  • Patent number: 8331375
Abstract: A generic quality of service (QoS) model that is not dependent on network technology is used to support QoS for communication networks utilizing different network technologies. The generic QoS model may include a superset of all QoS parameters for all network technologies being supported, e.g., 3GPP and 3GPP2. An application at a device may specify QoS for a traffic flow based on the generic QoS parameters in the superset. The generic QoS parameters may be converted to QoS parameters that are specific to a serving network. The converted QoS parameters are exchanged with the serving network and are used while exchanging traffic with the serving network.

  • Patent number: 8332788
Abstract: A method of processing a logical netlist for implementing a circuit design within a programmable integrated circuit includes identifying a dynamically reconfigurable module (DRM) comprising a port from the logical netlist. The DRM defines a dynamically reconfigurable region of the integrated circuit that communicates with a module that is not dynamically reconfigurable via the port. First circuitry of the DRM and circuitry external to the DRM are implemented. The first circuitry connects to the circuitry external to the DRM via the port. The circuitry external to the DRM is within the module that is not dynamically reconfigurable. The method further includes locking routing resources connecting the circuitry external to the DRM to a location associated with a boundary of the DRM for the port; and implementing second circuitry of the DRM by reusing the locked routing resources. The second circuitry is routed to connect to the location associated with the boundary of the DRM for the port.

  • Patent number: 8329614
Abstract: Solid adsorbents, following their use for mercury removal from flue gas, that do not interfere with the ability of air-entraining additives (such as surfactants) to form stable bubbles when added to fly ash containing the adsorbents. The interference is overcome by heating the materials used in the manufacture of the adsorbent so that magnesium hydroxide and/or one or more alkali compounds containing one or more silicate, aluminate, and/or phosphate moiety, added or already present in the materials, binds multivalent cations present in the materials that could otherwise interfere with the surfactant activity.

  • Patent number: 8325714
Abstract: A system and method are provided for programming the parallel path width in a serial-to-parallel path transceiver. Initially, the transceiver is programmed to select a link layer (layer 1) protocol, such as Gigabit Ethernet (GBE) or SONET. The method accepts serial digital data in the selected protocol at a serial interface, and differentiates the serial data into units of i bits per unit. Another programmed selection is made between n number of unique data interfaces, where each interface includes a plurality of parallel paths. The serial digital data is assigned to z selected data interfaces and transmitted. In one aspect, the serial data is assigned to m number of parallel path channels, where m is less than, or equal to z, and less than i. In another aspect, the frequency at which each data interface parallel path transmits data is selected.

  • Patent number: 8326372
Abstract: Systems and methodologies are described that enable power save mechanisms to be utilized with active direct transfers. Mobile stations in a wireless communication network can establish direct links between each other to obviate a need to transfer data via an access point. While direct links are active, the mobile stations coordinate or otherwise notify each other about power management modes to effectuate power save delivery of data via direct links. In accordance with a scheduled mechanism, mobile stations coupled via a direct link enter an active mode at a previously negotiated scheduled time after which time data transfer can occur. According to an unscheduled mechanism, one mobile station can remain awake while other enters a power save mode. The sleeping station can awaken and transmit a trigger frame to notify its peer that it is available for data transfers.

  • Patent number: 8322231
Abstract: A hydrostatic force/displacement measuring device measures the force and displacement exerted by a rotating tire in soil/aggregate. The measuring device has a hydrostatic actuation assembly having a pressure plate at near surface depths of soil/aggregate to provide hydrostatic pressures in a liquid representative of force and displacement created by the downward forces exerted by a rotating tire in the soil/aggregate at the near surface depths. A hydrostatic hose transmits the hydrostatic pressure forces in the liquid to a surface manifold assembly. The surface manifold assembly receives the hydrostatic pressure forces and has a gauge providing visual readouts of the hydrostatic pressure forces representative of the downward forces. The surface manifold assembly also has an axially displaceable piston defining an interface chamber. The piston is connected to an electronic sensor to provide visual readouts representative of displacements caused by the downward force.
