  • Patent number: 5056978
Abstract: A high shelf system and a conveyor arrangement including a vertical mast ucture which is movable in longitudinal direction of a corridor between shelf racks. The mast structure includes load receiving members which can be aligned with the shelf compartments. The load receiving members are displaceable perpendicularly to the shelf corridor. A load receiving member is fixedly arranged on the mast structure for each shelf level. At least one loading and unloading station is provided for the conveyor arrangement for vertically moving units to be stored between a storage input and output level and the shelf compartments. Each load receiving member carries on a rigid platform a transverse conveyor device which is adjustable along the entire length of the platform and beyond each end of the platform. The transverse conveyor device includes a slide or carriage. A linear drive arranged on the platform acts on the slide. The slide has at both ends thereof locking members for the units to be stored.

  • Patent number: 5056284
Abstract: To facilitate the construction of a very high structural member for use in a body of water such as at an offshore location with the structural member extending from the floor of the body of water to above its surface, tensioning members are inserted into relatively narrow tensioning ducts accessible only from the top of the structural member. The tensioning members, such as steel rods, steel wires, or steel wire strands, are provided with members for effecting a positive locking engagement in a hardenable material forming an anchored length of the tension member at the lower end of the tensioning ducts. Initially, the tension members are lowered into the lower ends of the ducts and then are grouted in the ducts by a hardenable material. After the hardenable material has set over an anchored length, the tension members are tensioned within the ducts. Next, the tensioned length of the tension members in the ducts is grouted with a hardenable material to provide a composite action with the structural member.

  • Patent number: 5058171
Abstract: A microphone arrangement comprising at least two individual microphones arranged closely next to each other, whose individual microphones depending on the recording angle desired for the sound recording are a pressure- and/or a pressure gradient receiver and/or a directional line microphone, is characterized by the wind pressure being continuously measured during the sound recording by means of a microphone (Mw) with downstream switched electronic circuit (5, 11, 12) and depending on the respectively prevailing wind pressure always that microphone (M1, M2, Mn) remains switched to the amplifier 9 assigned to it by an instantaneously controlled switch (6, 7, 8), which in its conversion principle, frequency course and its directional effect is least sensitive to wind noises for the prevailing wind intensity.

  • Patent number: 5056701
Abstract: An explosive powder charge operated fastening element setting tool includes an interceptor (14) for intercepting or cushioning a driving piston (8) in the event excess energy is supplied to the piston in driving a fastening element into a receiving material. The driving piston (8) has a shoulder (12a) displaceable when excess energy is present into the axially extending region of a deformable stopper (27) in contact with a bolt guide (4). If the interceptor (14) for the driving piston (8) does not afford an adequate braking, the shoulder (12a) runs up against the stopper (27) and the stopper is deformed and tightly clamps or jams the driving piston (8) so that it can not be freely displaced. When such jamming action takes place, the tool operator is signaled that a buffer (23) between the interceptor and the bolt guide and possibly the stopper (27) need to be replaced.

  • Patent number: 5057579
Abstract: Polyacrylate esters with quaternary ammonium groups are disclosed. The esters are obtained by transesterifying alkyl polyacrylate esters with dialkylaminoalkanols, followed by quaternization. The polymers are free of physiologically questionable components and can therefore be used for the preparation of cosmetic products, preferably for hair cosmetics. The polymers furthermore are suitable for finishing fibers or of textile products. The invention is furthermore directed to polyacrylate esters with tertiary amino groups, which are formed as intermediates in the preparation of polyacrylate esters with quaternary ammonium groups.

  • Patent number: 5054753
Abstract: An energy-absorbing damping device comprises a basic body which delimits a liquid-filled chamber, the basic body being provided with channels opening onto the outside of the basic body, the channels ensuring communication with a medium which deforms elastically under the pressure of the liquid. To enhance the cost-effectiveness of the damping device, the channels are designed as narrow, flow-restricting channels and the elastically deformable medium is an elastically extensible diaphragm sealed around it periphery and covering the external openings of the flow-restricting channels. The energy of an impact or a blow is absorbed by the liquid being forced through the narrow flow-restricting channels and by extension of the elastic diaphragm.

  • Patent number: 5054147
Abstract: A fabrication last (10) for shoe manufacture on a computer-controlled transfer line comprises a toe part (11) and a heel part (12) which are displaceable relative to one another. The two last parts (11, 12) are held together by means of a lock (20). The latter comprises a flat metal part (21), which is fixed in one of the last parts (12) by means of screws (29), and an elongated hole (22) which extends between the two last parts (11, 12) substantially parallel to the sectional area (13). A stepped bore hole (14), in which a fork (23) is guided, is provided in the other last part (11). This fork (23) comprises a fork head (23.1) whose two sides overlap the flat metal part (21). A transverse pin (24) which engages through the elongated hole (22) and in this way holds together the two last parts (11, 12) is supported in the fork head (23.1). A two-piece receiving plate (30.1, 30.2) serves to fix the last (10) at the work stations of the transfer system.

  • Patent number: 5054983
Abstract: A member (1) for securing insulation panels (7) to a structural component (8) is formed of an annular head (2) and an axially extending hollow shaft (3) extending from the head. The hollow shaft (3) is arranged to receive a nail (9) for fixing the member to the structural component (8). An axially extending section (4) is positioned within the hollow shaft (3) and has an abutment (5) at its end closer to the head (2). When the nail (9) is driven into the structural component (8) its head (2) contacts the abutment (5) and at least an axially extending part (4) of the section is collapsible to compensate for excess driving energy supplied to the nail whereby it is inserted for variable depths into the structural component (8). The collapsible part (4) of the section prevents compressive forces from exercising any damaging effect on the insulation panels (7).
