patent number: 5987192
Abstract: A method and apparatus for resizing or processing images initially retrieves a one-dimensional sample of the image, such as a line of pixels. The image can be of a machine-readable symbol, or other data. A moving window having, for example, five pixels, includes a center "hard core" and four surrounding pixels. Two or more structural sets or multisets are applied to the window to produce a set of pixels greater than the set of pixels in the original image. For example, the center pixel is repeated three times, while immediately adjacent left and right pixels are repeated twice. Thus, a series of nine pixels results. The resulting nine pixels are then sorted based on descending gray scale levels. The n-th largest pixels is selected, such as the third largest. The image is updated, the window moved, and the method repeats again. Pyramid filtering, cubic convolution interpolation, or other techniques can be used to reduce the size of an image, and more complex windows and structural sets can be employed.

  • Patent number: 5986488
Abstract: A one-shot circuit comprises a pulse generation circuit having an external clock terminal adapted to receive an external clock signal, a reset terminal coupled to receive a reset signal, and an internal clock terminal on which the pulse generation circuit develops an internal clock signal. The pulse generation circuit operates in a first mode to drive the internal clock signal from a first level to a second level in response to a transition of the external clock signal from a first level to a second level. The pulse generation circuit operates in a second mode to drive the internal clock signal from the second level to the first level in response to the reset signal going active. A delay circuit has input and output terminals coupled to the internal clock terminal and reset terminal, respectively, of the pulse generation circuit. The delay circuit operates to drive the reset signal active a delay time after the pulse generation circuit drives the internal clock signal from the first level to the second level.

  • Patent number: 5986955
Abstract: A hidden data path minimizes equilibration delays in coupling differential data through a complementary data path. The hidden data path may be used for both reading and writing to the memory cell array. The hidden data path includes two sets of complementary I/O lines coupled in parallel between the memory cell array and the DC sense amplifier, and are alternatively coupled between the memory cell array and the DC sense amplifier to receive and transmit data. The set of complementary I/O lines not coupled is equilibrated during this time in preparation for coupling to and transmitting subsequent differential data. The hidden data path may also include two sets of data read lines coupled in parallel between the DC sense amplifier and the output circuitry if used for reading data from the memory cell array. Similarly, a second set of data write lines may be coupled in parallel between the input circuitry and write driver circuit when used for writing data to the memory cell array.

  • Patent number: 5984293
Abstract: A universal fixture for holding printed circuit board assemblies during stencil printing, pick-and-place processing, and other PCB assembly processes. In one embodiment, a universal printed circuit board holder has a base and a plurality of support members movably attached to the base. The support members may project away from the base along support paths, and the support members are selectively positionable along the support paths when the support members engage a side of a printed circuit board assembly. Accordingly, the support members may be selectively positioned at heights corresponding to a topography of the side of the printed circuit board assembly to uniformly support the printed circuit board assembly.

  • Patent number: 5981396
Abstract: The present invention is a method for chemical-mechanical planarization of semiconductor wafers that is highly useful for planarizing stop-on-feature design wafers. Initially, the wafer is positioned against a liquid solution over a planarizing surface of a polishing pad. At least one of the wafer or the pad is moved with respect to the other at a relatively low velocity to maintain a substantially continuous film of liquid solution between the wafer and the pad. The temperature of a pad platen is also controlled to maintain a relatively low temperature of the liquid solution at which the solution is highly selective to a layer of material on the wafer.
