  • Patent number: 5982682
Abstract: A sense amplifier senses and stores data from a memory cell in an array of memory cells arranged in rows and columns. The sense amplifier includes a sense circuit having a pair of first and second complementary digit lines which senses a voltage differential between the first and second complementary digit lines and in response to the sensed voltage differential drives the first and second complementary digit lines to voltage levels corresponding to complementary logic states. An isolation circuit is coupled between the pair of first and second complementary digit lines of the sense amplifier and a pair of first and second complementary digit lines associated with a column of memory cells. The isolation circuit is operable to couple the first complementary digit line of the sense amplifier to the first complementary digit line of the column of memory cells and the second complementary digit line of the sense amplifier to the secondary complementary digit line of the column of memory cells.

  • Patent number: 5982666
Abstract: A sense amplifier circuit for a semiconductor memory device comprises first current/voltage conversion means for converting a current of a memory cell to be read into a voltage signal, second current voltage/conversion means for converting a reference current into a reference voltage signal, and voltage comparator means for comparing the voltage signal with the reference voltage signal. The sense amplifier circuit comprises capacitive decoupling means for decoupling the voltage signal from the comparator means, and means for providing the capacitive decoupling means with an electric charge suitable for compensating an offset voltage introduced in the voltage signal by an offset current superimposed on the current of the memory cell to be read.

  • Patent number: 5980254
Abstract: A weapons training range provides a simulated weapons use scenario including return fire. A microprocessor selects branches from a multi-branch program and causes an image projector to project subscenarios on a display screen visible to a participant. In response to the subscenarios, the participant fires at projected threats. Return fire simulators positioned behind the display screen return fire toward the participant. Obstructions are placed in the weapons range to provide cover for the participant. A video camera and X-Y position sensor identify the X-Y location of the participant and try to detect exposed portions of the participant. Based upon the identified X-Y location and any detected exposed portions, the microprocessor aims the return fire simulators to provide simulated return fire. To simulate real world aiming, the microprocessor induces time-based and response-based aiming errors.

  • Patent number: 5983314
Abstract: A maskable data output buffer includes an output stage receiving data signals from a data coder. The signals output from the data coder are normally complementary data signals corresponding to complementary data input signals. However, in response to receiving a mask signal, the data coder forces the output signals to be other than complementary. The output stage normally generates a data output signal corresponding to the complementary data input signals. However, when the data input signals are other than complementary, the output of the output stage assumes a high impedance condition. Since the timing of the high impedance condition is determined from the data signals themselves, the timing of the mask operation is inherently properly timed to the output of the data from the data output buffer.

  • Patent number: 5980363
Abstract: The present invention is an under-pad placed between a polishing pad and a platen of a planarizing machine used in chemical-mechanical planarization of semiconductor wafers. The under-pad has a body and a plurality of thermal conductors positioned in the body to conduct heat through the body. The body has a top face upon which the polishing pad is positionable and a bottom face engageable with the platen. In operation, heat from the platen and polishing pad flows through the thermal conductors to reduce temperature gradients across the planarizing surface of the polishing pad.

  • Patent number: 5978297
Abstract: A method and apparatus for reading or strobing antifuse circuits in a memory device is described. A read signal, also called a strobe signal, is generated from a circuit which includes a model antifuse similar to antifuses employed in the antifuse circuits. The read signal is a single pulse having a duration determined by an amount of time needed to charge the model antifuse such that the read signal is long enough to be applied to properly read antifuse circuits in the memory device. A reset pulse may be generated having a duration determined by the amount of time needed to charge the model antifuse, and the reset pulse may be applied to initialize registers in the memory device and to generate the read signal.

  • Patent number: 5978298
Abstract: A single pull-up circuit is shared between a redundant row antifuse cell, and a redundant column antifuse cell. Additionally, a single selection circuit is shared between the two antifuse cells. A row selection signal supplied thereto selects the antifuse cell for the redundant row, while a column selection signal selects the antifuse cell for the redundant column. A small channel length transistor is employed within the latch circuit. As a result, the latch can quickly pull up a value when the antifuse cell is not blown, and quickly latch that value within the latch since an RC time constant of the latch is decreased. A pulsed pull-up signal having a very short duration is employed to enable the latch. Since the pulsed pull-up signal has a short duration, a high voltage supply V.sub.CC is provided through the latch and a blown antifuse cell to ground for only a short duration, thereby minimizing the possibility of such a low resistance current path from damaging the circuitry.

  • Patent number: 5977586
Abstract: A non-volatile integrated device having first and second dimensionally different polysilicon gate layers separated by an oxide layer for hot-carrier reliability. More specifically, the oxide and second polysilicon gate layer are selectively etched to form a second gate region over the first polysilicon gate layer that electrically contacts the first polysilicon gate in one direction and is isolated by the oxide in the other direction. Insulating sidewalls are formed over the first polysilicon gate layer regions that are not electrically contacted by the second gate layer to help isolate the second polysilicon gate and form an LDD structure within the substrate for the device.

  • Patent number: 5975603
Abstract: A fire hydrant lifting harness includes a lifting triangle, a pair of connecting cables, and a pair of rigid paddles. The lifting triangle includes two bracing members, one each at two corners, forming eyelets therein. For each eyelet, a cable passes through it and the cable is wound around itself. The other end of each cable is attached to a respective lifting paddle in a similar manner. The paddle is made from a rigid material and includes a bend, between the two ends, so that the paddle does not contact the head of the fire hydrant. The end of the paddle opposite from where the cable connects includes an aperture designed to accommodate one of the ports from the fire hydrant. For lifting, the port cap is removed, the paddle is placed around the port and against the hydrant, and the port cap replaced. A lifting force then raises the fire hydrant lifting device which in turn raises the fire hydrant.

  • Patent number: 5976000
Abstract: A hard polishing pad with a porous surface for use in chemical-mechanical planarization of semiconductor wafers. The polishing pad has a body with a planarizing surface upon which a slurry may be deposited, and a plurality of particles are suspended in the body. The body is made from a continuous phase matrix material, and the particles are made from a substantially incompressible material that is soluble in the slurry. As a wafer is planarized, the particles at the planarizing surface of the polishing pad dissolve in the slurry and create pores in the pad. Also, because the particles are substantially incompressible, they reinforce the pad to provide a hard, substantially incompressible pad.
