The integrated circuit also includes an optical identification mark displaying a machine-readable optical identification code which corresponds with the electronic identification information stored in the identification circuit. The data encoded in the optical identification code may be identical with that of the electronic identification information. Alternatively, a look-up table or other correlating means may be employed to associate the optical identification code with the electronic identification information. The integrated circuit is packaged in a housing, and another optical identification mark is placed on an external surface of the housing.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for resizing or processing images initially retrieves a one-dimensional sample of the image, such as a line of pixels. The image can be of a machine-readable symbol, or other data. A moving window having, for example, five pixels, includes a center "hard core" and four surrounding pixels. Two or more structural sets or multisets are applied to the window to produce a set of pixels greater than the set of pixels in the original image. For example, the center pixel is repeated three times, while immediately adjacent left and right pixels are repeated twice. Thus, a series of nine pixels results. The resulting nine pixels are then sorted based on descending gray scale levels. The n-th largest pixels is selected, such as the third largest. The image is updated, the window moved, and the method repeats again. Pyramid filtering, cubic convolution interpolation, or other techniques can be used to reduce the size of an image, and more complex windows and structural sets can be employed.

Abstract: The invention relates to a self-regulated equalizer of the type which comprises a load circuit placed between first and second voltage references and having an input terminal which is connected to a modulated supply line, itself connected to the first voltage reference through a voltage step-up block placed between the first voltage reference and the modulated supply line and synchronized by a precharge enable signal received on a control terminal.
Abstract: A pressure intensifier for pressurization of a medium is provided, comprising a low-pressure cylinder (1), in which a low-pressure piston (2) is axially displaceable, and two high-pressure chambers (3, 4) which are each arranged coaxially with and on separate sides of the low-pressure cylinder (1) and which each exhibit an axially displaceable high-pressure piston (9, 10) which are secured to the low-pressure piston (2). A channel (16), provided with a nonreturn valve (17), connects the two high-pressure chambers. The area of one high-pressure piston (9) may be larger than the area of the other high-pressure piston (10).
Abstract: An image input section 1530 of a storage medium issuing system inputs image information and an image processing unit 420 performs image processing for the image information input through the image input section 1530. The image information processed by the image processing section is stored on a storage medium by an image write section 1500.When the storage medium on which the image information is stored is inserted into a gaming machine, the image information is read by a read section of the gaming machine. A game execution section of the gaming machine executes a predetermined game in accordance with image information concerning the game stored in a game image storage section. A display control section controls display of the image information read from the storage medium instead of reading a specific symbol among the image information stored in the game image storage section.
Abstract: An application specific field emission display includes one or more extended emitters. The emitters are patterned according to a selected image where the selected image depends upon the application. In one embodiment, an emitter is patterned in a serpentine pattern to provide a single block of illumination. In another application, emitters are grouped in threes and the emitters are driven respectively by the red, green, and blue components of an image signal to produce a multicolor display. In a display assembly according to the invention, application specific emitters are incorporated in subdisplays on a common substrate with a conventional matrix addressable array. The array provides video, graphical or textual information and the subdisplays provide textual, fixed-shaped graphical, numerical or colorized information.
Abstract: A one-shot circuit comprises a pulse generation circuit having an external clock terminal adapted to receive an external clock signal, a reset terminal coupled to receive a reset signal, and an internal clock terminal on which the pulse generation circuit develops an internal clock signal. The pulse generation circuit operates in a first mode to drive the internal clock signal from a first level to a second level in response to a transition of the external clock signal from a first level to a second level. The pulse generation circuit operates in a second mode to drive the internal clock signal from the second level to the first level in response to the reset signal going active. A delay circuit has input and output terminals coupled to the internal clock terminal and reset terminal, respectively, of the pulse generation circuit. The delay circuit operates to drive the reset signal active a delay time after the pulse generation circuit drives the internal clock signal from the first level to the second level.

Abstract: A hidden data path minimizes equilibration delays in coupling differential data through a complementary data path. The hidden data path may be used for both reading and writing to the memory cell array. The hidden data path includes two sets of complementary I/O lines coupled in parallel between the memory cell array and the DC sense amplifier, and are alternatively coupled between the memory cell array and the DC sense amplifier to receive and transmit data. The set of complementary I/O lines not coupled is equilibrated during this time in preparation for coupling to and transmitting subsequent differential data. The hidden data path may also include two sets of data read lines coupled in parallel between the DC sense amplifier and the output circuitry if used for reading data from the memory cell array. Similarly, a second set of data write lines may be coupled in parallel between the input circuitry and write driver circuit when used for writing data to the memory cell array.
Abstract: A universal fixture for holding printed circuit board assemblies during stencil printing, pick-and-place processing, and other PCB assembly processes. In one embodiment, a universal printed circuit board holder has a base and a plurality of support members movably attached to the base. The support members may project away from the base along support paths, and the support members are selectively positionable along the support paths when the support members engage a side of a printed circuit board assembly. Accordingly, the support members may be selectively positioned at heights corresponding to a topography of the side of the printed circuit board assembly to uniformly support the printed circuit board assembly.

Abstract: The present invention is a method for chemical-mechanical planarization of semiconductor wafers that is highly useful for planarizing stop-on-feature design wafers. Initially, the wafer is positioned against a liquid solution over a planarizing surface of a polishing pad. At least one of the wafer or the pad is moved with respect to the other at a relatively low velocity to maintain a substantially continuous film of liquid solution between the wafer and the pad. The temperature of a pad platen is also controlled to maintain a relatively low temperature of the liquid solution at which the solution is highly selective to a layer of material on the wafer.
Abstract: The present invention is an under-pad placed between a polishing pad and a platen of a planarizing machine used in chemical-mechanical planarization of semiconductor wafers. The under-pad has a body and a plurality of thermal conductors positioned in the body to conduct heat through the body. The body has a top face upon which the polishing pad is positionable and a bottom face engageable with the platen. In operation, heat from the platen and polishing pad flows through the thermal conductors to reduce temperature gradients across the planarizing surface of the polishing pad.
